Hi!

We have made our ADR's and we notice that a lot of the kids meal choices in all the restaurants we have chosen are very similar. That's a lot of pizza and chicken nuggets for a child to eat in 1 week! :)

Does anyone know if they will take an adult meal and scale it down to kid-sized just so the kids have more options?

Thanks!

Generally.... No. Kids are stuck with the kids menu. Some of the kids menus are better than others. If you ask nicely though, perhaps some restaurants would be more accommodating than others.

I have pretty much the OPPOSITE problem. 3 daughters who are "Disney adults" and one is super picky! I am hoping there might be some restaurants that will give me an adult-sized kids meal. Worried the poor thing will go hungry all week!

Good luck! Hope you get some more interesting meals for your child. :)

They will not.

Take a look at menus for better options or do mostly buffets.

Ask about the Junior Meals! They are larger versions of kid's meals. We got a few for DD when she was turning 10. Kona and 50's PTC.

I don't know how much they are if you pay OOP but since you'll be on the DDP and they are counted as adults it won't matter.

Here's an example of the difference in the kid's meals and a jr. meal. We found out about the jr. meals after our first meal at Kona. The server at 50's PTC told us. The meals are not on the menu.

Jr. Ravioli with about 12.

Also a few years before this trip we eat at HBD. Most of us weren't too hungry due to the heat and wanted to order kid's meals. The server had no problem with it and told us we could even order double or triple versions. I'm thinking the triple one is what they call Jr. Meals.? Anyway we opted for the std. kid's versions and were fine. Being adults though, we did have to pay for our drinks-we weren't on the DDP this trip.

No - If you look at the price for the kids dining plan versus the adult it is obvious why they can't do this - the kids plan is CHEAP and you get food choices according to that

Just check the menus more carefully and you can escape the pizza and nugget every day route. One good idea is to book a few buffets - kids can eat anything on the buffet - kids section and adults.

My kids also like the choices at LeCellier for lunch (steak), Tony's (pasta), San Angel Inn(tacos), Mama Melrose (chicken parm). So - the variety IS OUT THERE - you just need to scour the menus to find a good balance. Usually I choose 1 - 2 meals based soley on dh and I likes without really even bothering looking at the kids menu and then I choose a couple buffets that I know we will all find plenty to choose from, then I choose 2 - 3 places really based solely on the variety offered on the kids menu. It works out well and my kids get PLENTY of nuggets and pizza at the quick service places (although here too there is variety - just need to look around for it).

I agree with booking buffets/family style meals since they can eat anything. Garden Grill, Ohana, Boma, etc. and character meals. As far as price goes, they are your best value when getting a dining plan anyway.

I actually have a picky eater and I'm disappointed when I can't get chicken nuggets in WDW ;-) I actually thought Disney did a good job of having 1 item or more on the menu that was unique for that restaurant and not pizza/nuggets.
