Great work to all the lurkers that have posted their pictures. They all are adorable.

Ok- my mom bought this wonderful pirate fabric from a quilt shop somewhere. I would like to do something with it for my DS3 but can't think of something great. It is great quality fabric so I hate to waste it on pjs. Anyone have any ideas for this? I have a yard of it. Thanks for any inspiration.

Okay, we are going on our WDW trip Dec. 9 - 15. Anyone going to be there when we are?

If you are what, will ya'll be making for customs?

We're going to be there almost the same dates, Dec 9-17. We went that time frame 2 years ago and it was cold! 40's-60's, at least we had the pool to ourselves! Last year my sil and bil went during that time it was 70's and 80's, so you never know! We plan on taking a lot of layers. I'm trying to make sure I can put a T and leggings under everything.

We are going to two MVMCP's so I was thinking two christmas twirl skirts with t-shirts with a Mickey head on one with a santa hat, and the other a Minnie head with a bow and holly in the bow. I figured I could put a long sleeved t-shirt under it with leggings under the skirt if it was cold.

Then I'd thought about making decoupage blue jeans with matching Mickey head t-shirts for a couple of the other days...but I don't know about the weather. We normally go right after Thanksgiving, and it's a crap shoot then...last year it was so hot I was cutting off the girls pants to make capris!

I'd love to make some dress of some sort, but I'm not sure if it'll be warm enough!

Hey there! We'll be there the 8-17. The kids will be wearing mostly customs if I can get them all finished!

So far Ella has a pirate outfit, 2 minnie outfits, a princess toile outfit, an AK outfit and a Monsters Inc outfit. Oh, and a Christmas outfit. Working on a Chip and Dale outfit and need to think of a couple more.

Caleb will mostly be in button front camp shirts. Not too much to do for boys. He has a pirate outfit, a Cars shirt, a Mickey racecar shirt, a Buzz outfit and I am working on a Mickey shirt for him now. Need to think of some more for him, too! Any ideas/suggestions welcome!!!!!

We'll be there Dec. 11-17 at the Poly. My kids will be wearing customs everyday (and me too, for a couple). They have a couple of different Mickey head tees, one with Santa hat on, one safari, and a Bling one. Princess toile dresses for breakfast in the Castle, and a HMS outfit for MGM. My son will be wearing mostly just different Mickey head Tees, didn't get very creative with him.

We went the first week of Dec. last year and in was in the 80s but I don't know if we'll get that lucky again. Like you said, I'll just throw long sleeves under the tees, leggings under dresses and skirts and then probably bring both shorts and long pants for the other days.

Say Hi if you see us.
Amy

Hopefully we'll get a chance to say HI!

Ok, so I worked the last two nights (still need to go to bed) so I can't comment on everything because I'm afraid my brain is shutting down from lack of sleep, but to all the lurkers that have posted - WELCOME! This place is so much fun and everyone is so friendly!

Everyone's creations are absolutely wonderful! OK, time for bed. I'm hoping to finish a shirt for DS tonight, so hopefully I'll see you all later tonight or maybe tomorrow! Have a great day, everyone!

Sorry I don't have any ideas but had to say I lovethis fabric! It is really cute! Can't wait to see what you do with it!

I love June's earring! Did you use a pattern?

I used McCalls 2686 for the jumper. I got the pics for the appliques from Zazzle (got the ironed-on pics from there too).

Then I made this outfit
th_Picture266.jpg
which was so much easier. It doesn't show in the pictures, but my mil appliqued the characters to the legs of the pants. That encouraged me to move on to my next pattern, not containing the word easy in the title. I'm not sure that project will ever get finished :rolleyes1

Heading back to the beginner projects I made:

Great outfits! I reallylike the Pooh & the Minnie.

I know what you mean! UGGH! I also hate cutting out the patterns, and pinning the patterns! Has anyone tried fabric weights? I think that's what they are called anyway, you use them instead of pins. They just sit on the pattern. I saw some at Field's the other day, and wondered how they worked.

I would guess that they would only work with a rotary cutter. If you tried to use scissors the pattern would move. Right? or am I totally missing something?

Cindee

I had a friend who used them & loved them (I have trouble keeping the pattern from puckering when I use pins). I was too cheap to buy the wieghts so I used my ceramic coasters. It works really well. I do have to be careful not to shift the pattern, but it saves me ALOT of time pinning patterns down & makes it easy to move the pattern pieces around for the best fit.

Okay here are the pics...

Those outfits are wonderful! I love the family pic.

Is anyone going between Nov. 28 and Dec. 9. We'll miss everyone getting there on the 9th, we have a relatively early flight out. We'll be shopping at the airport to kill the time before because there's no point going anywhere when you've got to be at the airport around 9:45 am.

I have a list of customs to finish that's a mile long. I'm starting to get stressed out. I really want to get something done for MVMCP and another Christmas outfit. I just thought about wanting to do an outfit for Ohanas but now I'm not sure I'll be able to get it all together by then.

*deep breath*

Okay, I'll calm down. I've got to get the house ready we've got company coming and my apartment looks like it should be condemned.

Hey Cindee, my daughter wanted me to tell you she thinks Morgan is beautiful and looks like Pocahantas in her poncho. Luckily she didn't demand that I make one for her (whew!)...

Thank you! That is so sweet! It is funny you mention that-Morgan has been pestering me to buy her the Pocahantas dress and shoes from Disney. I FINALLY broke down and ordered them when they went on sale. (for her brithday in March LOL). She LOVES to wear her hair in "indian braids". I can't wait to see her in the whole outfit. :)

:grouphug: to your sweet daughter!

I love this fabric. I would use it to applique some overalls. Or you could cut out one of the Skull and Crossbones and applique it on a t-shirt.

We will be at DW November 25-Dec.1. I was wondering if anyone would be there during this time! It would be cool to meet a Diser!

How about a hoodie jacket? I've made several of them using Simplicity 5378 and found it to be pretty easy. Here's a picture...

I will be there those dates...but on Monday booked 4 day DCL for 11/25-11/29 - our first ever...hope we don't get seasick.

Nicholas is joining us on 12/1 to 12/9....so if you see a little blonde boy with a surfer boy hair cut and a short chubby cubby grandma and grandpa...and of course his mommy and daddy...wearing cutoms...it is US!!

My sister is pregnant. They have been trying for almost a year and a half and finally after one IUI cycle - they are pregnant!:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

She is due in May and now I have a baby to sew for. They are not finding out the gender. Which means I must find all gender neutral things for now. Here is my first project. Both sister and BIL are Irish so the flannel fabric seems appropriate.

April,

These are FANTASTIC!!! Thanks for coming out of lurkdom!!! I love the one of the whole family in front of the castle. I like how you put the guys in matching polo shirt, but yet they still look like they match. My DH wouldn't be caught dead in a matchy matchy outfit, but this he would do!
I also love the one of the girls with Minnie! Great job, keep it up!

For you Florida people, is anyone near Bunnell? I have an aunt, uncle and a Grandmother there. When we went to WDW in April we went a day early to see them and then went to Orlando. I saw that some of you were east of Orlando so I was just wondering!

Bunnell is just a bit north of me, I live south of Daytona Beach, and Bunnell is north of that. So they're sort of neighbors. :)

Ditto on that!!! I hate cutting out so much, if I don't do all of it at once, I'm apt to not finish the project, especaily when I'm working on something smocked...that's the fun part for me.

I've got the weights, but never had much luck keeping everything from shifting all over the place when cutting, so I pretty much only use them to hold down the tiissue or pattern-ease when I'm tracing off a pattern. I have a friend who swears by them, but she has a cutting table with a mat and cuts everything with her rotary cutter. I'm not talented or brave enough to atempt anything but a straight edge with one.

Love the hoodies that you made. I haven't tried a zipper except for a Halloween costume, so I'd hate to ruin this fabric. I may just use a little for an applique. That is all this boy has though, since I usually don't use patterns. We haven't put my DS in overalls since he was 1 1/2, so I don't see that happening either.

Looking forward to seeing everyone and their kids in customs in Dec. We didn't get tickets to MVMCP. Is it worth the extra $250 that it would cost us? I just don't see my kids being able to stay that long to get any real value out of it. Am I completely off base?:confused3
