My children have an Aunt Penney! My DB and DSIL live on the east coast, so we don't get to see them very often.

Wow you girls talk a lot. :lmao: I can't keep up with all of the posts I missed while I was at work today. :goodvibes I love the outfits posted today.....here are a few pics of my creations. Thanks for all of the compliments. If I missed any questions; resend. DH is getting irritated that I'm constantly on the computer. (He'll get over it.) :surfweb:

These are great! I have seen (and wanted to buy) your stuff before on :wizard: And my computer wouldn't let me quote the photos? It said I had too many images in my post. Doesn't look like too many to me :confused3
I haven't caught up on the posts since I last posted, but I will in a bit. I just HAD to tell you all that
I GOT A NEW SEWING MACHINE
My dear, wonderful, amazingly generous sister let me buy her brand spankin' new Brother CS-6000i for $50!!! Actually, she said I could have it for $30, but I gave her $50!

I LOVE IT!! It beeps!!!! It's SO much fun to sew on!!! How did I ever manage with that old machine? :rotfl: I can't wait to applique on it!!

In case you're wondering how she can sell it to me for $30, that's what she paid for it! She got the floor model at WalMart for $30 a while back. It didn't have a foot pedal or manual or anything with it. So, she called Brother and they sent her all of that stuff for free!

I was going to make a video showing you guys how I had fixed my old machine and you'd click on it and see that I just got a new machine. But, I was too excited to take the time to do that.

   This is how happy I am!!

WOO HOOO!!! How exciting!!!

You cracky me up Teresa! And what a sweet sister you are! Yay Heather! I also have the Costco version of this machine and so far I  it! I spent half the day yesterday appliqueing mickey heads and I think I'm much better at it now! I think I did 8 t-shirts! I should be posting photos of all my trip customs some time today, seeing as how I ought to get packing! We leave in 2 DAYS!

What? Did you say that you wanted to see the dress Megan wore when she was a flower girl in her Aunt Penny's wedding? Well, ok, if you really want to:

Too funny Steph!

How about, "I don't have money, but I still NEED fabric!"? I am so good, I went into Joanns yesterday and only bought what I really needed! (2 t-shirts)

Jham,

I am brillant :confused3 and just figured out you are going to WDW this week LOL. I was informed by a 6 year old that she NEEDED to go to WDW this weekend. I think we are planning AK Friday and play the rest by ear. Maybe we will run into you. What customs should we look for?

Cindee

Has anyone started easter yet? This is from last year, but I am just starting to think of easter.

Lori

This is sooo cute! But Easter? Heck, I haven't even started a valentine's outfit yet!:rotfl: Luckily I only have to make one valentine outfit! My mom bought my DD1 a really cute outfit that is going to be her vday outfit!

Steph- for some reason it wouldn't let me quote you but Megan is sooo cute in that picture!

After posting a picture of my fancy (for me anyway - LOL) new serger - I thought you all would like to see what I am sewing with. It's an oldie but goodie!:goodvibes

My DH knows I'm addicted to Sixteen Candles. I have no idea how many times I've made him watch it but now he likes it......but I hate wine coolers! Bad experience with peach Bartles and James when I was way too young to drink them! Haven't touched them since!
Bartles and James :rotfl2: ! Do they still make that stuff? Remember the two old guys in the rocking chairs? What a great way to advertise wine cooler! I'm so glad I'm not the only one who can quote most lines (although I tend to butcher them) from The Breakfast Club!

Okay, now I'm feeling guilty about never having seen that movie, especially since my DD2's name is Claire! Kind of wish I had seen it before I named her!

Probably we are going to get the park hoppers. When DH agreed that the kids and I could tag along on his business trip (he's staying at the Dolphin) and extend it by a couple of days I said that in order to save money we would use airmiles for the 3 tickets for us, hotel points to stay at a Doubletree Suites for the extended part of the vacation and that I wouldn't buy park hopper passes to save money. But we are going to be there for 8 days so I am rethinking this. Also, since money has been tight I have been scrimping and saving like a good girl and he went and played paintball this weekend. When he said he was going to do that (and I totally think it is a hokey thing to do, it's like they are still kids again playing cops and robbers and he comes home bruised up with spots from the paintballs - how much fun is that?) I said I get park hopper passes then. I'm not normally like that but it kind of ticked me off that I'm cutting back and he is playing paintball. Of course, he would argue that my sewing/fabric habit is expensive too but that is, of course, way off base  ! I mean, I actually make something for my kids to wear so it's worht it right?

I want to clarify that I LOVE the name Claire!! I don't think it's a fat girl's name at all, I was just mad that the woman said Tessa was a dog's name!

I agree with you on the paintball. My DH has played that on occasion and comes home all bruised up. We have a male friend who got permanent damage in the "nether regions" after a game of paintball. EEEE-OWWWW!!!

Thanks for the welcome!!!!!!:yay: I have been making pretty basic stuff since April when I got a sewing machine for my birthday. I can't wait to be able to post pictures!!! Lily turns 1 today so I have made a birthday outfit for her. Although I have pants cut out to match, they may not get made in time for the party.LOL.

HeatherSue - About Lily's name. It never occurred to me about LOST until my hubby pointed it out. (He also pointed out that Harry Potters mom's name was Lily and our boy name was James which was Harry's dad. Go figure!) LOST is my hubby's favorite show so he was quick to make that connection!

Lorna
:bday: party: Lily!! Sorry I'm a day late!

My favorite show is Lost, too. Although, I still maintain that Sawyer is not named after Sawyer from the show. I saw it in a baby book and it said it meant "cutter of wood" (obviously). I thought that was perfect since my grandpa had a sawmill and Henry and my dad build houses.

I am so excited to use it! My mom got me the JoAnn (Viking) day after Thanksgiving singer serger - well - I took it to Viking and neither they now I could get it to work right. Loose sloppy stitches - just yuck. So I traded up!!!!
th_DSC_2217.jpg

YAY!! That looks really nice!

I took the fabric in and when I told the lady that I needed to return it b/c after I washed it, she cut me off to say that they didn't take back material once it had been washed. I said but I washed it and the black dye from the polka dots and scotty dogs had bled all over the material, she paused for minute and said "I'm gonna make a judgement call and give you a refund b/c I think that this is damaged". YOU BET IT IS!!!! I was seriously starting to think that they weren't going to refund my money. That material was 15.00 for 2 yards -- I never spend that much money on fabric. She gave me my money back and it got me thinking that I will be much more careful on the fabric that I buy that looks like it "might" bleed.

What kind of stupid return policy is that? So, you're never supposed to wash fabric? Hello!! It's fabric, it's going to need to be washed! I'm glad they gave you your money back!

Hancock's refund policies stink!:headache: I was in there yesterday returning this stash of bias tape. (I went with a different color from a different store) The manager said she could only give me half the cost back, because bias tape was just on sale over the weekend!!:confused3 I was like "whatever" I can't use it & it'll just sit in my closet for years or end up at Good Will! As I was forcing a very audible sigh, my eyes looked past the cash register & low & behold.....the bleeding scotty dog/polks dot fabric was displayed as a new fabric. Top dollar per yard of course! I just wanted to scream that fabric is horrible, don't buy it! :snooty:

I wish JoAnn's was closer to my house, I'd prefer to frequent shop there instead of Hancocks. All but one local Walmart did away with their fabric centers. Geez, just when you've caught an addictive obsession with buying Disney fabrics....they make it harder to buy it!

I can just see you now, jumping to the top of the cutting counter, screaming in rage "Don't buy the overpriced bleeding scotty dog fabric!", all Prince Edward from Enchanted style!

DD wants me to make her "friend" (babysitter's daughter) a dress for the litle girl's birthday party in 2 weeks. I am already soooo far behind onmy disney customs!! :scared1: Any ideas for somehting "whip-up-able" for a 1 year old?
Someone may have already suggested this, but how about a peasant dress or a pillowcase dress? They both look adorable on a 1 year old!

I just found out an acquaintance is going to Disney two days after we return home. She has asked me before to make her DD something but I just never got around to it. I "whipped" this up today and will see if she likes it.

Very cute!!

My mom sews on a machine she bought in the early 60's. she loves it!!!!

My computer connection is on the fritz, so I will make this quick. I have been working on this Nemo outfit for the past few days. I haven't finished the pants yet, but here is the top. The characters on the bottom of the dress are Nemo, the pufferfish, the pink octopus, Gill, and Dory. There is still room for one more and Ireland wants Crush..we'll see...

I love it!!

For whoever asked to see the new Friends Around the World fabric from JoAnns... the baby was in a good mood yesterday so I was able to make a quick trip to pick some up...
100_1437.jpg

Both fabrics say "Friends all around the world hold hands and share their hearts."

And for comparison here is the fabric from Hancocks that I bought last year:

Well the board is kind of slow today! So lets do something fun!! Show me your favorite disney customs pictures in the parks!!
here is nicholas in MGM!!!!

Thanks everyone for the directions. Here's what I came up with using scrap fabric I had around. These will be Tink gifts for the girls.
http://http://http://
Very cute pillowcases! One day I'll get around to making some!

Very cute, I just love Nemo! That was the first movie Tessa saw, when she was about 3 months old (I think). She actually liked it and laughed and cooed!

Oh, I have an Aunt Penny too. Her real name is Priscilla! The weird thing is that I was dreaming about her the other night.
Welcome to the Aunt Penny club!

We are getting 10 day hoppers this year!! WOO HOO!!! I've never had such passes before in my life! I am BEYOND excited about this! We usually get the non expiring hoppers, but I figured that is really doesn't cost much more to get the 10 day expiring passes than the 5

These are great!!! I'm thinking now that I may need to make some for us. I have an ever growing list of things I need to make though, so we'll see!
:woohoo: 10 DAY PARK HOPPERS!!!!:woohoo: I am so excited about this!!!!!

Um, Teresa, exactly how much time do you think we have before we go to Disney, anyway? What are you working on making today? ;)

BTW - You should consider having your older machine serviced so you have a back-up plus you could leave it set up to do ruffling or a similar task. I recently pulled out my old Kenmore machine to put the ruffler foot on it thinking I'd just leave it out a short time. Now, though, I'm spoiled by not having to switch out the feet or change settings on the machine whenever I want to ruffle something. I need to get the machine serviced, though, because the needle thread keeps breaking... very aggravating!

That is exactly what I was thinking of doing! I hate putting the ruffler foot on. Also, I won't have to buy a new ruffler for my new machine and I'd have a spare. I'll have to see how much it will cost to fix, though.

What do you think Heather? Should we get pixied?? How about Barbara and Mom?
Wow, you must have like the BEST SISTER EVER!!!! WOW!!!

(yeah, I'm a dork!)
Are you done with that Cinderella dress yet??

I don't know if I want to get pixied. I always wear a baseball cap or visor in the parks since my eyes are so stinkin' sensitive to the sun. It would be fun, though!

I do have the BEST SISTER EVER!!!!!

Yes, you are a dork! That's why I love you!

No, I haven't had a spare minute to sew since yesterday. My little stinker is on the run. I plan to put him to bed as soon as I finish typing this reply and then I'll get to work!!

I bought a pillowcase (little mermaid). Now we are talking about making stuff out of the standard size ones right? It just seems really big but I guess I am looking at it for a 2 year old. I got it and it is with my other stuff that I will eventually try. :)

I have the little mermaid case and it does seem really big, even for a tall 4.5 year old! I haven't figure out what to do with it yet. I'm thinking maybe something similar to the Build A Bear dress Teresa made for Lydia.

Easter? No way! I'm already working on 4th of July (insert extreme sarcasm and crossed fingers behind my back here)!! This is just too adorable!!!

What? Did you say that you wanted to see the dress Megan wore when she was a flower girl in her Aunt Penny's wedding? Well, ok, if you really want to:

th)100_0756.jpg

What are the girls going to wear?
HeatherSue: Congrats on your new sewing machine! I wish mine beeped, LOL!

Camelotcats: Your purses are so pretty and unique. I love them.

How did you ever hear me say I wanted to see Megan in that dress! I did, I really did!! She looks absolutely gorgeous!

You are coveting my beeping sewing machine, aren't you?;) I don't blame you!

Tessa and Lydia will be wearing this dress (minus the brown shirt) we got on Voldemort that the bride picked out. Lydia's is slightly different.

I want to join the "I have an Aunt Penny club". But my Aunts "real" name is Charlene. Sadly she passed away a few years ago (before she was 50). She never got to meet Morgan (or Jord LOL). She still holds a very special place in my heart. (She helped raise us when my parents spilt up).

I think Aunt Penny's are special people:hug:

Aw, welcome to the Aunt Penny club. How said that she passed away so young.

My children have an Aunt Penney! My DB and DSIL live on the east coast, so we don't get to see them very often.

I'm going to have to tell my Aunt Penny about our club! Welcome! Should we call ourselves the Penny Nieces? Can we think up something catchier?

You cracky me up Teresa! And what a sweet sister you are! Yay Heather! I also have the Costco version of this machine and so far I  it! 2 DAYS!!!! WOO-HOO!!!!! Teresa is a great sister!

She looks like a good 'ol girl!

Very cute fabric!!

Okay ladies, I think I may be crazy! I just e-mailed this organization about this dog:
http://search.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi?petid=10066192

I think I'm in love!! I've been considering getting a 2nd dog as a companion to our little Josie (and us, of course). But, I also think I'm crazy for wanting 2 dogs! We had 2 dogs before my beloved Tomia died (she was 16).

I even called Henry to see what he thinks. He said as long as I agree to pay the adoption fee, he's fine with it.

Tell me I'm crazy! The woman hasn't e-mailed me back yet to let me know if good 'ol Scout is still available, so this may be a moot point.

Just wanted to let everyone know that youcanmakethis.com has a new newsletter out and if you sign up for it you get 5 freebies. One of the freebies is a really cute purse that I am dying to make!

He's so cute!! He makes me want to take him home. If you think that you're up to and that your family can handle it I say go for it. He is adorable.

For us non-creative people, is there any places we could buy these adorable outfits??? Are any of them on Ebay?

Yikes, glad they refunded you the money....now did you buy something else while you were there or did you actually leave with money in hand??:rolleyes1 (something I never do...:rotfl: )

I actually did leave with all of my refund me -- I was soooo proud of myself!
