Don't worry, I won'd tell her! ;)

I keep thinking I'll sew something for the girls Sarah dolls (really Chou Chou babies) but, I haven't gotten around to it yet. What were you thinking of making? There are doll clothes patterns in the bookmarks. I'm not sure if they are bitty baby sizes, but I think there are some there.

It's much much too quiet here! I'm considering being very brave and getting my new serger out! Can I thread that thing????

Guess I shoulda just multi-quoted  I got my serger out for the first time yesterday and now I want to sew just so I can serge! That thing is fast! And fun! Okay, not so much until I got it figured out. Threading it was a pain, but I didn't figure out that I had to pull up that sort of tree thingy that holds the thread up high above the spools and mine was sort of sitting on top of the spools and I couldn't figure out why my thread kept breaking :confused3 :rotfl: :rotfl2: But once I figured that out it was all good. I got a lot of practice threading that thing though! And I whipped up a peasant top for DD10 this morning in about half an hour!

I have confession to make. I've only skimmed the last 15 pages. If anyone has said anything to me, or about me, I've missed it. Sorry. I just scrolled through to see a few outfits and lots of pictures of hunks from the 70's. BUT, I'm back now, and I'll do my best to keep up! Hope you've all had a great Thanksgiving!

Good job! I'm glad you like your serger. I've had one for almost 16 years now, my mom gave me one as a Christmas gift the year I was pregnant with Marissa so I could sew her nursery with it. I've said ever since I don't know how I could keep house without it. And threading is still a pain, even when you have it all figured out. I'm lazy, I'll put off starting a new project just because I need to change thread colors, lol.

Celery, that story had me crackying up! What is your partner's name? Tammy? Am I way off? Anyway, that was hilarious! I hope she is doing ok thogh.

Yep, it's Tammy. She's doing much better finally - it took way to o long for her ear to start healing and she can't wear one of her hearing aids, but she's much better.

Wendy, spongie and jham - aren't they just fabulous???
I was talking about Wendy and her bare minerals today with my family.
I kid you not, we were in AK, all of us sweating like pigs except for perfect Ms. Wendy.
Not even a glisten!!!
And spongie - can I just say you look glamourous? Are you using bare minerals too?

Dress unfinished, fine. 1 layer it is. But wait, no it doesn't matter b/c she REFUSES to wear it. she is wearing her AK dress, without the straps done, pulled down around her waist. I guess I will be making twirl skirts from now on.

HAPPY DAY!

I am SOOOO sorry. I just read through your sewing marathon session - what a letdown!
I think you have more strength than I do.
cuz I just might have tried to establish my dominance on that one. it would not have been pretty! :rotfl2:

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanks for the condolences. I am such a strong person that I am highly considerng NEVER sewing again. The phrase "I just whipped up a.." is starting to Tee me off!! I can NOT whip up anything. a simple twirl top took me 2 days. of course there was sewing machine issues etc. but still, it seems like every time I sew no matter how prepared I get I take 2 steps forward and 1 step back. Currently I am of the mind that learning how to use a ruffler would help things immensly. One of my biggest obstacles is gathering and attaching skirts and ruffles. I've heard all of the gathering tips in the world (I just used elastic thread and zig zagged over it and LOVED it!!!) but its spacing I have an issue w/.
Luckily the teddy bear/apple fabric can be worn for a while and I will finish the second layer and her peasant top this weekend...if I have a working machine. Of course this means shirring which I have never done I've heard all of the "yes, virginia, it's THAT easy" testimonials on here so am not too afraid to try. Of course I can't sew a straight line for !@#$ so we'll see.

As far as Little not wearing the dress, she always wears what I tell her to and I never gave any thought to her opinion. When I told her I was making her a new dress she said "I already have dresses!" So I guess it was a bum project from the jump. I should've listened to her. She didn't get to wear her AK dress at WDW so at least it got worn.

Bare minerals.. I am a HUGE fan. I have a girlfriend who uses it and I LOVE it. She had a friend's wife pick some up for me for my birthday in AUG but she and her husband are fighting and I have yet to see it. So when I ran out of my usual MK foundation (that I really don't like anyway since they changed formulas) I got some faux bare minerals by oh, Loreal or someone. NO GOOD, I've noticed, in pictures but not in my bathroom mirror, that I have a slightly ashy look AND my face always itches like heck...and at the end of the day my face is SOOO oily. YUCK!! When I get back to work I plan on ordering the REAL deal, then I can look as pretty as Wendy too! Well, probably not that pretty but at least my skin will look good!!

This is my first attempt at applique in a really long time, and I don't have much experience with it in the past. The dress will be a stripwork jumper, and this is the bodice front. I had to draw my own gingerbread men, I couldn't find anything small enough to use as a pattern, and it seemed easier to me to just hand embroider the faces. Dh thinks they look goofy, but they match the gingerbread men in the skirt fabric, and the passed inspection with my 15 yo, she thought they were cute.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I've been absent for about a week so I had a lot of pages to go through. I did look at them all but I know I can't begin to comment on all the cute outfits and photos shared. I do remember a couple questions/discussions that I thought I'd add my 2 cents to.

* The interfacing I use on the back of tees behind appliques is called Fusi-Knit. It comes in white and black and is a great way to not only make the inside look neater but also to help lessen the "itchiness" that some kids complain of when wearing an appliqued tee.

* Although I have no significant other to worry about getting jealous, I do have some names to add to the lists of hotties:

Denzel Washington
Harrison Ford
Johnny Depp
Benjamin Bratt
Angelina Jolie - hey, there's always one who can make a person think of new possibilities LOL

* If I've been PMed and not responded or someone asked a question in a post on this thread and I missed it, please bring it to my attention. I've been dealing with some physical issues over the past few weeks and ended up getting behind on my work. I'm now mostly caught up but getting there meant cutting back on my computer time... and this thread.

I think they're cute...If you ever find an image you want, just resize it to the size you need. I rarely find a perfect size image for my appliques. Another thing..unless your husband is Tom, I wouldn't ask for their advice. Any man that comes near my sewing, usually just :confused3 shruggs...and is like...Well...if you like that sort of thing.... Okay men, with the exception of Tom......go back to deep frying whatever you can find, since you are all done with the turkeys....

Not too mention if you follow their advice and it happens to work out they will try to take all the credit for it and gloat incessantly...or is that just mine? I chose fabrics for the window treatments and asked him to pick the ones he liked out of MY ALREADY PRE SELECTED FABRICS and every time someone compliments them he says "Thanks, I picked them out!" WHA?:confused3 yes, I had NOTHING to do with it. GRR. Men.

It was a drama filled day! Whew you never know with my mom around! Here are two pictures! Josephine decorating cookies and The kids on the couch before eating!
oh can't wait till tonight. My friend is picking me up at midnight for some shopping. so I am sewing the time away till she gets here!

Here's how scared I am of threading that darn machine! I decided to do some CLEANING instead! Uggh! At least my living room looked great, until about 2mintues after everyone got back home, now it doesn't look any different! GRRRRR

A half hour top though....hmmm......Yes, I have to try it!

I'm glad to hear Tammy is doing better, but sorry to hear things didn't heal as well as they should have.

Bare minerals? I don't think I've ever heard of that. Is it makeup?

Ok, I had to go look this stuff up online. I think I've seen an informorcial for it? Anway, I am WAY to easily influenced by this board! I now so want some of this makeup. AND I NEVER wear makeup! Geesh guys! See what you do to me? Now I am obsessing over this makeup, that I would probably never wear anyway along with that Jasmine fabric that Deann posted WAAAAY back when, and Marie fabric!

I can see it now, I order this makeup and Brian sees it:
"Why did you just spend $100 on makeup? You don't even WEAR makeup"
"Yes, but T-beri and UtahMama love this makeup, so I had to have it."
"WHO??"
"You know, the Pepsi lady and the lady that lives in Weeki Wachi"
"Jord's Grandma is a mermaid?":confused3
