Kids in Hot tubs?

"Fatties in the hottub!?!?"

Hey, I resemble that remark!!!!

No one is sniveling....if DCL has a policy then it should be enforced, but the problem seems to be that they have a policy in the brochure and by the hot tubs and then show kids in the hot tubs in the promotional videos....mixed message.

If DCL allows younger children in the hot tubs, then fine, let the kids enjoy!!!! DCL just needs to clarify their policies. And, I think parents should advise their kids (and themselves) that they can't stay in there for great lengths of time because many people would like the chance to soak for a bit!

Hey Emma's Grammy after May Day Falls what are you going to be doing in the hot tub for our cruise? ;)

:rotfl:

Cheers,
Grumbo

I never knew there was a rule either. There are always lots of unsupervised kids in the hot tub. I think children under 12 should be accompanied by an adult or asked to leave. I have never seen this rule enforced at WDW either.Kids do park themselves in there playing and splashing like it is a kids pool. As far as waddling over to the adult hot tub-I may want to enjoy the hot tub and keep an eye on my ds in the goofy pool. In my opinion, parents let younger children have way too much freedom on the cruise. If this is the rule then it should be enforced, but I bet they just have to be with a n adult.

Grumbo,

All is safe!!! Rest assured the swimsuits I bought this year will remain securely fasten on!! But I may be willing to do a repeat performance if they would only let me on that Mickey slide!!!

I could clear out the Mickey pool and all of deck #9!!! There'd be plenty of room in them thar pools!!!!:earseek:

zandy...thank you for posting that article....I thought I had heard that young kids should not have prolonged stays in hot tubs...I am not nuts after all!!!

Disney should include that info somewhere. Usually there are rules for a good reason. I'm surprised they don't enforce the rule for fear something adverse could happen. Maybe just by having the rule they are protected. Does anyone know?

Its been a couple years but if I'm remembering correctly, there are NOT hotubs by the Goofy Pool. They are just 'whirlpools' with warm [not hot]water. They are referred to as 'whirlpools' and children ARE allowed in them. The water temperature in these whirlpools should not be unsafe for children. The 'hotubs' are by the adult pool only and follow the same age restriction as the adult pool.

MJ ~ No, you are not nuts. :D I knew kids weren't supposed to be in hot tubs very long, but I didn't want to say anything without being able to back it up. I don't know how hot the water is on the DCL ships, but the person who asked that question said they kept their's in the low 90°'s.

I was in the ones at the goofy pool in May and they were HOT, to hot for my daughter to even get in. She couldn't even put more than her foot in becuase it was so warm. They were no way just warm...it was darn hot, I couldn't even stay in to long!

Okay folks, let's knock off the rude comments regarding the cruisers who are larger sized. We don't tolerate insults and calling someone a "fattie" definitely falls into that category.

As for the topic, I was in the adult pool and a couple of young teens came running over and jumped into the hot tub. In a matter of moments, a CM told them that they had to leave.

That's nothing compared to the family who blew up a little float for their baby and brought him into the adult pool. We left before seeing what was done in that situation.

I fear you have missed the point completely: the hot tubs are just NOT BIG ENOUGH for everyone to use when required:CHILDREN or ANY SIZE adults. For medical reasons I need to exercise in very warm water: sadly, I never had the opportunity, as 3 guests spread themselves out in the tubs which should seat twice as many! Other guests also made the same comments: Maybe Disney should look at limiting times spent in the hot-tubs, OR extend them. A bit of "give and take" among guests wouldnt go amis. 99% of guests are lovely (size is irrelevant) - just the odd few seem to think they own the ship.Anyone on our cruise will remember "Ursula"!!! natdencro: I thought your post about "fatties" was a little harsh and uncalled for because overweight people have feelings too, but I do agree with you about the "hot tub hogs" (not talking about weight here, I mean people who hog the hot tubs and stay in them forever). I remember one poster here who has taken many cruises saying they "park their butts" in the hot tub and that's where they stay the whole time they are at the pool and I just think that is so rude. Most everyone enjoys spending a little time in the hot tub and should be able to have a turn, but it's hard when a small number of people stay in them for hours and don't give other people a chance to use them. I think it would be hard for DCL to limit people's time in the hot tubs though, but just a little common sense and courtesy from fellow passengers would give everyone else a chance to use them too. When DH and I cruise and spend time at the pool area, we are in the hot tub no more than 20 minutes. Then we get out and give someone else a turn to use it.

i think they should enforce the no one under 16 allowed. i'll be going on a cruise april 24th.. cant wait!! and i'll be 16 then!

Aw, Chatty, you hurt my feelings...it's Tony and I who park our butts in the hot tubs from embarkation till the safety drill! And now you made me cry! (Not really.) :jester:
I never think of it as hot tub hogging, particularly since the hot tubs are never full of people, or even close to it, during that time span on embarkation day. I also look at it this way...first come, first served. If people are all in the cushy deck chairs on deck 4, and they got there first, I don't expect them to move for me after a certain length of time. I wouldn't expect fellow passengers to limit their time in the pools, even though space in those is often at a premium too, especially on at-sea days. Maybe it's selfish of me, but that's just my two cents...if you don't agree, no biggie to me.

on our last cruise i never got near the pools/hot tubs, let alone in them....i was too busy doing other stuff.....maybe i'll check them ou this time....
as for Barb and Tony....i can attest to the fact that they do indeed hang out in the adult hot tub from boarding until the drill....when we walked by while taking our get-to-know tour of the ship, there they were, just like they'd promised they'd be on these boards for anyone looking for them....

as for the kiddie pools, according to my kids the CMs refer to them as the pee pools.....at least the CMs who run common grounds do.......given the size of the pools (not much bigger than a bathtub) and the number of kids per square inch, well.....it would seem the name is probably quite accurate....

Kids are a problem in any hot tub as they are not very good at the "paper work"!!:teeth:

I care because I like to use the hot tubs - and kids don't belong in them for a number of reasons.

I'm just curious as to what those reasons are exactly.

Just look at the color of the water in the mickey pool by afternoon and you wouldn't go anywhere near it. One day it was gray and cloudy the next day brownish and cloudy...not exactly the best looking of pools I have ever seen! The goofy pool was so cloudy the day I took my daughter there you couldn't see the bottom and with all the kids jumping off the sides into the pool not looking where they were gon it was downright dangerous.
