Kids on AP Getting old

Our DD 10 was 9 when we bought our APs last December. Now we are looking into a return trip. She would no longer qualify for a Child's AP.

I read somewhere that the thing to do is to upgrade the AP to an . My question is what does this cost? Will we pay the full difference between the price of a child AP and adult AP? Will it be a pro-rated difference, and if so, based on what? What percentage of the year she was 10? Or what percentage of the year is left?

Has anyone else done this and can give me the details?

I asked and they said no charge, as I will be doing that next month. When we went in December DD was 9 and we bought our AP's, then she turned 10 in January. Disney knows kids are always going to get a year older sometime during that time frame and they don't make you "pony up" more $. I asked at least 2 or 3 sources and that was the answer I received each time.

We were told to just continue using the old AP until it expired...we did that without any trouble...and the next time we purchased (ouch!!) the adult AP..

This is correct...the AP is good until expiration. Upon renewal you would then purchase an adult AP for the now 10-yr old.
It happens that when I first purchased AP's in was the first week in July of whatever year that was. Even though my kids' birthdays are in mid-July and mid-August, that last child AP I purchased for older DS was good for the entire year, even though he turned 10 two weeks afterwards.
