Here are the Princess outfits I made for Kirsta on our last trip. She is always asking for a Princess dress to wear, but I hate to have her wear it in the park and sweat all over it in the heat or tear it getting on a ride. So I took a skort and tshirt and used a Simplicity costume pattern to dress them up. She was a hit with the cast members, they'd ask the Princess if that was her summer dress. She thought she was hot stuff.

There a few things I'd do different next time. On the Belle, I wouldn't do the point on the top. I forgot the Kirsta likes to push her shorts and skirts down off her belly. And the Cinderella, I do the flounce on the skirt instead of the top. It just sort of stuck out in the air. MomMom made her a few appliques on the outfits that are from the Disney embroidery machine. The edge of the skirt has a flower design that relates to the Princess.

I really like the Snow White. Do you have another close up of that one? I'd really like to try and copy that one if you don't mind!!!

Nice job, Sally. I love these. I think my favorite is the Snow White outfit. It just looks so cool and comfy. Don't get me wrong. I think the others I've seen have been great, too. Having just come back yesterday though, I'm liking the shorter and less bulky skirts (scooters).

I took a navy tshirt and loosened the ribbing of the neck band in the front. Then I cut down the front of the tshirt and added yellow pipping. Reattached the neck band. I removed the sleeves, and used the sleeves in the simplicity pattern in lt. blue cotton. Red ribbon to look like the inserts. I used the collar to the pattern and attatched it to the neck of the tshirt. I used a really stiff craft cotton. I don't know what it's called, I got it at Hancocks. The cape was separate. I used the pattern also, just cut it shorter. Bought a yellow skort.

And then there is the back of the Aurora. I used the pattern for the white colllar thing. Kirsta had on the pink tank top. I put the white collar on to see where to place it. Stitched it down. I marked her waist and trimmed it off, made the pink pointed skirt and attatched it to the hem. Bought a pink skort.

I think the Aurora is my favorite. Snow White second. I think if I make changes to the Cinderella and Belle, I'd like them alot better. I'm a freak when it comes to details.

Thanks for the extra Snow White pics! It's funny I actually have a blue color t-shirt in hand, that might just work. The collar and cape looks a little tricky though. What pattern number did you use? thanks again!

Simplicity 9384. I think I cut the collar down to. According to the pattern, I think it gets velcro, so I tried that it I thought it was a mess. So I just sewed it down to the back of the shirt. The stiffy stuff I bought really made it stand up. It was an iron on interfacing and stiff as a board. The cape, no, it was pretty easy. It drapes over the shoulders and gets sewn in the front. Then a light blue peice gets wrapped around it so you don't see the stitches. (reminds me of how hair bows get wrapped).

Just caught up on this thread after missing it for a few days....great designs everyone! I did some basic stuff for our last trip in November but would love to try new outfits for our next trip in 2008. Lots of inspirational ideas! Thanks everyone!

Well I'm a newbie and I've never posted to any board EVER until coming here!

I've been lurking and at the same time a bit frightened :rolleyes1

I first have to say... Hello to all and I love seeing what everyone is doing! I've been reading through this entire thread over the last few days and have finally gotten through it. The outfits are great and I'll be working on ours soon. (5DKs, three will be wearing customs, two are too old & too cool) I Should've started already but I like to procrastinate and I've been doing the matching jewels first! I've noticed that some of you have found your matching accessories and some want to know where to get them SOOO... I have an Ebay store and have just listed some new stuff plus I'm running a sale until Monday AM. Whether you're leaving in a week or a year from now I might just have what you need plus I have boys so I like to make sure the boys have jewels too. My user/seller ID is KelBias so if you get a chance, check it out. I take custom/special orders in addition to what I have listed plus I make new stuff all the time. I've tried adding pics but can't do it yet. What does your post count have to be before you can put in pictures?

Keep making & buying the awesome outfits plus posting the pictures. This place is so much fun I can't stay away!

I now have to figure out the ticker, pictures, and everything else!

I'm sure I saw embroidered hair bows on this thread. Does anyone have an idea where? I think I've looked at each page two or three times. I want to show my Mom. She has the Disney embriodery machine and I was hoping we could figure it out.

I've been working on quilted jackets. She should be able to wear this on the airplane. The sleeve can be worn cuffed up or down. On Kirsta, when I cuff it up, it makes it look like it's too small on her. I am so glad I'm raising a Disney freak!!!

Such cute stuff!!! I just bought a Minnie bottlecap from you. I emailed you about a Peter Pan necklace. That's the next one I need to get.

That is so adorable! Your daughter is very lucky to have a mom that loves to make pretty stuff for her.

We were at disney last month and I bought some of the beads to make our own necklaces! I see you do the same thing!

Here we go again. I am going to try and post them a second time.

I am finally getting around to checking out this thread again, and thought I'd comment on my belt. I ended up making one for DD with just the white ribbon and hot pink Minnie's, a black version of this one with red M&M's for me. I found woven cotton belting and made one with Mickeys, his hands and pants with a black plastic buckle for my DS. He really wanted one too, but a ribbon belt for a boy, not so much :lmao: . Anyway they were a huge hit with people in the park. I got lots of compliments on them :thumbsup2 , one CM saw me in the elevator with it and threatened to do bodily harm to get it away from me :rotfl2: .

I also found iron on Disney characters at Joanne's. I got a Mickey and Cinderella and made shirts for my kids. I made a Mickey polo for my FIL as a birthday gift as it was right before our trip. I put his initials on under the patch with rubber stamps and fabric pens. It was so cute I made one for DS too, so they were twins, since he's the only GS he and my FIL are very close. For DD I used the Cinderella patch on a white T and then I found iron on Swarovski crystals to jazz it up. I had already bought her a Cinderella sweatsuit at Costco for the plane ride, and since it came with a jacket instead of a shirt, I needed something to go with it. They turned out cute and took little time and effort. Best of all I spent less then $20. I am not really good with the sewing thing. I have a machine but I'm not able to do much more then run something through it, and haven't a clue how to make clothes. It was a great way for a non-sewer to make Disney custom stuff and not need a machine.

Anyway that's my addition to my origional post. There are some great new things on here. I wish I was a better sewer to make some of these things for my DD.

TheDizMom, I saw your belt while reading through the earlier posts. Did you use 2 ribbons, or did you use a webbing for the back and ribbon for the front. Did you fuse them together? Is it gro-grain ribbon? They are really cute. Look like the type of belts you'd get in a "elite" store. Thanks. They are really great.

I cannot begin to tell you how much I love this. In fact, I have been wanting to try this for a while. I have the pattern cut out and everything. I'm just too imtimidated to try it. Great job.

I used gro-grain ribbon only. I sewed the white ribbon to the red with black thread to match the M&M's. I made it long enough to fold it in half, put the rings at the fold, and then sewed the edges and across, to make a pocket for the rings, in red to make a fairly thick ribbon belt. Don't forget to put the rings in before you start sewing ( I did the first time and though I was still able to get them in it was hard) and also make sure that the 2 halves aren't twisted before you sew. I made this mistake too and had to use a seem ripper and start over. Thank goodness I had made it long because I didn't know how big to make it for my MIL, and figured it would be easier to cut some off if it was too big, and so I knew I had enough ribbon to cut off the damaged part (fortunately I had just started sewing) and still have it long enough. I find the ones with just one layer of ribbon tend to get lose all the time and this way it stayed without slipping. I had both sides stamped so when you brought the end through the rings you would still see the design. I also folded the ribbon in to make a point at the end, because I found that if I tried to just fold it over the edges of the ribbon where it was fraying a bit showed. The point I had to sew by hand because it was too thick to get through the machine without jamming it up. I used the machine to sew it right up to the point, so fold it in and tack it before you sew it together. If you are a better sewer you might know how to get it through the machine. Have fun making one. I did and they aren't very time consuming.
