Ok, I know that it's taken FOREVER for me to post pictures, but here are a few, and I'll get some more up soon.

These are pictures of the outfits that Nana made for the girls for the pumpkin patch and MNSSHP!!

I love these!! The shirts are the best. Did she do those also?

Yep, she did! She used an orange and yellow sparkly fabric (is sparkly a word??) for the applique!! They turned out really cute!

Here's another turkey for you guys. It's in my signature. I guess you guys can get it from there. I'm not very computer savy:lmao: .

Beautiful costume! I love the pettiskirt! My girls have seen the Kaiya Eve ones and would love them but I can't cough up the money for them! Two girls times $85 equals too much! Is the tulle that you bought the same soft stuff that those skirts are made out of? How hard was it making the skirt - something only an experienced sewer should attempt or not too bad?

The green I used isn't quite as soft as the nylon chiffon of a Kaiya Eve pettiskirt but I think that's mostly because the green has glitter on it. It's still fairly soft, though, and Zoe didn't mention any itch issues. The fabric isn't like tulle because it seems to hold it's shape much better after wear and it doesn't tear nearly as easily as tulle. It's a knit, too, so it won't unravel like woven fabric.

Also, for those of you that have them already, where do the girls wear them? I'm torn on this. My girls would want to wear them everywhere, of course, but I think it is too dressy for school (they wear a lot of dresses anyway, but nothing that foofy!) and too fancy for church so that leaves me with birthday parties. Have you guys found a way of dressing them down?

This is why I've hesitated buying one for Zoe. She now has a Kaiya Eve we got in trade as well as the one I made for her. I'm planning to make some skirts or dresses for her to wear over the pettiskirts for Christmas and will do more for spring. I haven't decided if she'll be allowed to wear them to school but we might try the green one and see how it goes. I'm mostly concerned that it will get in the way when she's trying to play during recess.

Hi!! I finally found out how to tell if you are addicted to fabric LOL.:lmao:

I went to Walmart today and bought 49.75 yards of Halloween Fabric there are 6 different designs all 100% cotton. But I only paid 50cents a yard. They were normally $2.00 and was 75% off.  I am still so happy!! Ok did I go overboard??

HTH Someone I would love to go to more Walmarts but they are over an hour away.

I've decided to jump in and say hi. I've been lurking the last few weeks ...
I had resisted posting, since I wasn't sure how much I would actually post, but after realizing I've been on here reading posts almost every day for the last month or so, I decided that I may as well....

Maggi

Welcome Maggi...this place is great (but addicting as you can see!) :rotfl:

So I was looking at this thread from last page to present and when I saw your DD's GORGEOUS dress. The first thing I thought was that it would be something that princessleighsdad would make....it was so pretty and well done. Then I looked to see who made it and it was you!!!:rotfl2: :rotfl2: Are you a famous designer in disguise????:confused3 :goodvibes

Since we were stuck at home for 2 days with pink eye, this is how I spent my time:

Can I tell you how much I am ready for her to go back to school?
Awwwww isn't it so fun to have children underfoot for a few days whilst you sew???:confused3 :confused3 But she is soooo cute! Hope her eyes are all better! :3dglasses

Gobble, Gobble!!! Right click on and save this Turkey and upload it to photobucket. Add it to your siggie like you would a picture!! That's so much better, poor Thanksgiving kinda gets overlooked!!

Thanks for the turkey!!!!! :woohoo:

Detail of stitch treatment on hem of top skirt, and appliqued holly leaves!

Still have button holes, and all those "holly berry" buttons to sew on, and a final clean up of loose threads to snip.

It's too late, time for bed. Hope to finish this and something else tomorrow.
This is amazing! So much beautiful detail! LOVE IT!

I can't believe I just found this last week. I am only on about page 200(I dont think i will ever get caught up), but I just wanted to go ahead and post and tell you guys how amazing these outfits are. You guys are just awesome!!

I have just started sewing in the last 2 months. I took my mothers sewing machine away from her(she never uses it). So far, I have only done PJ's for my kids for christmas(about 4 pair each) and a couple of skirts for my DD9.

But, I have become addicted to fabric. I must go to hobby lobby if I am near to check their remnants(my nearest HB told me that they do new remnants almost every day, anytime a bolt gets to 3 yards or less, and it is marked 50% off, sometimes much less).

I have so much material and ideas for it in my head, I need to get to sewing more and looking for new fabric less.

I also found the minnie dot at a walmart last night. It was marked $2, so i decided to get all of it. It ended up being about 5 yards, and when she scanned it, it came up 50 cents a yard( I did a tiny happy dance:cool1: ). I have no idea what I am going to do with it. I need ideas for it for my DD9.

Happy sewing

Alisha

Welcome! And so the obsession begins......LOL

I've decided to jump in and say hi. I've been lurking the last few weeks (creepy, really, when you think about it.) reading posts and admiring all the great things you all have created. I'm a sahm of two dd's and a stepdd, ages 5, 9 and 17. We have two dogs, a border collie/shepard mix named Goldie (9) and a beagle/pug mix the girls and I lovingly refer to as BadDog Bob. He's about one year old, hence the name. DH has a different name for him, but I don't think I can post that!:lmao:

I used to quilt many moons ago, before kids, and was even delusional enough to think I could keep up with it and made a few after the girls were born, but alas, it wasn't meant to be and I haven't sewed anything except the necessary play costume or halloween costume in several years.

I'm taking the dd's 5 and 9 to WDW the second week of December-it will be our seventh trip there and fifth over the Christmas holiday. I'm planning on matching twirl skirts and decoupage jeans for the trip, hoping the weather will cooperate and knowing that I'd better get a move on soon...I have yet to start. I also have grand delusions of finishing lap quilts with their favorite characters (Ariel and Tink) for the plane ride. Plus, I've started their personalized scrapbooks to capture autographs on this year. I have BIG plans.

I had resisted posting, since I wasn't sure how much I would actually post, but after realizing I've been on here reading posts almost every day for the last month or so, I decided that I may as well....

I have no clue how to multi-post, upload pictures or insert siggy's so pardon me while I learn. I'll figure it out, because you haven't seen bad hair until you've seen my five year old in the morning.... and I promise to not apologize!

We're out by DFW Aiport in Texas, I see several people are also from around these parts....my husband is a native from Fort Worth, I'm transplanted from Michigan, over twenty years now. All the girls were born here too.

DH left for business out of town for the next 5 days, so I'm sure I'll be here often...hoping to get to know you all better!

Maggi

Welcom Maggi! Glad that you jumped on in - now, GET SEWING - LOL!

How is Nana feeling?

Welcome MAggie!!!

Thank for the kind welcome!! :)

Hi Maggie, I have a black Persian named Boo, but he thinks his name is "damn you". But I love him anyway. haha.

Be sure to share your skirts and jeans with everyone when your done. We love to look and "borrow" ideas.

Hmmm..... I do love the quilt for the plane idea. I'm going to have to borrow that one. A pillow to? Or is that going too far?

That's funny about your cat! I used to have three of them. Dh is definitely not a cat person, but he knew we all came as a package. He had to take them to get me.

I have grand plans to share...I've looked enough over the past few weeks, I promise as soon as I actually finish something I'll post it. I think I'll start with the quilts first, as I'm least intimidated by them. I actually got the idea from another poster here, so sorry I can't remember who from....she said she made them because of all the cooties on the airplane blankets and I though "Ew, good point!" So, add one more project to the growing list of stuff I have yet to start! I did think those pillowcases another poster made were TOO CUTE!! I think my head will pop off if I try to make one more thing....

Welcome Maggi...this place is great (but addicting as you can see!) :rotfl:
Yeah. I see that!......:rotfl: It's kind of like a soap opera in a way....

Welcom Maggi! Glad that you jumped on in - now, GET SEWING - LOL!
Thank you all for being so sweet!!! Off to my work!

I LOVE these outfits. Those shirts rock! I have yet to try to applique on a machine. I can do it by hand in a quilt, but I have never done it like that. It's so awesome. Your girls are adorable!

:welcome: Glad to have you here. Good luck on your projects! Make sure you share some photos when you are done.

My bestest costume for myself was the year I took a pair of sweatpants, put Smarties candies all over tham and went as a "smarty pants". I tend to be a smarty pants anyway, but that just made it official.

Here are some picture of our festivities tonight. I didn't make Sawyer's costume, but he's so darn cute and I don't get to post pictures of him nearly enough! Tessa was done trick or treating in 1/2 hour. But, when we tried to get Sawyer to let go of the candy bucket, he let out an unearthly screech. :rotfl: So, Henry took him to some more houses while Tessa went inside. When she saw how full her brother's bucket was, she changed her mind. But, it was too late!

You had a Mickey! We had two Minnie's here. If I ever get caught up on here I'll post pictures of the girls in their Minnie costumes and treat bags. They loved Halloween and had a blast. I know it is getting really commercialized but I love that for a month out of the year we get to be spooky! And I know it's not time for Christmas, but bring it on! I'm ready for the season. Christmas time for me is like being at WDW. Somehow I always feel happy when I look at the tree, or bake cookies. It is a lot of work but I love it. Now if I just had some outfits started for the girls I'd be in better shape!

I know, I know, you've heard it all before.....but, this is a great outfit. I agree that the detail is incredible. I watched your resells on the "site that shall not be named", and if we hadn't have been going in December (!) I would have been seriously bidding on them. My dd5 is right at a size 5, so I think at some point we must be destined for some of your outfits....:rolleyes1

It goes without saying that this is beautiful. However, I must admit my next thought was that either you are a very brave man to use so much white in your DD's outfits or your DD is exceptionally careful. I don't even buy white tees much because they invariably end with stains. ;)

:welcome: Maggi I'm in DFW also. I'm guessing you're some where out near Irving or north of the airport from what you posted? My BIL use to work for Delta, so I'm familar with the area somewhat.

I'm the gal who posted about the cooties on the airplane blankets. I'm a germaphob in a way. Especially when it comes to travel & recycled airplane air etc.

Hi Everyone,

Anyone live near Philly? I went to "fabric row" today, and I have to say I was disappointed. Like really no disney fabric - lots of furniture fabric and fancy stuff - and then the cotton stuff was like 7.99/yard. I guess I was thinking tons of cool fabric and cheap prices~~oh well,,,,did I miss anything??????
