I have read some old threads relating to this topic. I was wondering if Walmart still has the engraving machines? If not, has anyone seen anything in the stores that would work well. I have no time to order online.

TIA
Chris

I took the kids and let them pick out the tag they wanted -- red hearts -- and engraved them with "Mom's Cell" and my number. It cost about $15. each and we watched the machine make them, which was fun.

ok dumb question - where did you attach them? to shoe laces or such???

DD wore hers on a chain as a pendant, but I've seen them on shoelaces, bracelets, and on lanyards as well.

Hi-we have used them a bunch of times. i ordered the kind that actually are meant to go on your shoes and since the kids wored the same tennis shoes the whole time, it was easy. The last trip we went on to Chicago-i was nervous :worried: since it was a big city :scared: and not an enclosed park :earsboy: - we used the tags you are talking about.(the shoe ones had old numbers on them) from Walmart. I think the price was higher for the shoe ones-but not much-and you could fit more on the back if you wanted to pay more. i have to say the shoe ones were less to think about and make sure the kids had them on. I still have the "pet" :dog: style tags that we will use unless numbers change again.
If you go to 'themouseforless.com' they have tags you can make-a bunch of them -for free :woohoo: - and laminate them and pin them in your child's clothing or even put on a tag. You could even go to a print/copy shop and use that thicker/harder laminate-have them punch a hole through(It wont break-the thick kind) and put it on a lanyard or ball chain. I liked the "mouse for less" ones also since you could make an ID for yourself to show a policeman ::cop: or Disney security(God forbid) of your child. Quick, easy and inexpensive-even if you get the really thick laminate. I really like all the pre trip activities on that site and this ID thing too. :Pinkbounc

They use to have them in the parks as well . I haven't checked as DDis 13 now but we have a few made one that sticks in my head is at AK in the store exiting Dino.

MCO also had one in the Universal store.

Our Wallmart does not have the machine anymore, but the local Petco (Pet supply store) has one - I made one on a red heart for my DGD.

Hello all,
Just wanted to pass along, I purchased a small notebook made by "Mead" and each page has three paper wrist tags that have sticky stuff on them to be able to make it to the right size (the kind you get at concerts, fairs, etc.). There are enough in the packet for all three of my kids to have a new one each day we are there for the week. I will put their name, our cell and the Disney Resort we are staying at on them. The whole note book was $2.50
and is disposable.
I got them at Office Depot, but any office supply store should have them. The technical name on is "Mead Wrist Reminders"

Definitely good in a pinch for time and not very expensive.

My local Walmarts (2 stores) and PetSmart all have machines. You could possibly also try Things Remembered if you have one of those locally. My DD's just have a card in their fanny packs with their name, which resort they are staying at, and my cell phone number. I laminate it with the self sticking stuff to protect it in case it gets wet. Their fanny packs have a spot for a driver's license so the card just slides right in there. My sister's kids have the "Who's Shoes" tags. Another possible solution is to use small luggage tags and hang those from their pants (if they have belt loops) if you can't get anything else.

I'm putting mine on my little one's backpack harness (and another one made from a color-preferred Michey head paint chip) inside. I took simple labels and printe dour info on them, put them on cardstock, laminated, and punched 2 holes. Then a took those coiled shoe laces and used one for each child. They seem to hold the tags tight and I should be able to twist them nice and tight around the strap. Of course, I have condered getting some new LGMHs and using those.

I used mickey head paint chips too. I cut out two of them and glued them back to back and laminated them with my cell phone and DH's cell phone numbers on them. I'll pin them to the back of their shirts when we go.

I never made special tags. Both of my kids (5 and 8) wore fanny packs, so we put our cell phone numbers on index cards inside the fanny packs. Both kids knew where they were and what they were for.
