Probably a stupid question regarding patterns that come in multiple sizes....if I want to make the pattern in 2 different sizes but pieces have to be cut out along a size line (so once i cut it out in the first size that's it) how do I make the same thing in another size?

It's not a stupid question. I have some patterns in multiple sizes. But if the sizes are close together you can cut out 2 of the larger and then measure the difference between the two sizes. It's usually about a 1/4 inch for each size. Then take a fabric pen and measure a 1/4 inch in from the edge all the way around.
Or you can just fold the pattern in on itself, and pin it along the size you need.
When you've been sewing for a while, you can do it by measurements. I know with my skirts and halter tops, I don't need a pattern anymore. It's nice getting a custom outfit for each child, that fits well.
Good luck with your sewing..

thanks  that's what I was thinking of doing but i didn't know if there was a more "exact" way to do it.

Stefplus3, you could also trace the pattern onto tissue paper. This is what I do for my more heirloom patterns. They come on stiff paper, but I also do it for the play clothes. Kind if saves the integrity of the pattern for later use. Esp. if it cost $12 or so.

I just cut out the larger size first then the smaller size. If I want to save the pattern I use tracing paper to draw the lines and then I don't cut the pattern at all.

Happy sewing!

Hancocks has their simplicity patterns for $1.99 right now. (also their butterick patterns are $.99)
I found one that has a hat pattern to go with the little boy jumper.

A question for all of you eBay shoppers?!?!?!?!?!

What do you search for to find your outfits?

I am thinking of starting some Disney themed outfits to list and I have been wondering what I should list them as to get the most traffic. I love to sew, but haven't had my stuff out in a while, so now that I am all motivated I want to get started. I think that there is a huge market in Disney vacation outfits!!!!! I already changed my user name to wear*in*the*world!

I was thinking maybe something like: Boutique Disney trip set for your Snow White fan

Does that get all of the key words in there that people search? Boutique, Disney, character name, am I missing something? I am not claiming that it is Disney or an official character so am I o.k. there?

I'm thinking of doing comfy outfits in each princess theme. So instead of wearing a silky hot sleeping beauty dress, I would make a cotton skirt and tank and add all of the "special" parts of the dress. Like the pointy peplum of her skirt and the off the shoulder part of her top.

I am going to get some pics. on my computer later today and post some. I am better on my sewing machine than my computer!

I know when I have sold it pays to be as specific as possible in the title, so I would probably specify pants, capris, shorts, overalls, dress, skirt, etc. in the title. You could always put "Boutique Disney Snow White shirt/pant set Size xx" as an example title. Save any non-essential stuff like "beautiful, gorgeous, Must see or even "for your trip" for the description itself...I think it is the rare person who will use these words or phrases to find what they are looking for on Ebay. When I am buying I would search using Disney and the article of clothing (if that's what I was looking for). If that turned up too many results, then I would narrow it by entering in a character name also.

Hi, i would also add the word CUSTOM in there somewhere! When I search, I search under custom, or boutique, and then add Disney or Cindrella or Aurora

When I have been searching I always search custom boutique. I either do custom boutique minnie or custom boutique mickey or custom boutique cinderella (or princess or disney).

I think the other responses covered it all...when I search, I use boutique or custom Minnie, Mickey, Disney, Cinderella etc.

I'd love to see some of your outfits! I added you to my eBay seller's list, so I'll keep an eye out! If you get a chance, post them on here, too! :thumbsup2

By the way - great eBay name! Love it!

I always search using the word custom. If I add other things to be specific, I never take custom out.

Thanks everybody. Is this a little better??????

Custom boutique set (maybe specifically capri set, skirt set, dress, etc.) for Disney princess Snow White fan

I added custom and I think I need to add princess whenever it is a princess as well as the specific name.

I could just say:

Disney Princess Snow White custom boutique set

I thought that I was avoiding trouble by saying for a snow white fan though. Am I overthinking this? Do they pull auctions if you use the Disney names as if your item is oficial?

These are the "must have" words I am thinking I need
Princess (if it is a princess)
Disney
boutique
custom
specific character name

Thanks again for everybody's help! I am going to work on a Hannah Montana outfit after my girls go to bed! I am putting "Hannah Montana" (the words not the girl!) on a black tank and making a twirly skirt out of a few different coordinating fabrics that I am using in the applique.

I can't wait to get started!!!!

I think you could use
girls custom boutique princess outfit,

That will cover all of the base needs, not get you in trouble (potentially) by using Disney or Snow White. If you post a pic that always helps too. Then once you are describing the outfit you could have pics of Snow white or others and never have to use those words or Disney. In the description you can state whether the outfit is for dress, or capris etc.

Let us see pictures of your outfits, and we will surely OOOH and AAAH over them!!

OK. Like so many others, you have inspired me. Here are the dresses I made. DD5 won't wear buttons, zippers, or snaps. Don't ask me why. I cut the bottom off her dress and attached a ruffle. I then added a small cap sleeve so there would be princess material at the top and bottom. Only having it on the bottom didn't look right. I added a ribbon around the waist to break up the dress a bit. I also made a headband, but that's not in the pics.

DD3 likes Nemo. I actually bought the jumper for DD5 and cut the bottom off before she informed me she doesn't like buttons, zippers, or snaps. So the dress is big. She also has a fruit punch mustache. And I didn't iron the heart on the top before taking the pic so it's folded over.

I'm making a pillowcase dress. It was originally for DD5, but as you know, she doesn't like..... So it might end up on DD3. My DSis made dresses and overalls for my girls. I'll post those soon. And overalls for DS, too!

We received LOTS of compliments from people when we were at WDW last month. Everyone wanted to know where we bought the dresses.

Here are a few of the outfits that I just finished. I have a few more started but I don't know if I will have time to finish them since we leave on Saturday morning. I had DD try them on so many times while I was making them she didn't feel like modeling for pictures.

I like the safari one. May I borrow the Design for a shirt for me (biiiiiiiigggg kid) for my day at AK. I have a shirt that is ready to bite the dust and needs a revamp. LOL Tho I may have to put Wide Load on the back part instead of Safari. LOL

Briannesmom, those are really cute! I think you and I are using the same patterns! You did a really nice job! I esp. like the peasant top.
