kids health...advise???? I'm stumped!

:grouphug: Keep us posted. When one of my DSs was a toddler, he went through a stage of having recurring high fevers. It turned out to be ear infections that never quite went away even though he was treated with antibiotics. Ear tubes were inserted and he outgrew the problem. I'm hoping your dd has something so simple and easily treatable.

OP, prayers being said that your dd gets better asap and you get answers soon:hug:

Dr. from the children's hospital called me a bit ago. He thinks (depending on what the test results say this week or next) that we need to go ahead and get her tonsils and adnoides removed. He's seen problems similar to hers and once those are removed some children are rarely ever sick again. Even though she's only had strep 3 times in her life- her throat always looks red when we bring her in and there's ALWAYS swelling-

I'm not concerned about getting those taken out at all. It was the best thing we ever did for my DD8- who also missed a 12 days of school when she was in Kinder. But, for her it was ALWAYS strep. Since her tonsils were taken out, she's rarely sick at all.

The reason why we didn't really push to do it in the first place was because DD6 was having NO SIMILAR symptoms at all to what DD8 went through.

Well, maybe we can get it taken care of and hope for the best. He still wants to see what the other test results say first. We'll know by the middle of next week.

Hopefully this is what is causing the issues and it can be fixed quickly and with minimal fuss and pain. Saying a prayer for you all!

Was wondering if there was any further update? Your little girl has been in my thoughts.

Tomorrow is the day we go back to the children's hospital. We have a 'late afternoon' appointment. She actually just got really crabby about an hour ago- and threw a HUGE fit- so I'm wondering if she's getting sick again. She never gets THIS mad unless she comes down with a fever an hour or two later...but then again she could just be tired too. I won't jump to conclusions yet.

My prayers are with you and your little girl. Unexplained sicknesses are never fun. I hope she feels better soon and you find out what is wrong with her.
Just a suggestion. Next time she has a high fever try getting her to drink Gatorade of Powerade. I know when I had the "swine flu" type flu this past year, orange Gatorade was the only thing that tasted good. Water was not appealing in or off the least. Because of this I was super dehydrated. The Gatorade helped bring my fever down and broke the dehydration. I hope that helps. Please keep us updated.

Will be praying for all of you!

We went through something where dd got bruises all over her (looked like an abused child-they were quarter size and larger, swelling and vomiting. It was scary to go through, found out it was HSP and went away.....but we sure had a scary weekend till it was finally diagnosed, so I will be thinking of you and hoping for some type of news for you guys!

She had her tonsills out- the day after her appt. on the 8th. She had issues with bleeding and wasn't feeling well, so they kept her over night. They sent her home on the 10th and she was miserable. Not eating anything, not drinking anything. Dr. told me to bring her back yesterday morning. She's now in the hospital with IV fluids. it's been 24 hours. DH is with her now- it's the first break I've had in a week. Off to bed for me. Hoping that she gets better so they can send her home tomorrow.

So sorry she's experiencing further issues after surgery. Prayers being sent that she's on her well to a full and complete recovery.

She will continue to be in my thoughts. I hope she is able to feel better and gets to come home soon.

I came home this morning to get away from the hospital stress (and the smell, but that's a different issue!!!) DH is with her again this morning. The Dr. from the children's hospital called her Dr. here and scheduled another group of tests to be done this afternoon...she will be in another night, arrrrggg! They've tested her for so many things- and I've heard SOOOOOO much about "false negative possiblities" over the last two days, I'm ready to scream. Later on they are doing a check through her digestive tract, so she needs to be put to sleep. It scares me that she needs to go under again, because she had such trouble with it last week! They said that they'd do less meds. for it and hopefully that will help.

The children's hospital specialist is now leaning towards checking her for things like Crohn's and 'digestive issues' which she could be getting infections from that cause her fevers and tiredness. No matter what it is, it's still good that her tonsills came out, because they were huge. They'd swell up frequently and she'd be getting less sleep.

I'm sick of the 'well, it could be this' and then another two hours later, we've ruled 'that' out and we're on the next 'it could be that'...I wish they'd just not tell me sometimes! If they don't know what it is, don't take a 'shot in the dark' and tell me "we're sure it's this but, it may not be."

DD6 is tired out, been sleeping a lot and is asking when she can go back to school...Sounds like herself! She's doing well for the stuff she's been through in the past few months (esp. this last week!). She won't be awake for 1 single test she gets done today- they're doing them all while she's under- should only take 20-30 minutes they said.

Well, for me it's a shower and I'll stop by starbucks and back to the hospital. We've been told that she will go home tomorrow- but we heard that yesterday, so I'm not sure what to believe. ALTHOUGH, I would rather have her there if she needs to be, because I don't want to get home with her and realize that we took her home too soon!

Oh poor kid. You are all in my prayers. I hope you get some answers soon.

Have they tested her for RA? My neice had the same problems when she was young and the DR's never could find out what was wrong. It stopped for awhile but after she hit puberty she started having the symptoms again, since they were in a different city, they saw a new doctor. Well that doctor on a whim tested her for RA and sure enough that is what she had. It is just a thought and wouldn't hurt to rule it out since they are testing for other things.
