Kids Disney Boutique / Customs Clothes

I was dying for one of those pettiskirts for my DD2 who is almost 4. I looked at Kaiya Eve, which is one of the boutique brands, and then tried to price out fabric for making it myself. I ended up buying the boutique one! Even if I had been able to find the soft chiffon that the skirt is made out of, which I couldn't, it would have required so much of the fabric that I would have been close to spending on fabric, and the worth of my time, what I ended up paying for the skirt. It's incredibly well-made, machine washable and that crazy little skirt has received more compliments than any other of her boutique oufits. She adores it!

We have a Kaiya Eve skirt too. It's adorable! Also, check out Fabbygabby.com. They have great pettiskirts and are a little cheaper than Kaiya Eve.

Where did you get that bluish purple fabric? I am looking for something to make my DD7 for Easter Sunday at Disney and that would be perfect. Love the style of dress too. Did you make that?

Actually, when I was trying to hunt down a pattern, I visited a few sewing forums. Several people posted that they had made one and will never make another one. It was just way too time consuming. The vast majority of posters felt that this was one item that was worth paying for rather than making it. However, that didn't really discourage me. It challenged me more than anything else. Like I said, I just want to make one. I don't necessarily want one for my girls. I hope that makes sense. So, I do understand what you are saying, and KaiyaEve pettiskirts are amazing. Makes me wish I was a kid again. Just beautiful.

We found that fabric at Hancocks Fabric store. Yes, I did make the dresses from a McCalls pattern Easy to stitch M5372. I just sewed the tie so that it would tie in back instead of in front like it showed on the pattern.

I actually have 21 total outfits for all 3 my kdis. we are there 7 days and that is 3 kids so 21 outfits total. I had only 5 outfits made by liltumblebugs. she is listing I think this wekend this set. not sure. Contact her please and let her know taylor*tots*designs referred you and she may make you a deal! She is amazing to work with! She has made some outfits for my kids in the past and when she heard of the # of outfits I was making I sent her the fabric and designed and and she sewed it for me! Just got it last night in the mail!
When I come back I am going to list all 21 outfits pictures in a link for all of you to see. we have been planning since sept of last year and are leaving july 7th! Wheew I am tired thinking about it!

ok, so i went to walmart and just happened to have my camera in my purse ! i just had to show you guys this cool fabric! i think it was like $4.24/yd just wanted to share because so many of you share/inspire me! the mickey i envisoned with blak tulle and maybe some pink/black dot fabric for a funky skirt (ie graciegirls famous halloween outfit) and i know castle creations could totally work some funky magic with it! anyway, have a great weekend. we have family flying in so i might not be able to check for a few days- which means about 10 new pages to read through on mon!

Dopeysgirl, those fabrics from Wal-Mart are great! My store doesn't have any of the three! I agree that the Mickey fabric would be great for a little boy.

MiniGirl, I totally get what you're saying. Sometimes I love a challenge like that. It does make me feel better to know that other sewers felt the same way I did about making the skirt, especially considering what a splurge it was for me to buy it.

Anyhow, I have officially begun my pettiskirt. I decided to do a red and white one. I have to take a break from it, because I'm beginning to see red!! LOL. I should have it finished tonight and will be taking photos tomorrow. Please don't laugh when you see it..

Will your dd wear the pettiskirts alone with just a top or under twirl dresses/skirts? Where did you order yours?

This is my dd in her pettiskirt from FabbyGabby. This picture was taken in December 06...she was just 11 months old. The Kaiya Eve skirt is still a bit too big.
