I'm thinking about booking one of the kid adventure cruises and if I understand it correctly, parents do NOT accompany them... is that correct?

If so, do you guys worry about about letting them go alone?

If you "get over" the anxiety - have you all found something interesting to do for the two hours that they are gone? Is there a particular restaurant close by? Or some other activity that takes less than the two hours? (Other than the obvious one of going back to the room for some alone time! ;) )

Thanks.

The kids are fine. they give you a wrist band and the children will not be released to anyone but you. My children really enjoyed. They took the one that went from GF. It's easy to eat or shop because it is right on the monorail. My DM and I had breakfast at ohana and then went shopping at the poly and GF. Have fun!

DD did the pirate cruise from the GF when she was 6yo. At first I was alittle worried about letting her go alone. She insisted she wanted to try it, so I gave in. They only have a small amount of kids on the cruise. They pair the kids up with a "buddy". There were 2 adults on the boat with them and all the kids had to wear life vests. DD had such a great time. We booked the one at the YC for her this year. At the time, DH and I hung out at the GF. We ate, looked at the shops and enjoyed people watching in the lobby. I did not want to leave the resort though. You do have enough time to go somewhere else or resort hop to the resorts on the monorail loop.

This time since she'll be doing the one at the YC, (we are staying at the BW) so we could go back to our room. Most likely DH will be on a water mouse, he loves those things, and I'll be at the BW pool with DS. He's 3 and too young for the cruise.

Thanks both of you. I'm booking a Pirate Adventure for one of our quieter days and my husband and I will eat at the Grand Floridian Cafe for breakfast (unless someone comes up with something more exciting to fill the time!).

Another question. We are staying off site and will not be visiting a park that day. Are we still allowed to take the monorail and tour the resorts?

I booked the YC cruise for my kids in June and I have 2 questions!!!

Whats the difference between the GF and the YC cruises?

Has anyone tried to do the 9:30a Segway tour while their kids did the cruise? The cm told me I could arrange with the YC marina to hold onto the kids for the 15 min it would take us to run over. I haven't called so I am not sure if this is imposing or typical in making a magical experience!!

Thanks in advance!
Isabel

Pirate Adventure - Children wear pirate bandannas and follow clues to search Bay Lake and the Seven Seas Lagoon for buried treasure. They sail to many exotic "ports of call" (Resort Marinas) to collect treasure. Children who are potty trained (no pull-ups) and ages 4-10 may attend. Lunch is provided (Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich, Gummy bears, Krispy Treat and Juice box).

Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday 9:30 - 11:30 a.m.
Available to all guests, Cost is $28.17 plus tax.
Reservations 90 days in advance 407-WDW-DINE

The Bayside Marina near the Yacht Club also offers a special Albatross Treasure Cruise for children ages 4-10 -- Children will wear bandannas as they follow clues and sail to many exotic "ports of call" around Crescent Lake and Epcot looking for treasure. During the voyage, children will hear a reading of "The Legend of the Albatross." At the final port of call, children will have lunch of peanut butter and jelly sandwich, cookie, and juice box, and will split up the "buried treasure." Held Wednesdays 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. Children must be potty trained -- no pull-ups. Price is $28.17 plus tax per child. Reservations are recommended. Call 407-WDW-DINE.

I got the above info from Deb's site. Looks to me that the difference between the 2 would be the Albatross adventure takes the kids to Epcot? The pirate cruise from the GF takes them to the marinas at the resorts(POLY, Cont, WL?)

You sure can take the monorail and tour the resorts. That's a fun way to kill time!

Am I wrong. I could very well be but I thought that I read that some where.

There is another one that takes off from the Caribbean Beach Club. It just started at the beginning of this month. So that makes 3. :thumbsup2

We just returned from WDW where DD7 and DS4 went on the Pirate Cruise from the Grand Floridian. The above responses give a good description of the cruise, so I will not go into it. Both my kids loved the experience and spent the rest of the day calling everyone they saw "Land Lubbers" or whatever the saying should be, it was really cute.

As for things to do, my DW used the time to get a massage at the Grand Floridian Spa (a 50-minute massage starting at 10:00 was perfect to be back in time to round up the new pirates). I used the time to walk around the world (Walked from Grand Floridian to the Poly then Monorailed to Magic Kingdom and boated back to GF for a coffe and some breakfast). Sounds pretty dull, but after four days of always being on the go, it was nice to just walk without purpose.

If you have any specific questions, let me know.

My DD did the Pirate Cruise out of GF when she was 6 and really loved it.
Our DS who was 1 1/2 at the time had just fallen asleep in his stroller for a nice long nap. So DH and I went to MK and got a bunch of character signatures and pictures with them and one of us!! We thought that it was pretty cool since all the other pictures were with the kids!!!

Thanks for the info on the third cruise. I figure with three of them my son is bound to get into one of them when I call!!!

Thanks again
Frances

Actually they will have 4 very soon. Starting in April there is going to be a "Search for the Jester" cruise in Port Orleans. The cm described it to me a scavenger hunt looking for clues about a Jesters life and at the end a Jester pops out and tells stories. They as always have the peanut and butter lunch. Sounds cute , will probably try it in November.

My ds4 and dd9 did it this past August, at the GF. I was really nervous about the 4 year old, and told dd to watch him. He was fighting us and didn't want to go, didn't want to wear his ears etc. But he had a GREAT time. They really enjoyed it. DH and I had some alone time ;).
