th_PICT1718crop.jpg

That looks great!! I am going to start searching for patterns for a dress and use the minnie dot fabric..I found a simplicity minnie mouse pattern on eBay, but $37.95 for it???? Yikes!

thank you for all the hugs and prayers for my hip:goodvibes it is alot better now (mainly because i had the pain pills handy and lots of your prayers:hug: ) winter is always very hard for me with my osteoarthritis i tend to hurt myself alot more not on purpose but things just happen . so don't be suprised if i post on here alot about something i hurt ..... i am just accident prone when it gets cold :confused3
gonna go finish some sewing and then proof read my trip report to post today :scared1:

WOW - that petti is so gorgeous! Where did you get it? You know - I have only made a handful of things for Noah - a fleece vest, some pj's, etc - but I made him a pirate mickey T - that boy was so proud, and told everyone his mommy made it! Melt my heart! I need to think of more things I can make for my almost 8 year old boy!

I bought it from someone that was doing a co-op on another board I'm on. She has a site www.preciouspettis.com HOWEVER, realize that the manufacturing time on these are VERY LONG! Like MONTHS! I've seen many on :wizard: and know that many boutiques carry them as well.

IMG_0033.jpg

This I made today, it's totally cased from these boards. Others have been done much better, but for being my fourth skirt ever, I'm happy with it...I thought this would be good for our Animal Kingdom day. For the love of Pete, I just noticed all the threads hanging off of it. Sheesh.
Maggi

love the skirts and the colors!

QUOTE=teresajoy;21841628]Can I just say that I am really excited that everyone is so excited about the Eye spy bags? I love it when I can post something that is such a hit! (not that I've actually posted a picture of the ones I've made!) Thanks to everyone for posting your pictures and tips!
There are just so many funny things in your post! Let's just say, I was crackying up reading this!

Are your directions much different from the ones I posted?

They are a bit different. The bag was round and the back side was two regular cotton prints, sewn back to back, then the entire front/top of the bag was the clear vinyl, then it was zig-zagged or serged around the entire outside of the circle. You could see the print of the fabric showing through the window when you slid stuff around in there. It was cute, but of course now I can't find the pattern :scared1: But I think I like the one in the photo on your links, mainly because it has a handle. That would come in handy. I'm now officially collecting spyable items.

Hi all, been lurking on the boards this past week, I kept thinking I'd get on and say hi to ya'll, but never seemed to put aside the time to do it....I have been working like a fiend to make some things, so here goes...

th_IMG_0031.jpg
th_IMG_0033.jpg
th_IMG_0035.jpg

And after all that, these children of mine have informed me that they don't really like the twirl skirts. They tried to be nice about it, but I'm so sad. Dh says they're just too old for that sort of thing. I'm not mad at them, but I'm so totally bummed, it seems like I've wasted an entire week of sewing and who KNOWS how much planning, for nothing. They both said they'd probably like some deco jeans or capris. Sigh. I just don't think they'll want to wear them every day at Disney and how do I decide what to make...jeans or capris? I can look at the weather a few days before we leave to decide what to pack, but I can't wait that long to decide what to MAKE.

Maggi

I love what you've made so far! And I am now feeling very lucky, because my DD10 still likes the skirts I make her! I do make them less full than her 2-year-old sister's though.

Thanks for the kind words, I'm sure it'll all work out fine, I'm just bummin. I'm not sure if they'd wear peasant tops. It briefly crossed my mind when everyone here seemed to be making them....and cursing the pattern! :lmao: After that I figured it was out of my league to try it! It's definitely something I'd be up for, I'll have to ask them.
Maggi

I made DD10 a peasant top out of scrap fabric because I was trying to make sure it fit right. She wore it to school the next day (plain pink sleeves, plain ivory bodice) and said she has never received so many compliments in her life from all the other little 10 year old girls. I made long sleeves and shirred near the top and hemmed the cuff. It was so easy.

Jeremy called me at 7:30 to tell me they were on their way!!! :yay: :yay: :yay: Then Rylee got on the phone to tell me she was going to Tennessee to see Nana! I love talking to her on the cell phone because this is how every conversation ends:

Rylee: I love you, Nana
Me: I love you, Rylee
Rylee: Bye Nana
Me: Bye Rylee
Jeremy (in the background): Don't hang up, don't hang up!!!!!!!!! Rylee give me the phone...
click

Then Jeremy calls me back so we can finish our conversation. It's great! She's a very active and intelligent 2yo, she's like the total opposite of Emma. Not that Emma isn't intelligent, but Rylee was asking "why" about everything before her 2nd bday and she can have a full-on conversation about anything. Emma just goes with the flow. This will be so much fun!! I wish they could stay longer than 3 days, but I'll take that over nothing.

And just to keep this on-topic: I finished her Tgiving dress last night and a princess outfit that I'm gonna save for Christmas... maybe. She always struts into my sewing room and says "Nana, will you make me a dress!" She knows I will!

Isn't she a doll!?!
th_ryleejo2.jpg

 I can't wait!! Just about 9 more hours!!! Now I have to go clean my house and let Emma watch Frosty since she's been asking since she woke up!!!

She really is a doll! What a fun Thanksgiving you'll have!

Thought I would share my latest creation! I wanted something that was a winter theme - but not Christmas so she could wear this one longer. This pattern doesn't come in her size so I had to make some adjustments - but it turned out pretty cute. Thanks for looking! :)

Love this. I have that pattern and it was the first thing I made DD a couple of months ago when I started sewing again after many many years. Now I want that fabric too!

QUOTE=Cindy B Good;21846622]Ok, my 2nd jambo cup of java has me ready to comment on my weekend lurking!

tnmom25- My heart swelled at how much you clearly love your kids & yes Riley is a doll!! All this talk lately has me missing my parents also! (Mom went home to heaven in 2004 & Dad remarried/abandoned his family, he died when she got sick in alot of ways) I sometimes get sad that my boy's only living grandparents (DH's folks) live clear in PA & don't have much to do with them at all. Can I adopt you & Nana (the other disboutiquer) as my kid's grandma's?!:goodvibes

Me too, can I adopt Nana and Susan?

About 2 hours til Rylee gets here, so this is just a shameless post to keep up my count :rolleyes1 I won't be on here much except at night when they all go to sleep!!!

I always love looking at this thread! I need to get sewing again. We're still moving in so it's hard to take the time to sew (I have no real space to do it). Here's the dress I made for Ilana's first birthday thanks to the inspiration and idea from one of the mom's here. I think I did a pretty good job if I can say so myself. :lmao:

This turned out so cute!

OY, What have I done?
We went to the mall this morning to see Santa. We wandered into the Hallmark store-it SEEMED harmless enough :lmao: Next thing I know my DD has a Webkinz. Someone one PLEASE tell me this is not going to be that bad. (I still have Beanie Baby nightmares)
Cindee

They're kind of fun. I want one just so I can design and decorate it's room.

This is super cute!!! Where did you find the fabric and what pattern did you use. I might want to CASE it!

Jham!!!!! Me and Spongie can't wait to meet you! :yay: :yay: :yay:

I don't get out much so this will be a treat without my kids ;)

I promise we're not psycho's (hardly at all)! :rolleyes1 Heh!

We got home Saturday night after our week at WDW. I can't believe that it's finally over after all that work! I went through my pics to find ones where you can see DD's outfits.
IMG_7711.jpg

You can't see this one too well but it's a tshirt dress with a Pooh fabric skirt. I cut out a Pooh from the fabric and ironed it on w/Wonder Under Ultra onto the top.

IMG_7866.jpg

This one I actually made Saturday morning before we left! It's just a simple elastic waist skirt and the tshirt had iron-ons from the Disney store. All the princesses commented on it. After lunch DD ate an ice cream bar and ruined the shirt but those iron-ons don't hold up in the wash well, anyway.

IMG_7973.jpg

This one was after I had had enough of doing ruffles! I used bias tape to trim the pants and top. The top is just a pillowcase dress made as a top. The kids loved the Play n Dine character meal, even though they have never seen Little Einsteins or Jojo's Circus (we don't have cable)!

IMG_8017.jpg

It was COLD on Friday at AK! The kids had their jackets on until right before we left so I could take a picture! I had made DD matching capris which she couldn't wear because it was too cold.

ChefMickeys.jpg

I posted a pic of this before we left. I never got around to putting a bow on it. There were two other girls with tshirt dresses like DD's at Chef Mickey's. DD would not cooperate for her pic with Minnie.

Before our trip, I was working feverishly to finish her Epcot dress with the Friends around the World fabric Nana was so kind to send to me. She tried it on and liked it before we left but when we were there she refused to wear it!!! I tried on another day and she wouldn't wear it then, either. I was so disappointed. We barely made it into the World Showcase anyway and it was after dark so I suppose it wouldn't have been noticed.

That BBB must be raking in the $$. I couldn't believe how many girls I saw with their hairdos and almost all in princess dresses.

Attention Applique-phobes...aka: those like me who are afraid to applique. :goodvibes

I found the best source for CHEAP appliques today! I noticed these lovely placemats my mom had that were covered with amazing appliqued pumpkins and other such fall stuff. She mentioned she got them at Kohl's super cheap. So stopped by today and sure enough I got a place mat covered in appliques for 1.99- I used the fall one today to accent a three piece outfit and I picked up a snowman one for the Christmas outfits I am planning!. I just cut out the shape I wanted- Heat n Bonded it down and stitched around it- very easy and pretty cute I will say! I will try to get soem pics uploaded- but just wanted to share my find!!

I love the petticoats and you couldnt pay me a million bucks to make one....:rolleyes1 well, ok, maybe a million....they look like a big pain in the neck to make all of those layers and ruffles....oiyva:rolleyes:

We ALL absolutely love this outfit here at my house.........:flower3: bravo!!!!!

I finally finished the jeans to go with my Fall Peasant top. What a job. The jeans took forever and broke one of the needles on my sewing maching..GRRR...They also have tons of hand stitching that took, almost forever. Sorry for the poor pictures. My camera is in a bad mood...and it keeps shutting off...

Hi Everyone,

Does anyone know where to get the EPCOT fabric? Im not sure what it is called or anything, but its colorful and has kids faces on it.

Also, do you have a recommendation for glue for gluing gems or fabric pieces onto denim when you dont want to sew it? do the edges of the fabric fray then?

THanks so much!! Wendy
PS _did I see that there is more than 1 wendy on here?:hippie:

Ok, my 2nd jambo cup of java has me ready to comment on my weekend lurking!

RevRob- dd, "abby" is beautiful!! I looove her Pirate petti!!

SweetnSassy- your polymer clay creations amaze me!.

sahm000-I am also in the later potty training category. My ds (3) will act totally trained at preschool, going in the potty & staying dry. When he's at home he also "is to distracted by playing to go". I keep asking him if it's our potty here or what? His teachers say it's probably peer pressure at school that enables him to go!:confused3

camelotcats-I'm praying for your MIL's upcoming visit & the trials endured.

spongemommie- I've been thinking & praying for you & the hip! This time last year I broke a toe falling over ds's trucks!!

Weloveprincesses- I'm sorry that your dd's don't like your fabulous creations. After making the KaChow! shirts for my ds's this weekend my oldest (autism) doesn't want to where it because "it's too scratchy" (he has sensory issues). That made me want to cry! Partly because I didn't think of that & partly because of the work it took to make it. Oh, I'm also askeered of the peasant tops & desperately want to make my niece one!!

disneymomej & Utah Mama- you both gave me lots of ideas for Eye Spy bags! But I'm still searching & thinking what to use for a boy's Eye Spy? We have a million matchbox cars, but that wouldn't be much of a challenge?

My boys have ripped open "hidden zippers" on more than one bean bag & couch cushions, looking to create "snow" here in TX!!!! :scared1: This is what askeers me about the Eye Spy bags in a way!

AND....these are my favorite one liner's that made me chuckle deep down!!!

:rotfl: :rotfl:

:rotfl: :rotfl:

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: I thought this also when looking at them at Hancocks!!!

Hey, Cindy!!! I little kid HAS to have Multiple Grandmas and They HAVE to have different names so they can tell them apart. YES, I am adoptable...I am very adapt at playing the long distance grandma but remember...I am THE NANA. Let see.references: Kailey age 7 almost 8, Danielle 6, Emily 6, Riley (Girl) 4.Madison 3, and Caleb 2. I have my own stash of PLAYDOH and like to make silly things, I rock and sing a particular lullaby "Baby's Boats a silver moon ( The only one I know..:lmao: :lmao: ) I use my embroidery machine to make silly appliqued tee/turtleneck shirts...really cute but I make my "kids" provide the shirts.:lmao: The USPS is making quite a bit off this family! Nana

Wendy,
PM me to let me know how much of the "EPCOT" fabric you are looking for. I might be able to help you out. It was only available at Hancock Fabrics but I think most ran out months ago. Nana

Thankfully, my daughters are too young for them but I hear that they are very addicting. Good luck!

And yes, Bob loves wearing his little bandana, but then again, he's easy to please. A sneaky game of "search the trash" and a quick poop on the floor and he's in heaven.:rotfl2: He's just lucky he's in a good mood all the time and the girls love him.

Maggi

Okay so I'm new here and all, so all I kept thinking to myself when I read this was, man I really hope Bob's a dog :rotfl2:
