For our last few family vacations, I have created a travel journal for DS10 to write in every day. He loves these books! I have started creating one for this Disney trip. Each park will have it's own pages, with these writing prompts: a place for where/what we ate each meal; a place for rides, favorite and least favorite; a place for characters; and a place for just general thoughts on the day. There are also graphics to pick for weather and attitude. :) Am I missing anything? Obviously, this journal is going to be quite a bit more detailed than others I've done!

Oh my goodness! I love this idea!! We are taking our 7 year old in September and I think this will be a fantastic activity for him to do as well.

That's how old our DS was when I did his first one. He asks now before every trip if he's going to have a book! :) We are going in September too, the 15th-24th!

I'm not creative, but look at big picture type things. Perhaps a way to include parades, fireworks, other shows. Was there a "stop and smell the roses" type moment? At the end of the vacation, a page for the one thing he never wants to forget.

I hadn't thought about the shows! And I love the one thing idea! Thanks! :)

We did something similar when our daughter was 6. We brought a journal and she wrote in it every night about her day and what she liked best and least and just a general journal entry. She brought it to school to share with her class during circle time. She will be 9 when we go this time and I'd love for her to do this again!

Do you have a picture of an example of one of the journals? This trip is going to be a surprise for her and I'd love to create a fun journal to pack in her bag. One that isn't just a plain pad of lined paper.

We are pulling DS out of school for this trip, so I am hopeful he will be able to share this journal with his classmates when he returns.

What a great surprise! No way I could keep this from him, I talk about it way too much! :D I'm thinking of starting a PTR on here just to have a place to put all my thoughts and ideas...I think my guys are getting tired of hearing about it. LOL.

This is just a screenshot of my work in progress, I'm going to change one of the "Other Fun Stuff" blocks to be about shows, parades, etc. Each park will have their own pages. There will also be different ones for MNSSHP and Kennedy Space Center. I'll probably do some kind of pages for our off-park days. I'm going to print them 2 to a page, cut in half, and put in a 5.5x8.5 binder. I wouldn't mind sharing with you when I'm done, unless you just want to create your own! :)

So adorable!!
My husband gets sick of me talking about Disney. I do this for about 4 months after booking a trip and then it starts to die down. It's to the point that if I say to my DH " I have a question" or " I wanted to talk about...." he says "let me guess, about Disney?".

I'm not too computer savvy but what program did you use to make this? I want to try!

I used Microsoft Publisher. You can use Word, but to me Publisher is SO much more flexible when adding both text and graphics.

I eventually told DH, just trust me. I'll let you know when I'm going to make a huge charge to the card, but otherwise, I have it under control.

I have done journals for the kids, but I love these pages! I have printed them to stick in their journals as DS likes extra guidance.
Do you have similar pages for the other parks?

Thank you so much, and yes, I do! I have a cover page and a travel day/resort page as well, although they are obviously personalized. My DS likes to have extra guidance, too, and while I liked some of the ones I've seen online, I wanted more options to write/describe. :) I still have a couple of tweaks to make on them, but I can upload them here when I'm done. :)

I hope this uploads okay, it is 15 pages. I included the cover page, although for mine, I personalized it in the Mickey head with son's name in Disney font. I'm still thinking about doing a couple more pages at the end, kind of like a summary thing. Please feel free to print and use. :) And if you'd like, I can personalize a cover page for you as well. It's super easy!

This is awesome! Thank you! I have already made the book, with puzzles and stuff, but these pages are EXACTLY what I was looking for for the journal portion! They are really fab.

I recently found one that my brother wrote in 2010! The only thing in his that isn't already on here, is a place for pictures. He has a little plastic slip for pictures attached to each page, with the pictures that correspond to the events on that page. The journals are a great way to relive trips!

That is a great idea as well! I actually didn't even think about a place for pics. I'm a big scrapbooker, so I'm planning to put his journal pages with the rest of the scrapbooked photos and memorabilia. :)

Yeah, I take a LOT of photos, so I have a bunch of blank pages to stick pictures, but also to stick stickers, and any other paper type souvenirs etc
