kids' jeans that last?

In the last week I had 3 pairs of my kids' jeans get holes in them. One I had bought second hand, but the other two were "new" Target Circo jeans.

With the actual temp being 2 degrees *below* zero and the windchill being at minus 14....I need to get some new pants for these kids QUICKLY!

Can anyone recommend jeans that last? My DD really likes the "embellished" ones, but we'll buy iron-on patches if that makes the difference.

TIA,
Beth

I buy most of my DS10's jeans at Old Navy. They have some great sales, and they always last as long as they fit him.

We have had good luck with any from JCPenneys. They have lots of embellished ones. I have also heard great things about the jeans from Kohl's, but we have never bought them.

My DD LOVES the Circo jeans from Target, but they are pretty thin. I can see that they would tear easily..they also stain easily, I think.

I think Sears has a lifetime guarantee on their jeans...or something like that....anybody know how that works???

Children's Place and Osh Kosh jeans seem to be the thickest, sturdiest jeans I have found for ds. LLbean has durable ones too, and the price isn't bad if you catch them on sale.

Lands End. Sign up for emails, and they'll send you a ton of free shipping codes, plus they have sales all the time.

For fast jeans: check the clearance racks at JC Penny

I always bought my DD's jeans at Sears when they were younger. They have a program called Kidvantage. It's free to sign up for. Not only do you get coupons after spending a certain amount of money but they have a policy that they will replace shoes and clothing if your child wears it out before outgrowing it.

We would buy all of their jeans at Sears when school started. By the time Christmas came around, there were holes in the knees or the bottoms were fraying, or a seam popped so we would head back to Sears to have them replaced. My DD loved it because it was like getting a whole new wardrobe. Since the exact style was usually not available, they would allow us to exchange for the same brand. Example, Mudd for Mudd.

The only catch is that they have to be the exact size.

Here's a link if anyone is interested.

I have had good luck with Lands End (but that a few years ago - before Sears) and The Gap (but i buy them darker to start, not already half faded).:)

IMO, Kohl's used to be good but their quality has gone down in the last two years or so. Sears jeans are good. They are the Canyon River Blues brand and while they don't last for my boys, you do have that KidVantage program and it makes a big difference.

I don't like Old Navy jeans for DD because they take 'low rise" to a whole new level. I bought her a pair (which we returned) and you could see a good three inches of her underwear.

Like other PP have mentioned, Sears will replace them if the child outwears them before outgrowing them if you join Kidvantage, which is free.

I used to get my DS's jeans at Sears for that reason, but have had good luck with Old Navy at a better price. Maybe it's just that DS is getting a little older and not on his knees as much any more. He hasn't gotten one hole yet in his ON jeans since he stopped wearing shorts in the fall. That's a first for him!

Picked up several pair of Old Navy jeans for $7.50 each the day after Christmas ($10 per pair less 25% off coupon).

Steer away from The Children's Place. We've had nothing but problems with their jeans/pants for awhile now. They used to last but lately the knees have been going in as little as a couple of weeks. Not very happy about that!

My DS is 6 and he lives in Old Navy jeans. I try to get them when they have them for $10 but we have had no problem with holes in the knees. Before, I was having to replace jeans every couple of weeks because of the holes he would get in the knees.

I did buy a pair at Sears but DS prefers the snap at the waist and once you are past size 7, Sears jeans only button at the waist. Old Navy jeans still snap at size 8 (at least some styles do).

Old Navy gets my vote. My DS is 10 and very tough on clothing, but we've always done well w/ON. Best part is that you can ALWAYS find a sale.

I was going to say this same thing! Having two daughters and two nieces, I really used that guarantee. I used to keep the shoeboxes in a certain place (with the receipts inside them), and I used to keep a file folder with the jeans' receipts.

I bought other things there too, but shoes and jeans were the things that were re-used from kid to kid.

Ditto on the Sears thing. You can even save them to replace for a younger sibling when the reach the same size. I had a friend that even exchanged socks and underwear.

The Wrangler brand cargo pants at WalMart have snaps all the way up to size youth 16. I'm not sure about the denim pants.

we buy wrangler jeans at walmart for a couple of reasons, they have the elastic and buttons on the inside to shrink the waist band, they come in slims, and they have reinforced knees. My boys are close to the same size and we have had very few problems with them wearing out jeans quickly (usually it takes at least 1-2 years). Usually its fraying along the cuff or they just outgrow them.

These pants do snap as well (not buttons), my boys don't care for buttons with jeans.

I only have girls and the only place besides Old Navy we buy their jeans is the Children's place. I have never had any issues whatsoever. BUT at the same time they have 2 separate types of clothes, school/going out clothes and play clothes. They have to change the minute they get home into their play clothes. This has WORKED great. I never have to buy my 3 yr. old twins clothes cause they get my 5 yr. old that don't fit.. I wash ALL their clothes inside out on delicate cycle and treat stains ASAP.

nothing but good things to say about GAP jeans. and from time to time they run them on sale if you buy more than one, and then you can stack a coupon on top too. they are also great uniform pants, all of my daughter's uniforms come from there and they cost less than what you get at walmart.
