just wondering if anybody can help me. i am having my reception at the boardwalk resort and have to spend a min of $100 a plate,i was curious if that goes for kids also? :confused3 or if there is a kids plate offered for less money and if so how much??Thanks guys :)

Hi...I am also at the Boardwalk ;) For kids under 12 you no way have to pay $100 a plate....eeek. I think the kid meals run around $25 for chicken fingers or pizza, applesauce, fries and dessert. Beverage package is seperate but you would get the non-alcholic package for them...obviously. I would have to check the menus my EM sent me if you needed specifics.:goodvibes

:cool1: omg.. thank you so much i was so worried because i found out all my cousins were coming and i couldnt afford to have their kids if it was gonna be $100 for each. :woohoo: now that bring the guest list up to 56ppl with the kids does this mean i now have to meet the min room night of 50nights?? even though they are kids  i know i wouldnt be able to make it 25nights is ok but 50nights is a prob i think. is it over 50ppl you have to meet 50nights or no since 14 of them are kids :sad2: please help me its like one thing after another :furious:

I thought it was kids 9 and under qualify for kids' meals.

I'm in the same boat. I will have about 25 kids. Most of them are over 9 so will be eating for the adult price. I too am worried about meeting the room requirement with that many kids! Especially since my sister alone has 6! But I was told here, that it is judged totally by the guest number, kids or not!

Itgirl ye you are children 3-9 and the price is around $20 per kid....but you DON"Y have to serve the kids 9-teenagers the $100 a plate. Your EM can do a menu for you (even the same one as the younger kids with pizza or chicken fingers etc) and you will pay a whole lot less then the plated meal which is being served to the adults I think the reason they may accomadate this is because first a large chunk of that price is usually bar and kids can not drink. Again check with your EM to see what pricing or menus they can recommend and their suggestions.Hope this helps.

I think in terms of room requirements the children count but maybe Disney can work with you if you are close but not exactly there in terms of room nights. Worse comes to worse you do not get your comped room?

Like everyone said kids meals run from 20-25 dollars and include dessert...
and dont worry about the age thing my cousin is 26 and got a kids meal because we had steak as our main course and she only eats chicken....

Thanks for that info! I am planning on about 11 kids who are 1-9, and about 15 who are between 10-17! So that will really be a help if the teenagers don't get charged the full price. That makes me feel so much better! I can't wait to tell DBF. Are kids under 3 free or anything?

No problem...like I said just remind them that they are underage and not adults so they won't have the bar package (so that the $100 or whatever does not apply to them). But just know they will NOT be eating the same as the adults they will have more chicken finger/pizza type of food....which in my experience teenagers prefer over filet with a pinot noir reduction (I know some big kids that would perfer the pizza as well ;) ) Hmm kids under 3 they may be free but then maybe they won't get a meal that's why they are free :rotfl: Not not sure I am going to inquire about that though.

I haven't planned this yet, am just trying to get ideas, so forgive me if I sound dumb. If you do "billed on consumption bar" then would it matter for the teens? Most of my teens are very picky and barely eat, so they may be happiest with kiddie foods. A few really like to eat! I'd have to look into that. I think I'll have just one kid who will be one. The 3 year olds can certainly eat a plate of chicken fingers! So I guess that won't matter. I was just wondering how it works if it is kids 3-9.

Please do not apologize. I was like queen of confused when I started planning my wedding and I still couldn't do any real "planning" with Disney. Thanks to the help of this board and other Disney brides I learned all this stuff on my own so I am happy to help if I can!

No bill on consuption won't matter because they will just charge per soda or juice for the kids and then whatever the adults have as well so that will be fine.

How does it work with the kids' choices? Do I tell Disney ahead, or do they ask the kids right then what they want (because those things cook so fast)? Thanks again. It really made me feel better to know I might have an option for some of these kids! And if some do want, whatever the meal is, that's ok too right? For example, I'm thinking of my two cousins who eat everything! On the other hand, my nieces are very picky! I don't mind paying for the expensive meal if the kids are going to eat it!

It is frustrating for me. We are within 12 months, but I haven't called because we don't have a date. Luckily we'll be flexible so I can play with the dates to get my venues! We should be setting a date very soon.

You'll probably have to choose one item for them, but we had a sit down meal with only one choice for the adults ....so i believe the kids menu mirrors the adult one (i.e. if you had a choice between beef or fish for the adults …the kids should have a choice between chicken or pizza)...but Disney will do anything for a price....we picked chicken fingers and fries for all....

Are you doing crown service for the adults? Even so I think you can a. either just serve what you think or b. ask the kids in advance what they perfer then tell Disney 3 chicken fingers, 10 pizza or whatever and make an iundication on your seating chart as to who gets what. Make sense? :rotfl2: I hope I am not confusing you!

Pixie08 is right.

For mine i wanted to give my guests a choice between chicken or beef. I spoke with my EM and she said this was fine. You can do crown service and ask them on the day which is more expensive or you can ask them in advanced and give the numbers to your EM about 30 days before. You then have to mark who is having what on your place cards so that the servers know who is having what - so that there not asking everybody etc. The way i was going to do this was to have a silver mickey head on the place cards for those having chicken and a gold one for those having beef.

Same applies for the kids.

Then i decided to go for a Duo plate anyway and the kids are all having chicken fingers now lol.

our kids plate was $22 at ariels this march, it had veggie sticks with dressing, chicken fingers with steak fries, mickey roni & cheese and a make your own cupcake.

So it is cheaper if you ask guests in advance and mark their place cards vs. asking them on the day? No problem with that! I thought I had to know in advance! \\ I don't know. I'd like to give them a choice, but I hadn't planned on crown service. I have to look at the menus I have again.

Also, did I hear that they're making a more uniform menu that would be the same for all the venues? If so, does anyone know when?

Yeah I heard about a uniform menu as well but they gave us seperate menus from the GF and Boardwalk. They basically said even though we are at the Boardwalk we can have stuff off the GF menu but made no mention of this "master" menu plan? Oh and yes it is MUCH cheaper to have your guests either pick in advance or do a duo plate rather than crown service.

Do you know when they are predicting the new menu? We're planning for August 2007. We'll be at the Living Seas. I do have some Epcot menus, just for browsing purposes because I know they can change.

ok new questions. i have just looked through the epcot menus i have (living seas reception). i haven't looked at htem in a while. it looks like it will be buffet. so that changes my questions about the kids, right? i mean they should be able to find something to eat in a buffet! so will there be a kids' price instead of special kids' meals?

also, if i am having a lunch reception will they let me use the dinner menu? i really don't like the lunch menus since they're just mostly sandwich-type things. i want a sit-down dinner, but buffet is ok. i presume they won't care, since dinner is more expensive anyway.
