It really does look great! You are your own worst critic!

About rolling the coins- I was going to say my bank counts your change for free-With the machine of course (Just thought I should clarify as I had a vision of some slacky trainee person counting pennies in the back, or punishment for giving to good of customer service or something):rotfl2: :lmao:
Coin star I think is about 9 cents for every dollar!! But maybe worth it if that was the only other option when you have to roll alot of coins!!!

Sorry if anyone is down today- Hope that got at least a smile :)

The nemo applique is cute, I'll have to remember about using the same color thread tip when I take the plunge and attempt to applique.
I need that LE too- gotta find Hancocks. I think we have one??

And teresa going waaay back to your ?? dd dress was the tink that grandma sewed for her :goodvibes Grandmas are a great thing!!

dd is doing better, but she also getting all of her molars so we were up in the middle of the night having freezies- the only thing that makes her happy when her mouth hurts!! She goes to the fridge and points up and has a fit til you open it and get one. She knows what she wants and she knows what she doesn't want so give her what she wants!!! Does anyone watch the backyardigans-volcano sisters- that is dd!!!

If he thinks that is something, Heather should pan to the right sometime and he could see THE GARAGE! The kids and I are pretty sure that you could put the space shuttle in there with pleanty of room to spare! I think they ordered the doors from NASA! It's HUGE! HUGE I say! AND it matches the house!

Oh my poor little Tessie! Give her a big ole hug from Aunt Teresa! I was going to go to Weight Watchers this morning, but Lydia was up and down last night until about 2AM, and I don't think I want to wake her up yet!

:lmao: About the garage! That thing IS huge!! I never thought about the whole space shuttle aspect. Hey, maybe he's planning on painting space shuttles, you ever thought of that? Huh?

Well, Tessa didn't get any fillings. They just did x-rays (were perplexed that the original dentist didn't do that) and looked at her teeth. She has more cavities than we thought. I'm embarassed to say how many... She goes back in on the 27th to fill some of them and than again in January to do the rest. :sad2:

:lmao: Ok Heather and Teresa

Today is the day I have done everything else It's time to cut into the Minnie dot fabric. If I don't return it's because

1. Cutting went well and I am having a great time sewing.:thumbsup2
2. Cutting went bad and I am so mad i have locked myself in the room with a tub of chunky Monkey Icecream and I am not comming out till the pieces glued themselves back together.popcorn::
3. Or cutting went great but sewing maching attacked the fabric and I am picking up machine pieces down stairs:rolleyes1 ( because I opened the door and chuched it down the stairs) and I will be online soon to tell you all about it.

I am really hoping it's #1 ok Have a great day fellow Disers I am off to cut.
:cheer2: :cheer2: You can do it!!! Can't wait to hear how it went!

In case anyone is looking for me I am running away. I am mad, sad, unhappy etc. (And I am not usually like this).

I got a call the other day that my best friend for years had had a heart attack. A few minutes later my Mother called me to tell me her husband had been rushed to the hospital in Michigan. Then I started having health issues. Which I have successfully dealt with for years and now BAM! I was so dizzy yesterday I thought I would fall down. And I am dealing with grumpy people who don't pay attention.

So I am feeling sorry for myself which I NEVER do which is why I am mad!

Taking a deep breath!

aaahhhh!

"It WILL get better", It is NOT as bad as all that! Whine over!

I am still running away:moped:

(Too ashamed to sign my name)
 I really feel for you. That's a lot to be going through all at once.

Dear Ashamed,
I'm dreadfully sorry to hear of all of your pleasant ongoings. I have heard that there is a Magical Place just West of you that cures all. In case this information give to me, was false. Just drive to your East and come and hang out at my house. You can ride on my Nemo float in the pool. ;)
With Sincere Regards,
Your Friend,
Trying to Be Funny..
PS-- Don't run away on a moped, you will get mowed down on I-4 by a Semi, take the car, it's much faster. And please don't do anything drastic like letting your husband convince you, that yes you can indeed balance yourself on Shamu's teeth.
:rotfl: That is too funny!!! I especially like the part about the moped.:lmao:

ETA: Oops!! I accidentally double-posted! So, here's a shameless picture to fill the void. This is my whole family when we went to the world in 2004 and Tessa welcoming you to Walt Disney World, and Tessa waiting for a tram, all in 2004:

For anyone who is interested, and even for those that couldn't care less, here is a pattern for the turkey. I used button eyes and didn't do the "hair":

It looks great, but I'm hoping it's ok for me to make a suggestion. If I were you, I would make a line down the right side of his face so that it separates it from his fin. Does that make sense? It looks great, but I think if you separated those two, you would like it better.

Ok too funny I had to share- The episode of the backyardigans the totally fits my dd right now is on right now. Oh the irony.... :happytv:

I think this looks great!

Hey everyone - I'm on a quick break at home for lunch. Since a few people posted and sent me PMs, I'm going to head over to Tampa tonight after church and pick up some more Little Einstein fabric. I might just buy the rest of both bolts, because there is not "that" much left.

So far - here's who I have:

bsusanmb - 1.5 yds of each
spongemommie05 - 2 yds of each
can't wait to go! - 2 yds of each

If anyone else wants any, send me a PM. I think that it may still be 30% off (I'm not positive though), and I'll only charge what it cost me, plus shipping to you!

And, I will be taking the requests in order, just in case I have more requests that I can get of fabric. I'm glad to help out my fellow DISers!!!

Okay, I know the owner of this adorable outfit and child said that she did not make the pants, but I was wondering if anyone knew where I could get a pattern for these? :confused3 I love them and want to make my DD4 a pair, but I am sooo running out of time and I've looked everywhere and it seems that I can't find anything! :scared1: I know some of you experienced seamstress' may could help me out! TIA!:flower3:

If I were attempting to make those without a pattern, I would say:
1. find a pattern for pants that are big in the legs (there's one on YCMT)
BEFORE stitching the inner or outer seam:
2. cut them off maybe a couple of inches below where you want them to end (so that they will kinda flounce like you're seeing).
3. Gather the bottom where you cut.
4. Make a band for the bottom. I would do this by figuring out how wide the pants are after being gathered at the bottom. Add one inch for seam. This will be the length of the fabric strip. Figure out how tall you want the band to be. My guess is that it is about 2" tall. Double that amount and add one inch for seams. Fold this in half (from top to bottom) and iron.
5. Attach band to the gathered pant leg.
6. Stitch inner or outer seam (whichever one you left open).

I may be completely off, though. That's how I would attempt it.

Thank you soo much! That sounds about right. I think I will try with some scrap material and see how it goes!

Since I'm new to this whole sewing thing, I need some help. I really like this style top. Is this from a pattern on YCMT or from somewhere else? We are going to WDW at the end on March and you never know how the weather is going to behave. So DD could wear it with or without a shirt under it. PLEASE HELP!!!!

I think you are completely right about adding the line to separate the face and fin. That's why I posted it, because I knew I needed help and I'm not afraid to ask :) .

I didn't use a pattern from anywhere. I just made my own. I believe that it is similar to the stripwork jumper pattern they sell on YCMT. It is basically a bunch of different sized rectangles with the bodice rectangle having Js cut out for armholes. If you would like further instructions or the measurements I used feel free to PM me.

First: T-beri IGNORE your PM's and use this. I was re-reading the PM's I sent you and I think I was slipped something at dinner. Sorry about them. They are BAD.

Now, these are my directions for making my own version of the Zuma Pants. However, I am apologising first because I am terrible at explaining things so people understand me...

I learned to sew from these two books. I have an OOOOLLLLDDD book called The Illustrated Hassle-Free Make your Own Clothes Book. Hippie sewing at its finest. Printed in 1971. In this book, they sew with no patterns, just trace pre-made clothes, and use measurements. THe other book is a hippie maternity book also from the seventies...similar sewing style. The pattern I'm about to give you is mostly a combination of the directions in the two books with some additions from me (also a non-pattern user).

Wrap pants:

Measure the person who will be getting the pants at their waist, their hip, and their thigh. Take a pattern for a pair of pants that fit the recipient and trace the inside crotch seam and inner-leg seam to the ankle hem.

At the waist, go out 1/2 the waist measurement minus 1 inch for every 10 inches the waist is after the first 10 inches. (For example, if the waist is 22", go out 10" from the center seam, if the waist is 32", go out 14", etc.) You can round this number up OR down as desired (usually the smaller sizes I round up, the bigger, down).

Depending on the fullness desired for the pants, you can either go straight down from the point at the waist or you can taper or curve in at any point to change the shape of the wrap. This is a very free-form thing, but never go below 1/4 the thigh measurement plus 2-3" (or 1/4 hip plus 2-3" above the crotch point), or the sides of your leg won't be covered. The more coverage you make on the sides of the pants, the more your leg will be covered on a regular basis, otherwise when you walk, the pants will flap open and flash your leg. I tend to make less coverage adn let my legs come out, but then again, I only have one pair of these that I made as a swimsuit cover-up.

If you want the little wrap in the front like the zuma pants have, make the back pant pieces 1/2 the waist plus about 4 or 5 inches. At the hip, severely curve inwards (Towards the inner leg seam) to about 1/4 the hips plus 3 or 4 inches for overlap, then curve back out at the lower thighs/knees like the pants pattern does for the bell on the bottom. The front pieces (which wrap
underneath) don't need to be fancy.

Also, if there is too much fabric at the tushie (since the fabric will nearly all the way back to the center in the back), you can make the front pieces 1/2 waist minus 2 or 3 inches so the fabric ends at the side of the tush instead of going all the way into the middle underneath. If you want to wrap either way, though, make the front pieces like the back but without the overlap.

The actualy pattern of the Zuma pants looks like they use the severe swoop from the waist to the hips to avoid bulk at the tushie. I had never seen this before until I looked at the pattern, but it is a very neat idea. I think it could be imitated with a little trial and error without needing a whole different pattern.

At the bottom hem, round off from the outseam to the hemline so there's not a sharp corner.

Cut out 2 fronts and 2 backs, remembering that the front will wrap around and tie in the back and the back will wrap around and tie in the front...

Sew the pants together at the crotch and inseams just like you would for a regular pair of pants.

Using double fold bias, bind the outseam down over the hem and up the other outseam (Does this make sense?). This will finish your raw edges. If you want to, you could also turn under all of these raw edges. OR you could make them reversible and cut 4 fronts and 4 backs and sew them together with right sides and trun inside out before attaching the waist.

Now, for your waist, you can do one of three things (Actually you can do more, but these are the basics):

1. Bind the tops with the bias leaving long tails on either side of the pants to tie around the waist.

2. using matching or contrasting fabric, make two long strips. attach the strips to the waist leaving long tails on either side. (there are many ways to do this, I'm sure your way is better than mine as mine involves a lot of hand top-stitching).

An option with each of the above methods for a cleaner back:

On the front part of the wrap pants, measure the ties that will go around to the back. make the entire waistband with the extra tails the waist measurement plus 4-6 inches (for larger waists, you may want to make it +8"). clean finish the ends of the tails and attach either buttons, snaps, or velcro to go under the back of the pants, instead of another tie.

3. You can make the tops of the pants a little longer and thinner with the top being closer to the waist plus a few inches, similar to the Zuma pants, then either bind the top or put on a waist band, leaving no extra for tails. Then attach buttons, snaps, or velcro to the ends, so when you overlap the extra length you can attach them together. (this method does involve some sort of curving out below the waist and above the crotch to avoid bunching up at the center)

I hope this helps and isn't too confusing. it's VERY simple to do, just kind of complicated to explain.

So far I have cut the fabric out for all three overalls and I believe I am going to have enough. Unless something goes horribly wrong.:scared: . I know I have a month left to get this done but I promised my self I was not going to be up late Christmas eve finishing them. Thanks for the support. :grouphug: I am headed off to sew wish me luck. If I would have known my sewing machine was going to be my greatest enemy. I would have asked for a glue gun. :rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao:

Well, Tessa didn't get any fillings. They just did x-rays (were perplexed that the original dentist didn't do that) and looked at her teeth. She has more cavities than we thought. I'm embarassed to say how many... She goes back in on the 27th to fill some of them and than again in January to do the rest. :sad2:

My son went to the dentist for the first time in April (he was 5) and he had 8 cavities. He had to get 4 silver caps and have 4 baby root canals. I felt like the worst mom in the world. Don't feel bad!!! I learned that day that having bad teeth can be heriditary. I also learned that day that my MIL went to the dentist once and had 40 cavities. Yes, I said 40! 20 on one side and 20 on the other. My husband's grandmother had all her teeth pulled for false teeth at 35 years old b/c hers were bad as well!
