this is darling.

Wow! Everything posted lately has been Fantastic! You all amaze me every day with your talents!

I finally got DD to want to "model" my Minnie set that I made.

th_HollyJollyMinnie044.jpg
th_HollyJollyMinnie035.jpg

I also made a matching jean and t-shirt combo to go with this, complete with "fur cuffs".
th_HollyJollyMinnie012.jpg

I know, the picture is "catty whompus"!
th_HollyJollyMinnie018.jpg

You can even put these two combos together for a different look.
th_HollyJollyMinnie027.jpg

Use the peasant top with the jeans, and take the belt and use it in the hair.
th_HollyJollyMinnie058.jpg

Yes, I am cheap, and I try to find ways to get several looks with just a few pieces! (Even if I did use white!) ;)

She looks great and all the different variations are incredible!!!!!!!!!

can i just say you are so talented ;) as alway the outfits are beauuutimus :cutie: and i absolutely love that you can mix and match them that is not cheap that is just smart's right there.

Well I have tried keeping up with this thread and I notice it eats up my sewing time, so now I am just going to join you all and simply post my latest sewing projects. Just so you all know, there have been amazing outfits and I feel a little silly putting my two on (which are completely cased from here). ;) But here goes....

Here is my DD2.5 in her Thanksgiving outfit...she calls it her "dobble dobble outfit". Despite this it actually does say "Gobble" on the leg. I am making matching bows after I finish some other projects.

th_IMGP4388.jpg

th_IMGP4387.jpg

Ok next is my attempt at a playful Christmas outfit to wear to school etc. It's a dress and matching pants. Once again...no bows yet but I still have to finish my DD4's.

Ok back to lurkdome and sewing....one more day till I go back to work. :rolleyes1

Here is something for all the boys out there!

104_3305.jpg

Of course this could do for a girl too! I made it like the jeans where the edges will fray for a more boyish rugged look. Not sure if I'll do jeans with it or not, DS4 loves it so that is all that matters!

That is co cute!

Ok - here it is! I LOVE how this turned out! I think I may have to make one for Emma too! I wanted to make bows in matching colors - but I didn't have the right shades - so these will do for pics!

cute what pattern do you use for the top?

Coming out of lurk mode to post the latest sewing project. I figured after making 2 tops without any complications I'd be ready to attempt sleeves, a collar and buttons :rolleyes1 Soooo, I thought I would compensate for adding these new complications by choosing one of those Kwik Sew Learn to Sew patterns  I mean, they say they are designed for beginning sewers so it should have been easy right :thumbsup2 Well all I can say is pphhhhhtttt (that's a raspberry that is). If it wasn't for my sewing :teacher: I would have never figured it out. Am I doomed to be in sewing class forever and never be able to understand pattern instrcutions  I managed to keep my forehead away from nearby walls during moments of frustration  and convinced myself that the seam ripper is indeed my friend. I showed my family and now they each want me to make them one too :scared1: including DH and my dad! Oh boy...ok, done venting. So what do you guys think?

th_nemo.jpg
very cute i want one too!!!!

ok, We got a lot to share today. this is sooooo not sewing or disney related but wanted to share my girls at there first cheer competition this season!

and here is Josephine in her routine. she is the girl in the back on the right as a base!

Both there groups got first place!
Lori
congrats on 1st places! and they are just sooooo cute how proud you must be my dd wants to do cheerleading but i just have mixed feelings, but after seeing this and how much fun they are having i may have to rethink it..;)

Lori123 - the Christmas outfit is adorable. Love the tree and holly on the jeans. Great job.

Here's my latest twirl skirt. I was very excited to find a shirt at Target that matches the pink perfectly. Got 2 of these done today. The ruffler foot and I are slowly becoming friends.

th_disboutique090.jpg
i love the colors , turned out great glad you found a matching shirt....

ok, I have been wanting to do this design for a while and finally decided to do it! Whew, JoJo likes it. I call it Rock Star Mickey!
th_IMG_3454.jpg

want to get some better pics in it, but this will do for now!
too cute i love it i may just have to case that:cutie:

I haven't been in a few days, and I am soo loving all the new outfits.

We leave for our Disneyland trip in 9 days!!! which makes me think CRAP! I need to get to sewing. I have to make DD a few outfits, and her neck travel pillow with matching planket. She picked out her fleece for that today. I also go my matching lavender fabric that matches the Princess fabric I got. Hopefully it will be enough to make top for her. I am still waiting on some fabric to ship to me. I hope it comes soon!

I want to make matching bows for the outfits, as I have the instructions to make the hair bows, I am not very grand at it. But I guess one can only try right? I have made a few bows, none that I am specially proud of. but I say they are getting better.

I found a charting program for my hidden mickey head for a hat for dd. So I need to get to my needles. As well as knitting up a shawl for dd for her dress to wear for the father daughter dance her school is doing. Its so very exciting. I really amd tempted to sneak in and take a few pictures. hehehe I was going to make her dress, but she found one that she HAD TO HAVE at Wal Mart. and for $17 it actually saved me money. Its very pretty. I guess we cant make everything for the kids...can we?? At least I still have some part of making it special for her.
anything that you make will be special even if it is just a hair bow , i have found that out the hard way but it is true , we can't make everything for the kids , can we? i need to repeat this over in my head:thumbsup2

AWESOME fabrics!!! I love them all!! I really should check out some of our local quilt shops to see what they have!

I found a great bargain last night - minnie dot at Walmart for 50 cents a yard. They only had 7 yds left, but I bought it ALL!
U can never havee enough minnie dot fabric;)

WHEW!! I'm all caught up now!! I've been so busy that I've been reading and not replying! So, to all those that I didn't go back to reply on, all of the new outfits are adorable!!

CastleCreations - I'm happy to see pics of Ireland, and it looks like she's feeling better (I hope). And, who couldn't be happy wearing that Cindy Loo Who outfit!!

I'm in the middle of making Christmas twirl skirts for the girls. I wanted to get them done in time for their pics with Santa yesterday, but that just didn't happen. But, hopefully they'll be done in time for our day trip to MVMCP.

And finally, now that my coffee cup is empty, I'm all caught up on the DISboutique and I have piles of laundry and dirty dishes to deal with, here is a shameless post of my little cheerleader.

She's the one "on top" as the flyer (which makes this mom nervous). She cheers for a little flag football team, and they decided to go to a couple of local competitions. They got 1st place in both, nevermind that they were the only ones in their category, because their group is 26 little girls. :rotfl2:

th_IMG_8837.jpg

th_IMG_8829.jpg
:scared1: the flyer, but they are at least right there it looks like, she is just cute :goodvibes

My mother made my son flannel pokemon pjs a couple of years ago. I'm not sure where she found the fabric, probably JoAnn's. I was in my local quilt shop and on the clearance shelf I found this:

th_100_1896.jpg

QUOTE]Do not show UtahMama or her boys at that :rotfl: very cool indeed i need to make sure my boys do not see it either;)

I haven't posted here since the summer when I made a couple ribbon shirts using iron on material. I actually tried to sew a Halloween ribbon shirt for my niece. I think I'll probably stick with using the iron on stuff. I really want to learn to sew like you all, but I don't have anyone to teach me!! I'm just struggling through it myself and it's so hard. Anyways, here's the shirt I made...

th_100_3549.jpg

th_100_3559.jpg

that is a very cute idea

This is one of the skirts i made the other day. Its not Disney but I am going to make one with some of my Disney Fabrics this week for DD.

yea boy stuff , i am looking for more boy stuff, but you are right that could be for a girl also, i never heard of the frayed jeans you will have to post a picture so i can case it ..;)

okay i am all caught up on posts but with my luck as i post this there will be 10 more to get caught up on :rotfl:

Crossing my fingers as i push the submit reply:rolleyes1

Okay, I've been sewing like crazy this weekend :) I finished DD10s Christmas outfit, made my first ever peasant top (yay, shirring rocks, thanks for teaching me!) And this outfit for DD2:

This is the portrait peasant dress from YCMT. You are right Heather, it was easy. I also used this pattern to make my other peasant top and just made the bodice longer (and I still need to add a ruffle on the bottom.) I was too scared to try the wonky YCMT peasant top pattern. Anyone looking to buy, I would recommend the portrait peasant dress pattern. You get the dress pattern, the rumba dress pattern, and you can easily convert it to just a top.

DSCN2914.jpg

And here is my first ever stripwork jumper! It was also pretty easy but don't look too closely at the ruffle on the bodice. Let's just say I learned and my next one will be better!

I have a Janome 644D and I don't really care for it. I think the biggest problem is that I was just used to the White I had. But it was getting older, and I have a Janome sewing machine which is fabulous, so I thought I'd convert. I really wish I hadn't. It doesn't care for anything too thick. It doesn't want to go unless I give the wheel a little spin. Do you have a local sewing machine store? You can go in and "test drive" one. I kind of wish I looked into a Baby Lock. They are supposed to be self threaders. I hate to thread a serger.

Where do I look for a Baby Lock, is that a brand name? Thanks so much for your help, as a person who is very new to sewing and serging I really appreciate any/all advice!

Ok - here it is! I LOVE how this turned out! I think I may have to make one for Emma too! I wanted to make bows in matching colors - but I didn't have the right shades - so these will do for pics!

I love this too! I'm curious, when you do the ruffles on the jeans like this (with three layers) are the bottom of the ruffles sewn to the top of the next or are they individual (so they could "flap")? I am wanting to try some like this but I wasn't sure how they were done. TIA!

THANKS!! :)

I got the fabric at JoAnn believe it or not. I had the buttons and red bling here. The ruffle wasn't that hard. I just cut three strips that were the same length but different widths, sewed up the side seam, hemmed each one and then sewed them together at the top. Then I measured how long the ruffle was (remembering to subtract for the seam allowance) and cut that much off the jeans - sewed the ruffle on - and then topstitched to make it lay right. I hope that I am making sense - LOL.

You already answered my previous question! Thanks!

Wow!! Lots of gorgeous outfits!
Twob4Him I love your outfits. Were the appliqued letters hard? They are so cute.
Well the letters weren't too hard. The only thing I have to remember is not to make the zig-zag too wide or else it looks sloppy. I also went over each letter twice. Have you tried appliquing?? I am still drooling over the Grinch a few pages back

Love this, very cute! Pink and brown are my favorites!

Kirsta did her first year of cheer this fall. They didn't do well in Competition tho'. I don't get it, there were 5 teams competing, and they gave 4 awards. Couldn't they have an honorable mention? Little kids don't understand. Anyway, she did great herself, and I thank her ballet teacher for this. She's been in that for 3 years. I really think it helped. But boy is this expensive!! She loves it. Her FB team is in the playoffs, so we have a couple more cheer weeks ahead. I do realize that the coaches are volunteer, but her coach was awful. She was so disorganized and couldn't control the girls.

We had this problem last year. Morgan cheered for the first time. Her coach was 15 and spent practice time fighting with her mother! No warm ups, no tumbling practice, nothing but line up and "cheer" It was terrible! Needless to say we did not cheer this year.

Cindee

Those outfits are sooooo adorable! The pics of the girls are really beautiful! We leave in 6 days.....wish we had those cute outfits and hair bows! :cutie:

To those asked the name of the sheet set - I looked and I think I may have cut all the parts with any labels off. Sorry! I bought it on disneyshopping.com, but I'm not sure if they still have it.

I've seen them on :wizard: by searching Mickey Sheets and checking the bedding category (no I don't have any listed - I was looking to buy. :lmao:)

I went to a local quilt shop today and found me some Michael Miller Ironworks fabric!! They only had a little under 2 yards, though. I could have spent all day there. If I could, I'd just unroll all those bolts of fabric and waller around in it! The "feel" of quilt shop fabric is so nice!

We have a nice JoAnns in town and the local WalMart has a semi-decent fabric department but now that I've been working with quilt shop fabric for a couple of years, it's so hard to go back. JoAnns and WM do have some nice fabric but it's not always as easy to find. I made Zoe 2 Halloween twirl skirts with some of the WM/JA fabric I had left over and I have to say I'm glad they were intended to be worn for just a short period. After just a couple washes, they are limp looking and don't look nearly as full as they are. I've also made her similar twirl skirts out of the quilt shop fabric and they hold up so much better and don't wrinkle as easily. I know the price difference of the fabric isn't trivial but I definitely suggest people consider how much wear an item will get as well as how much time goes into making it and decide if the money saved on fabric is worth the shortened life of the garment. I'm a bargain shopper so it's hard for me to spend full price on the quilt shop fabric so I've found a few online sources that typically have fabric on sale. They may not be the newest or hottest prints but I love finding great fabric for $5 per yard or less. (FYI - TeresaJoy included links to my favorite fabric sites on her link page.)

OK, I'm off my soapbox now.

Wow great work everyone. I want to add some bling to DD store bought dress. Does anyone have any advice on what I can use to attach the bling?

Some crystals are heat set so you can just use a special tool to apply them... or even an iron as I did. I've used E6000 glue to apply some crystals to see how it holds up to laundering and was very pleased with the results. The jewels are still there almost a year later. The tshirt is worn out but not the glue.

Oppps...one more...you posted while I was working on my masterpiece multi-quote above :rotfl2: I love pink and brown and look how nice the two came together. I am askeered  to try the elastic thread and shir a top but maybe I will try it if you say it is easy. First I have to locate some elastic thread. Beautiful job!

Don't be afraid to try the elastic thread shirring. It's really easy. The biggest problem I've had it making sure the elastic is wound on the bobbin semi-tightly. Once you're done shirring, a blast of steam works wonders to get the elastic to contract nicely. Both JoAnns and WalMart have elastic thread. Ours has it with the other packaged elastic.

Hi EVeryone,

Just a note for the star wars fans on the boards - there are some cute Christmas star wars designs over on the creatvedisigns board - yoda as santa and darth with a snowman - funny!!!!

Questions for the embroiderers out there - when Im doing something on jeans, the thread looks nice and smooth and stuff - but then on a sweatshirt, even with a stabilizer it looks not as smooth, do i need to adjust something?

thanks, wendy
