Steph is one of the fabrics green w/ red polkadots? I found it in Flannel only and if it comes in cotton I want it.

No, I saw that in the flannel and thought it was cute, but couldn't find it in cotton. I have green and red stripe, big snowmen and red with little snowmen. Let me know if you want any.

I think I do need to say something because it is really getting under my skin. What crackys me up is they can never figure out why someone won't do a job more than one year and then wants to give it up! Hello, we are volunteers! Be nice to us!

Okay, so has anyone seen the giant Disney appliques they now have at Joann's? I saw them today for the first time. They are that Fab-liques brand. They usually just have like the big fuzzy ducks and other baby-type appliques. I just scanned in the Cinderella I bought. It took everything I had not to buy Ariel too! This scan will give you an idea of the size (perfect for the leg of a pair of jeans) as you can see my 8 1/2"x11" scanner window cut a little off the right side. She measures about 9" tall and 8" wide. They also had Lightening McQueen, Mater, the police car from Cars :confused3 a cute furry Eeyore, Mickey, Nemo, and Tigger. They would be cute on the back of a jean jacket. I have no idea what I'll do with it. The downside is it cost $7.99 :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

th_scan.jpg

That is cute! I think I would have bought all that they had, so nice job on the restraint. I still need yellow thread, so I guess we'll see today!

Sounds like a wonderful wedding! You look so pretty!

Mini-vent: When we were up in Thanksgiving, my MIL thought it would be a good idea to give me all the Christmas presents to take back down with me. Every day the five year old asks me when can she open up her presents. While I was typing this I got, it's the last day of November right? That means I can open my presents right? It's going to be a long 25 days!

I'm only 27 people,is it normal to be gray already, Well I am even if it's not :confused3 It's gotta be having the kids that has "turned me gray" so young!! :rotfl2: Wait a minute I think my mom said she was in high school when she got gray hair :scared1: maybe it's hereditary?

I think SPONGEMOMMIE's hair looks great, too. :) I'm in the same camp as your mom, DISNEYMOMMIEOF2. I got my first gray hair at 15 -- although the kids seem to speed it along. I've been ignoring it for the last 20 years (I'm 35 now), but I finally got it colored two weeks ago. And... nobody noticed except DH. >:-(

My MIL has been telling me how horrible the gray looks and how I ought to color it for *years* but she didn't notice. When I mentioned it she claimed that she did notice, but that she thought it would be rude to say anything. So...apparently it's rude to mention that someone colored their hair, but not rude to point out that the grey looks terrible. Okkkkkaaaayyy. ;) (I'm thinking she didn't notice and was trying to "cover" herself.)

My parents (who also thought I should have started coloring it sooner) haven't seen it yet. We'll see them tomorrow at Disney World. It will be interesting to see if they notice!

ANd on the name pronunciation thing, my name is Jeanne, pronounced like Genie but no one ever says it right.

We have a Jeanne at work, but I'm almost positive she just goes by Jean. I guess the -ne are superfluous. (?)

Ugh... good luck. I purposefully haven't wrapped anything or put any presents under the tree yet because I know DD will start bugging to open them!

Well-- I took the day off work to finish packing, take the dog to the kennel, etc. since we leave for WDW bright and early tomorrow morning. So far I've got the kids (only) packed, but that's it. So I'd better get a move on.

Do your little girls like wearing customs? Last night I told my niece that I bought a sewing machine to make her some cute Disney clothes. I told her I was going to make a Christmas shirt similar to her Halloween shirt to practice. Her response? BLECH :crazy2:, everyone at school made fun of me that day. I don't want anymore outfits. Then I tried to show her some of the outfits on photobucket you all have made, I got a :crazy2:, :crazy2:, :crazy2:, for most of them.

She's 7. Is she too old? I told her that your little girls love their outfits. I was really upset last night. If she doesn't lose the attitude she won't be going on a trip to WDW with my husband and I.

My mother did the same thing. :headache: I don't think kids this young are very good at waiting. My DD and DS ask EVERY MORNING before school if they can open JUST ONE. They'll wait on the rest. (RIIIIGHT).

I'm sorry she said that.

My kids are 5 and 4, and if it were up to them they would ONLY wear customs. I even had to make DD her uniform dresses. 7 Might be a little old. I don't know what age they start over-worrying about what the other kids think. :confused3

Yeah, one TODAY! All bets are off for tomorrow. Smart kids! :rotfl2:

I'm so sorry! I have one who is eight and a boy so I can understand. Fortunately, he is very sensitive and can understand the work that goes into it and how much I enjoy making things for them so he will ask for a few customs for DW and pjs. Maybe your neice is around older girls who think this sort of stuff is lame?

My suggestion is to take her to the fabric shop and see if there is fabric she falls in love with. Maybe start with a bag, there are lots of cute and easy patterns. The more involved my kids are with picking the pattern and fabric, the more they are excited about the outcome. Good luck!

I have an 8 year old and she started the "too cool" attitude last year. It was a battle trying to get her to wear anything. Suddenly the clothes she used to love were dorky and she wouldn't wear her clogs (my personal favorite shoe). I was so upset. She did let me put customs on her in September but this December she isn't getting any customs when we go. I told her that I was just going to make and buy cute clothes for her baby sister and she said that was okay. She doesn't want to wear anything that makes her stand out from the other children and I think it is pretty common with girls that age. I know how you must be feeling but I promise it has more to do with peer pressure from other girls her age than it has to do with her not liking or caring about you. It's a good thing that she is expressing her opinion with you. Wouldn't you feel terrible if years later she told you she was mortified the time you took her to Disney because you made her wear clothing that made her uncomfortable? Hang in there. I know how hard girls that age are.

Hi All,

Sorry I haven't been around much recently. I've been trying to get everything ready for the surgery, which will be on Wednesday.

My mother decided I don't need her help, so she's not coming to give me a hand, even though she lives only about 90 minutes away and has nothing better to do (I asked). I was really hurt, so I decided to give myself a few hours of "therapy" AKA sewing. This is what I ended up with.

This is a detail of the front. It's highlighted with metallic thread which is not translating in the picture.

It it MUCH prettier in real life, and not uneven, that's just the layout on the floor. It also needs a final ironing. I'll try to post pics tomorrow of DD wearing it, she's asleep now.

I also have an Ariel pink dress and a navy blue school dress in the works. I just wanted to get ontot he DIS, and showing this dress off is my excuse.

Thanks for being here.

Sorry about your mom but this dress is amazing! Nice appliqué work. Good luck with the surgery.

Beautiful- What a magical time it must have been to get married at Disney!! I have seen that Disney wedding special on like travel channel and WOW!!! It really makes you want to get married there. Or at least attend a Disney Wedding:lmao: We definitely want to see the whole party picture!!

I bet if I would have started earlier with her, I could have had some fun years before she got too embarrassed. I didn't find you all soon enough!

I think that's a really good idea! I think I will take her to the store this weekend and see if she can find something.

You make some really good points. I don't want her to feel uncomfortable. I need to just sit her down and have a talk with her about why she is uncomfortable. If I can get her to understand first that she can't be rude when we are talking, then we can talk this out. I don't mind if she doesn't like the outfits, but she can't say they make her puke. That is just rude. :)

All the cuffs I have are the crocheted fun fur ones. The pattern is free in Teresa's links. I bought the pattern from YCMT. I don't know if they are exactly the same or not, but the cuffs look the same. I don't want to know because I hate the idea of paying good money for a free pattern! Here is a picture of my cuffs:
th_DSCN2948.jpg

What an ADORABLE outfit! Your daughter is such a cutie too!

So here is what I was working on last night when the "late night club" was in session-

47b7cf08b3127cceb0bcc09a3b8e00000020101AZsXLhszbMY

I got one pair completely finished and the other 2 just need the top and bottom hems and elastic- They are for christmas morning- I am going to Iron-on some of those awesome DISigns with the star wars characters.

How FUN! DS would love those. I may need to pick up some of that fabric. I was able to scrounge (sp?) a few yards of flannel on the day after Thanksgiving for the boys (DH and DS) but couldn't be to picky. I scored some Hannah Montana for DD though.

Here's what I should have been working on last night when I was on here chit-chatting. I finished them this morning while Tessa and Sawyer played with Little People (thank you Fisher Price). I don't know what possessed me to make 4 of these things. They didn't turn out as I had hoped. I wanted the pettisirt part to show more. But, as with most YCMT patterns, there was math involved... I did make up the dimensions for the little skirts (for Build-A-Bears) all on my own. Tessa insisted that she wanted yellow bias tape on her skirt, but I really wish she would have wanted red. The red looks prettier!

th_11-29-074skirts.jpg

Here's a close-up so you can see they're not American flag skirts. :rotfl:
th_11-29-07skirtclose.jpg

Now, I have 2 long-sleeved white t-shirts that I want to applique something on to match these. Does anyone have any ideas? I want to use one (or both) of the fabrics from the skirt.

Very CUTE! I love the sparkle in the fabric. I would do gingerbread men on the shirts and maybe some red bling around the neck!

Here is the fabric I picked. I don't like it as well as the designer stuff I found online, but I'll get over it. I suppose I can't always get my way.

I love this dress! The blue fabric is really pretty. I love those slippers on front!
I hope your surgery goes well and you have a quick recovery. Sorry to hear about your mom not wanting to come help.
okay here is the picture with my new color and cut wendy lou (utahmama did ) my dd was taking the picture and in walked DH that is why i am looking a different way but it shows my hair and that is what you guys wanted to see..:goodvibes

Very nice haircut and color! Can I come to Utah on the private jet too? Just make a detour to Atlanta!

THese are pretty. I am thinking, hmm I need Mater and a couple of the Mickey, maybe a Tigger or an Ariel for DD.

My Daughter is turning 7 in Jan. It does help to let her pick things out and I try to let her have some input. For Example, I don't make her wear twirl skirts she doesn't like them. She likes appliqued jeans and overalls. Or shorts. I am going to make her wear a dress for Christmas though. I am also teaching her to be respectful of people's feelings and have told her that there is a lot of love in the things I make her. She wouldn't wear anything to school when she went to the public school but it would have gotten ruined anyways. She loved wearing things to Disney World though. Sorry your DN was mean about it.

Good Morning All! (It is still morning here on the West Coast! ;) )

I should be out Christmas shopping, making the kids candy advents, doing Christmas cards, cleaning house, getting on the treadmill, wrapping presents, getting the Christmas decorations down from the attic, etc, etc. But all I want to do it SEW! I know you all understand! I whipped up (really - this one was fast!) this dress the other day for DD. She picked out the fabric herself and really loves it.

Today was pajama day at school - I forgot to snap a pic of my kiddos this AM - but will get one when they come home! They are wearing their matching Disney Store Christmas jammies! I wanted to get DD's HM gown done yesterday - but just couldn't! I had a crown prep done in the morning and wasn't feeling up to par. I was upset that my previous crown (11 years ago) broke - I just hate spending money on it - and was putting it off. The quick repair the dentist did so I could go to Disney World broke about a week ago and I was super bummed - so God decided to teach me a lesson in "it could always be worse" and two days after my crown repair broke a 1/4 of my tooth on the other side of my mouth broke off!!! So in the next 4 weeks I will have 2 crown preps and 2 seats!!! Eeek - sorry for the ramble!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the silver glass slippers!! Very cute! I think I missed the surgery info - who is having what surgery? Sorry your mom isn't coming to help  .

Here is my vent: I am the secretary of our school's PTA and I do the newsletter. The president is always going behind me and redoing it after I send it the school for submission. I am getting fed up with it. I can't complain to my husband because he would ask, how much are they paying you again? He's so smart. :rolleyes1

UGH - I hate when someone gives you a job to do - then corrects everything! You really should say "Looks like you have a better idea of what should be in the newsletter than I, maybe you should do it?" LOL on DH's comment - I get the same stuff from mine - my DH calls me a "professional volunteer".
