I love this dress. If my girls saw this they want it. You have so much talent.

What???.... No holiday outfits yet?...;)

I started working on some Holiday things.

Not complete, but I thought I would give you guys a sneak peak!:goodvibes

Detail of stitch treatment on hem of top skirt, and appliqued holly leaves!

Still have button holes, and all those "holly berry" buttons to sew on, and a final clean up of loose threads to snip.

It's too late, time for bed. Hope to finish this and something else tomorrow.

Oh my gosh Tom, this is absolutely gorgeous!!! I so hope that one day I can sew as good as you!!!! Can't wait to see your next creations.

WOW! That is gorgeous! You amaze me more and more with every creation.

Tom, that is soooo pretty yet FUN too!!!:thumbsup2

Now are you going to disney for Christmas, or do you just like Disney so much that you put the mickey head on the dress?

Hey, does anyone have an idea of what I could do with just a fat quarter (maybe a little less) of the cute turkey fabric? I'd love to make a simple top (maybe to go over a turtleneck) for my friends size 4/5 daughter - and of course, the turkey's run up and down the piece so I couldnt turn it sideways. Any suggestion s would be GREAT!!!

thanks, wendy

I've decided to jump in and say hi. I've been lurking the last few weeks (creepy, really, when you think about it.) reading posts and admiring all the great things you all have created. I'm a sahm of two dd's and a stepdd, ages 5, 9 and 17. We have two dogs, a border collie/shepard mix named Goldie (9) and a beagle/pug mix the girls and I lovingly refer to as BadDog Bob. He's about one year old, hence the name. DH has a different name for him, but I don't think I can post that!:lmao:

I used to quilt many moons ago, before kids, and was even delusional enough to think I could keep up with it and made a few after the girls were born, but alas, it wasn't meant to be and I haven't sewed anything except the necessary play costume or halloween costume in several years.

I'm taking the dd's 5 and 9 to WDW the second week of December-it will be our seventh trip there and fifth over the Christmas holiday. I'm planning on matching twirl skirts and decoupage jeans for the trip, hoping the weather will cooperate and knowing that I'd better get a move on soon...I have yet to start. I also have grand delusions of finishing lap quilts with their favorite characters (Ariel and Tink) for the plane ride. Plus, I've started their personalized scrapbooks to capture autographs on this year. I have BIG plans.

I had resisted posting, since I wasn't sure how much I would actually post, but after realizing I've been on here reading posts almost every day for the last month or so, I decided that I may as well....

I have no clue how to multi-post, upload pictures or insert siggy's so pardon me while I learn. I'll figure it out, because you haven't seen bad hair until you've seen my five year old in the morning.... and I promise to not apologize!

We're out by DFW Aiport in Texas, I see several people are also from around these parts....my husband is a native from Fort Worth, I'm transplanted from Michigan, over twenty years now. All the girls were born here too.

DH left for business out of town for the next 5 days, so I'm sure I'll be here often...hoping to get to know you all better!

WOW WOW WOW, TOM YOU ARE SO VERY TALENTED! How do you come up with these ideas???? That is just beautiful and down to every little detail! I sew real quick and get it done and that is it....the details of this dress make it so unique! Just love it! What a lucky little girl you have!

I just started an outfit with almost the same exact style. great minds must think alike

I say enjoy it now, cause it won't last too long. My dd8 loves it until it's time to wear it, then she always makes up an excuse! Dd16 loves the stuff I make her sisters, but I've been given strict orders to not make her anything except pjs & pillowcases!! She loves sketching outfits and helping me plan for her sisters, but she'd never admit it!

I know her big thing right now is wanting to make purses like mama. And I did get her a sewing machine but that thing vibrates the whole house and sounds like a jet plane is landing in the living room. So I don't tend to let her use it that much. I love how she wants to be crafty like me.

That is a holiday work of art. Just beautiful great job. Thanks for sharing.

Well it looks like my pocket book will be a little bit safer. We had our ultrasound today and we are expecting a baby BOYpirate: . And most importantly he is healthy party: . Everything look perfect. dd was very upset that she's not getting a sister, but she will come around. I am so excited to find out the gender, and now we get to figure out a name

Congratulations! I'm so glad to hear that everything is perfect!

my favorite is Queen Ester also, did you see the movie One Night With the King(story of Ester)? Can't imagine the raw finger tips in sewing all those Ester costumes for that set! They were gorgeous!

What a cutie!!! I'd love to make this one for my niece, who's in an 18 mo.! I'm gonna CASE this!

Cool duds! How genuine & creative are you! Can't wait to see the whole family in a photo!

I can honestly say that I'm now breathing much easier today. I finally accomplished this horrible McCall's creation, a Prince's costume for Ds(3)!! There were 21 buttons for this thing, corded trim, satin lining, & I used panne velour for the outside. Which I thought was cost effective material compared to real velvet, but man o live-what a pain to work with!!!! Satin & velour right sides together, makes a slippery mess to work with and the edges kept curling on me!!! DH is very impressed, but of course I see all the horrible flaws!

O, ds told me just after I cut all this fabric out that he didn't want to be a Prince! So, he is now a "King/Dragon Slayer" for those in the know!;)
and this is his TShirt he's wearing underneath (created from DIS board designs)

Love Prince Charming/Dragon Slayer! You are a brave woman using those fabrics and trims! Fantastic job!

Hi Everyone,

Here are the Thanksgiving outfits I have been working on (thanks to the help from some pixie dust) and would love to ask what you think -
The first out fit is for 3yo Tim - I think its done, do you?
The second outfit is for 1 yo Hannah and the 3rd is for 5yo Elizabeth - what color ruffles would you suggest around the legs of the jeans? I ran out of the matching red and cant find it!!!! Do you think I should do decorative buttons of the top of the jumper or leave it plain? I plan on doing some more ric rack on Elizabeth's jeans, but other than that will a single ruffle do? It would have to be kinda long (like 5-6 inches) cause I had to chop of some decorative stiching at the bottom of the leg - your input is so appreciated!!! Thanks!!

th_100_4941.jpg

th_100_4942.jpg

I love that fabric and wish I had bought some of it before it was gone around here! I think buttons in a solid color on the jumper would be cute and ruffles around the jeans would be great. Even if you don't have the red just use some of the other fabric scraps to make the ruffles. Great job!

I'm looking for advice on these pirate overalls for DS 3. This is what I've done so far. But, they look like they are missing something? I know the boutique overalls for boys are a little less busy than the girls, but are these too plain?

I think the overalls are great just the way they are! Not too cutesy or girly!

Here is the finished AK outfit for dd-

I have a bunch more pictures on my PTR :) Lots of Iron-on projects for this trip- I guess I found this thread a little to late  But Next time.....

We leave in the morning!!! :yay: :yay: :yay:

Cute outfits! Have a great trip!

Well, I finally got Zoe's costume finished last night. The leotard is a bit snugger than I wanted but at least it fits. :) I don't think the velour I used has as much stretch as others.

th_fairy_girl2.jpg

Here she's having fun with the pile of leaves she and two friends "imported" from the neighbor's yard.
th_fairy_girl3.jpg

Beautiful costume! I love the pettiskirt! My girls have seen the Kaiya Eve ones and would love them but I can't cough up the money for them! Two girls times $85 equals too much! Is the tulle that you bought the same soft stuff that those skirts are made out of? How hard was it making the skirt - something only an experienced sewer should attempt or not too bad? Also, for those of you that have them already, where do the girls wear them? I'm torn on this. My girls would want to wear them everywhere, of course, but I think it is too dressy for school (they wear a lot of dresses anyway, but nothing that foofy!) and too fancy for church so that leaves me with birthday parties. Have you guys found a way of dressing them down?

HollyJollyMinnie004.jpg

Tom, this dress is gorgeous. I wish Kirsta could wear "real" clothes to school. Even just occassionaly. I hate those darn uniforms. haha! Now to show you how Disneyized I am, I would have bought 2 size red buttons for the holly and rearranged them to look like Mickey heads. Perhaps on the leaves also.

It's my dream to go to Disney at Xmas. But it has to wait until I retire from retail.

SO now you are not just a master sewer but a master at the computer too! Great picture! Looks like she is having fun, what a cutie!

Happy Halloween everyone!

Had to share a pic of the kiddos - I've posted the scary princess before, but here's both of them.

th_halloween1.jpg

Now I've got to tell you about my genious albeit cheezy Halloween getup. Some of you may have noticed that I'm an RN (you know, it's been in my signature for what? like 3 whole days or something.) Anyhoo, as I'm getting the kids dressed, I had a lightbulb moment. Caleb was a pirate last year, so I'll just borrow an eyepatch and his pirate hat (yes, I shoved my big ol' head into his pirate hat) wear a pair of scrubs, my stethoscope, and I'll be - are you ready for this - an ARRRRRRRRN. :lmao: I told you it was cheezy!

So, since I dressed up, I made DH dress up also. You know that episode of friends where Joey steals all of Chandler's clothes and wears them all? That was DH tonight! I made him go around saying "I'm Chandler - could I BE wearing anymore clothes?" Needless to say, I don't think anyone got either of our costumes, but we amused ourselves.

Hope everyone had a fun night!

I love clever costumes! They're my favorite, and Friends is my favorite show too!

Thanks! I thought she looked so innocent in this picture! What do you think of this one?????
th_NavygameandHalloween2007035.jpg

The girl is into size!!!!!!

The dentist will love her for this! Hopefully she'll share with you!

I think the ARRRN thing was clever. Cheesey, yes. But clever.

I know I haven't really been posting about anyones elses stuff...busy you know. But everything has been great, Tessa Cinderella dress, Zoe's halloween costume the evil princess-OMG how many pounds did that beautiful thing weigh???
That's enough about everyone else, we all know my favorite subject is, well, me...

Here is Lily in her finished (albeit not to original specs) patchwork skirt.

Now I have to go to bed. The plan for tomorrow is Epcot and I haven't had nearly enough sleep. Her Minne outfit still needs snaps sewn on if she is going to wear it tomorrow.

...t.

I love the skirt just the way it is! I know you were hoping for something different but I think it turned out great!

Hi Maggie, I have a black Persian named Boo, but he thinks his name is "damn you". But I love him anyway. haha.

Be sure to share your skirts and jeans with everyone when your done. We love to look and "borrow" ideas.

Hmmm..... I do love the quilt for the plane idea. I'm going to have to borrow that one. A pillow to? Or is that going too far?

Ok, I know that it's taken FOREVER for me to post pictures, but here are a few, and I'll get some more up soon.

These are pictures of the outfits that Nana made for the girls for the pumpkin patch and MNSSHP!!
