This is an old pic but you can really tell that our hair is nothing like our sons. My DH's hair has darkened up some but it used to be really light blonde when we were growing up.

Parker's hair sometimes has a tad of red highlight in it -- if the light hits it right but here is what her hair looks like on a normal day.

I don't know if anyone has this, but I got one for Mom for Xmas and she LOVES it. It fills the bobbin so much faster then the sewing machine. I got it at Xmas when JoAnnes had the 50% notion sale.

What a great idea! My bobbin winder doesn't work on my sewing machine. This may be just the ticket!

I made the Minnie Clippie and Cinderella...

The Cinderella wasn't too hard. I was afraid at first, but it turned out really cute.
A side note...I don't think I will use the glue gun for them again. :scared1: It was either burning me, or maybe it's cold in my house, because the glue dried too fast.

They look great! A lot of us on the bow board use something called Fabric Tac. It works great for holding the character clips together and a huge bonus is no burnt fingers!! You can find it at walmart or joanns. :)

For those of you that have made the princess clippies (I think they are called french clips?) how well do they stay in you DD's hair? My dd has impossibly straight hair and I have not had any luck in getting clips to stay.

You can completely line your clip with grosgrain ribbon or use shelf liner. It will help alot!

Just for Heather, here's my littlest doing her very best modeling job. I told her to let me take her picture & she started turning & tilting her head & twirling around. Too cute!

Here is my littlest dd. I made her a party hat and a onesie dress. But of course I forgot to take a pic of the dress itself and it's already in the wash. :( The hat says Phoenix's 1st Birthday....in the Disney font of course. :)

Funny story about those bows in her hair. We went to walmart to grocery shop last night and this lady came up to me and wanted to know where I got my bows. I told her that I made them. (kicking myself that I didn't bring my business cards with me) well she said they were EXACTLY what she wanted for her daughter. I jokingly said that I'd sell her those. (the ones my dd was wearing) and she said I'll take them and handed me a shiny $10 bill. :thumbsup2 DD was kinda upset so I bought her some cookie dough and all was right with the world again.

Hmmm, you could get started for your grandkids!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Actually, I have it bookmarked for if & when that time ever comes. I'm hoping that it will be at least 7-8 years though. They both have to finish college, start their careers, meet the right man, get married, etc. (and not necessarily in that order). :lmao:

I love the bows and I love that you just sold them off her head! :lmao: That's something I would do too!

BTW, your birthday hat looks so cute! Good job!

I love that you sold the bows that your DD was wearing. I have to say that I probably would have done the same thing. I like your DD's name that is too cute.

I can't believe some of the comments that I have read about red hair. As you all know, Michael has red hair and it hasn't changed one bit in color since he was born! The only comment that we have ever heard about his hair is that it is beautiful. It is sooo funny b/c he had to start getting a haircut at 8 months old (it was getting bad looking) and everytime he was getting his haircut some lady would always tell their hairdresser that they wanted their hair that exact color.

Another thing that always gets done to him b/c he has red hair is people always have to rub it -- people we know and don't know. They always say that it is good luck to rub a red head's hair. He always grins when they do this.

The one thing we do always get is "where did he get red hair"? I have brown hair and my hubby is a blonde. My granddad had red hair and my DH's grandmother has red hair. As far as my side goes, my son is the first one to have red hair since my granddad -- none of his kids or grandchildren had red hair. With my grandmother-in-law, both of her kids are blondes but one has just a hint of red in what is left of his hair. She has two grandkids that have strawberry blonde hair and one that has a dark auburn colored hair. With her great grandkids, 2 sandy blondes, 1 bright blonde and my little red head.

They say it takes a red head on both sides to have a redheaded child. We looooove red hair around here.

As for red hair, it is a play of the genetics wheel! If there is the gene for red hair on both sides of the family, then there is ~ 1 in 4 chance of getting red hair. Remember your high school genetics? LOL! There are other factors, but if t he gene is in the family, someone will eventually get it. I don't think red hair is a dominant trait, so that is why it doesn't show more in the population. IF it is recessive, it has to come from both sides to show up.

LOL, sorry to get technical on you!!!! But people show their ignorance asking where did the red hair come from? Obviously someone had it, or it wouldn't have shown up on your kids!

I

I'm sorry your Mom did that. Did your Mom actually TELL your DD that it was dorky? I hope not! At least you know your daughter loves them! And, hundred's of your internet friends approve too! :thumbsup2

Yep she did many times :( It was awful I tell you

I too am shocked at what people can say when they see someone that looks a little different. Two of my girls have albinism so they have white hair and very fair skin and I cant tell you how many comments we get. they are always getting called cottontops and people are always touching their heads. It annoys me

You know, I was thinking about the comments that people make about the red hair. I don't have red headed children, but my daughter's hair is VERY blonde. In the summer it is white. I have very dark, almost black, hair. My husband doesn't have any :) but when he did, it was light brown. People ask me all the time where she got her hair color, or they'll ask if I dye mine, or just assume that I'm a babysitter or something. My cousin has blonde hair and when we go places together, people automatically assume my DD belongs to her!

When people ask where she got her hair color, I've just started saying, "From me. Can't you tell?" and they ususally just laugh and shut up!

Once I sold the purse off of my shoulder this way. I was in JoAnn, and a lady asked me where I bought my purse, because it was exactly what she was looking for for a trip. I told her I made it, and I could make her one, and went to give her my card, but she got upset because it was Thursday and she was leaving on that Saturday. Just like you, I jokingly said I could sell her the one I was wearing at a discount, and without missing a beat, she asked me "how much" !!! I ended up dumping my purse into my shopping bag. Heck, it was worth it.

I hope you gave that lady your contact info, even if you didn't have your card, so she can find you for more clips, since I'm sure she'll love the ones you sold her!

Yep she did many times :( It was awful I tell you

That's HORRIBLE! Hugs to you and your DD. I don't know what some people are thinking sometimes. :confused3

Help please someone. I have been trying to find the orginal post with the princess hairbows and I can't. If I remember correctly I think it was HeatherSue that posted it. Thanks.

I have reddish hair. Strawberry blonde, actually. And I’ve always wanted my kids to have red hair, too. Nope. 3 blondes. I jokingly say that some parents have another kid to try for a particular gender. I’ll try for the red hair! Seriously, though, I love the blonde. They are the only grandkids on both sides to have blonde hair.

I love that you sold them right from her head...too funny! I get asked all the time, especially at Disney where we got their outfits, and then offers to buy them. It's like the parents freak out that they didn't think of custom outfits, and just have to have them at the last minute. I feel really bad when my daughters get a lot of attention, and regularly dressed kids are standing by to witness it. But I'm totally hooked. They won't to Disney without a custom again....LOL

SO, maybe we should all start taking a changes of customs for our kiddos into the park so when people ask, we can sell the clothes off their backs and put on the next custom! I wonder how many sets to be sold in a day would be the record!:rotfl: :rotfl:

299848530.jpg

This is the outfit that I'm currently CASEing. It's a shame that it's on Voldemort for $185...it's crazy...I could make about 5 outfits for that much money...Anyway I finished the top, it's a pretty simple style. The only thing I'm not crazy about is the ribbon trim on the pants. Do you think it would look just as good with a red and white dot ruffle on the bottom instead?

That would look fine. A ruffle on the bottom would be cute. I think I am going to make something like this for my dds, but I may make it long enough so they can wear leggings underneath.
