Kids sitting alone on rides

I am taking my kids on a trip without DH in a couple weeks and had a quick question about how to manage some rides. My kids are 5 and 6. I know to ride alone in most cases they need to be 7, but I am curious if for a ride like BTMRR they would let me sit next to my 5 year old and have the 6 year old sit in front of me. Would that count as me still riding with him or do I have to be physically next to him? Just trying to figure out things out for planning my FP+. I would hate to reserve something we couldn't go on.

For BTMRR you can sit 3 across a row with 2 small children, you will all be able to ride together :thumbsup2

I'm pretty sure you have to physically be seated next to him.

However - depending on how big you all are, I've seen people manage BTMRR riding 3 to a car. :thumbsup2

Thank you! I bet we could all fit in one car. Now I just have to figure out how to ride Buzz and TSMM so we can all have a gun to shoot.

I think you'd be able to pair one of your kids with another child in the next car. Just ask a CM.

No, unless things have changed, they won't allow this. In a similar situation we just had to ride Buzz lots of times to make sure everyone got enough turns with the blaster.

That was out experience too - from the other side. With just DD to "share", DH & I often sit alone on rides like Buzz. One trip we were next to a single mom with 2 boys & she didn't realize until we were boarding that she had an issue with seating. I could see panic rising in her eyes & I felt terrible for her. I offered to ride with the older son since we were right behind them in line & had been chatting a lot during our wait. It worked out in the end. :thumbsup2

We were just there in May. We have 7 kids and let me say Disneys new rules about seating can be a bit of a burden on some. They will not allow a child under 7 to ride alone without an adult or person 14 or older. And they are strict. Thankfully my oldest son turned 14 in Feb so he sat with 2 kids and me and DH sat with 2 kids. Now on buzz don't ask me how we did it since we did tomorrowland first and we didn't hear about the rule til we got to dumbo which we skipped. We actually got away with 2 people to a seat. My 7 yr old rode with her sister, my ODS rode with a sister I rode with my YDS and my husband rode with YDD and ODD. So you never know. All the CMs are different in how far they want to push the rules. I even had an argument with one cause she asked my 7 yr old DD how old her brother was and she said 13. When she asked me I told her 14 so she thought I was lying. My DS can't answer cause he is mentally disabled but mental age doesn't count thankfully at disney. I know what he can handle so that is why I was ok with him riding with his siblings and why we skipped dumbo.

Hope you guys have a fun trip.

They did not let our 6 year old sit alone on TSMM. When we were there in May, they would not allow her to sit with her 9 yo brother. Because we would have all been in the same ride vehicle, I didn't even realize that they wouldn't allow them to sit together on the other side.

Gosh, the more I sit and think about it the more rides I am realizing we probably won't get to ride. What about Space Mountain? My kids are both over 44" but the seats are all individual so they will in theory be sitting alone while we are all in the same car. Is that an exception?

You may just have to sit in the middle of your kids and let them do the shooting.

On our last trip, DS6 couldn't ride TSM with DD13.

However, now that I think of it, DS11 was able to take DS6 on Buzz with no problems, so who knows. :confused3

Mentally disabled or not, kids get that it wrong often. My kids don't really remember each others ages. We have 6 kids ranging from 2 to 15. My 6 and 8 year old think their 4 year old sister is still 3 and they think their 2 year old sister is still 1. My 15 year old son recently told someone that his 8 year old sister is 6 and his almost 14 year old sister, he told someone she was 12.

Now if you ask my husband the kids ages, you will get completely different ages and all wrong answers as well. For some reason he gets mixed up too and has told people our 15 year old is 13.

My parents always travel with us and they get all the ages wrong too.

I am the only one that gets the ages correct.

So the new rule in our family is, if someone asks an age other than your own (and holy cow they have also been known to tell the wrong age as well, my 4 year old has told people she is 12!! ROTFL!!!!!), that you are to direct them to Mommy :)

I would totally assume that would be different because you can't sit right next to them but can be in the same "car" together"
