it seems as though every kids menu i look at has the same 2 options for dessert: ice cream or fruit salad. :confused3

i know when you are on the DDP, children must order from the children's menu but are swaps allowed for dessert? i find it strange that places like 50s Prime Time have things like 'Smores on the adult dessert menu but not on the children's dessert menu. kids LOVE 'smores.

Sorry - they won't let kids order adult desserts. You can share yours with them though.

Your kids won't be able to order from the dessert adult menu, butyou should know that the desserts at 50's are ginormous. You will definitely be able to share with the kids and maybe even have some leftover. My DH had the dad's brownie sundae and it was the size of 3 desserts.

yes, absolutely, i'm certain we will be sharing desserts (we wouldn't typically eat dessert at every meal at home, afterall), I just found it strange, in general, that the kid choices were the EXACT same across the board (as far as I can tell) and just so unimaginative. Ice cream and fruit? :confused3

the ice cream at the table services generally comes with toppings in little cups and the kids create their own sundae, so it's not quite just plain ice cream. The fruit is offered as the healthy option for parents who want to control the number of sweets the kids are consuming.

I think the main reason they offer limited choices on the kids menus is cost - having just two options, and simple to prepare at that, keeps the restaurant's costs on the kids desserts in line with the $ the restaurant collects for the kids credits. Really, the kids meal plan is very inexpensive (so it's kind of a you-get-what-you-pay-for deal, KWIM.)

The more expensive restaurants (signature places like Citricos, Cali Grill, etc. ) offer more imaginative choices for kids desserts. But again, you're paying 2 TS credits there, so you paid more for the more elaborate choices.

The signature restaurants offer much more creative kids desserts.

But remember, the children's menu is aimed at very young children --- 3-9, so they are aiming for rather simple palettes.
