I'm pretty sure it's ok for you to pm someone about an outfit you want, etc. You are just not allowed to say, hey I'm listing this one on ebay and here is the link. I think a while back the mods even said it was ok to post your ebay id, just no links to auctions.

I haven't been on here in awhile. I've had sick kids. Yuck! Anyway, the outfits posted lately are SO ADORABLE. I'm too scared yet to try anything with tulle. Maybe someday. Here's what I've been working on. It's Tinker Bell fabric, plain orange, and plain hot pink.

The backs are slightly different. DD5 has straps that cross in the back and DD3 has ties. It's my first attempt at shirring (is that what it's called?), meaning I made the back with elastic so it's stretchy.

Also, I tried ordering the Minnie fabric that was on sale at 40% off, but it's not on sale anymore. Maybe next time.

Glad your kids are better. I like what you've done with this fabric.

Maybe I should try this shirring thing. Did you use a pattern?

In a way earlier post (no idea where) Castle Creations told how to do it using elastic thread in the bobbin. I have not been able to find elastic thread. The way she described it sounded pretty easy. Maybe PM her?

I found the elastic thread at Joanns with the other elastics not with the thread as I thought. I learned from the tulle skirt instructions that it makes gathering much easier.
Now I'm off to search the pages for CastleCreations instructions. Thanks.

It's the layered tulle skirt from YCMT. I actually added it to the swap. Let me know if you want it now.

LadyRob-

SOOOO cute! Great work! You need to sell skirts - they're precious. I'll buy one! (Name your price ;) )

Did he use a pattern or something? So cute, I'd love to do this! If it's a pattern or whatever, could you either post here or PM me where to get it, thanks!

Jan

I will PM you.

Love these poofy skirts! I want one!! I have so many projects I should be working on right now:rolleyes1 Maybe someday :cloud9: jen

I used the instructions from Castle Creations. Wind the elastic thread around the bobbin. Use plain white on top. Use a wide stitch. I used 4. Stitch straight across your fabric, one row at a time. It wouldn't be too hard keeping the rows straight. I used the presser foot as I guide. My rows could've been better, but my daughter wanted her dress Right Now! I should've used more fabric on the back. I THINK I read you should double the fabric. I didn't and the dresses aren't very loose around. I didn't have a pattern. Made the whole thing up as I went along.

I found the elastic thread hanging with the other elastic, not with the thread. Took me awhile to find it. Oh, I think there were instructions on the back of the thread carton on shirring.

I would like to offer you all a challenge:

We all have outfits with Minnie dots and Mickey shapes and printed fabrics. Everyone has shown some really great stuff...except for me because I haven't learned how to post yet. (LAZY!)

Now, what about an outfit for MGM? This so far for me is the hardest park to theme an outfit around. I loved someone's Rock n Roller coaster outfit...very cute. But what about one that is just themed on the park? Like maybe a movie star outfit? Any ideas? I would like to hear from you all to get my imagination going.

OK, I couldn't take it anymore! I had to make a Disney outfit! It should still fit in Dec - at least I hope! I used the new Mickey fabric from Wal-Mart. I blinged the t-shirt with some iron-on crystals. I can't wait to try it on her!

It's not crooked in person, just hanging kind of wonky.

That is do adorable!! I saw the pink Mickey fabric at Walmart a few weeks ago. I love what you did with it!!

I've been loving this thread! As a matter of fact I dusted off the old sewing machine and purchased $90 :scared: worth of material and supplies at Joann's today. Didn't get any disney stuff since our next trip is not for a little bit but I figured I would freshen up my skills. Here are some pics of stuff we made for our last disney trip. These were all with some help from my mother this time I'm going it alone.

Since we were so close to our trip when we decided to start making stuff what we did was go to Target and get really cute shirts on sale for $2-3 a piece and then embroidered them with disney stuff. I wish I had more pics of that stuff but I didn't think of taking them.
Cute outfits and kids!

Again, cute outfit and cute model!

She's adorable!

Lovin' all the outfits that have been posted but wanted to add something to the autograph pillowcase dress.

I looove the idea that you all have had but wanted to offer a different option as well. When my kids get their autographs from characters and I make their scrapbook, I trace the autograph on a different page that I can put into the scrapbook without tearing out the original. My idea would be to trace the autographs onto the pillowcase dress and then embroidery over it in the different colors that go with that character. I know you would most likely have to have a steady hand but how cute would a pillowcase dress be with embroided autographs on it! Am I just dreaming that this might actually work?

That is super cute!! I'm brainstorming a Cat in the Hat outfit now for our upcoming trip. I'm just having a hard time figuring out what to make for a baby. She'll only be 15 months when we go.

In your previous post you mentioned a kite w/string. Is there one on the outfit or are you describing the fabric?

Ooh I'd love that! My daughter's name is after two famous movie stars (well we really liked the name, and the two are pretty famous) Audrey Grace. We have an adorable pic of her sitting on the Audrey Hepburn star at Universal Studios.

The Great Movie Ride is one of my favorites. I was thinking of doing a Wizard of Oz for that day. well I've also commisioned a Little Einsteins outfit that will work for the character meal too.

It would work and be stunning, but sooooo time consuming!

I figured it might be. Since it is going to be a couple of years before we are back at Disney World, I might make this a project to work on every now & then since the pillowcase dresses can be worn for a looong time.
