Great job!!! I love making bows! I needed to make some Halloween ones today, but was out of white ribbon and didn't want to make another trip to WM!

I just learned something, and wanted to share it with all you guys!!! For a VERY VERY LOOOONG time it has annoyed me that the search function on this board doesn't work. While surfing around on other threads today (I know, can you believe I actually went somewhere besides here???) I found that if you change the color sheme to California Gold instead of default or any other scheme, the search works! (Or, at least it works better!) To change the scheme, go down to the very bottom left of this page, and use the drop down menu. It probably says "default" now. I was even able to use the "find all posts by this member" search!

Hey.....everyone...I keep seeing the Minnie sewing machine pictures, very cute. Where is Minnie's sewing machine, we dont want to miss it!

Shoot! I have been eyeing that set for a couple of weeks. I stupidly used my 50% off coupon on cheap tulle. Shoot! :headache:

Bummer! I always do that - use my coupon then find something better to use it for. I was there last week - it took all I had but I resisted buying it then with a 40% off coupon and waited for the 50% off to be good.

There is a picture of the different shanks in the photobucket account.
ETA: Here, I'll go ahead and post it here for you

What do the different shanks do for sewing???

She just asked for a picture of the different shanks. You have to match the type of ruffler foot to the type of shank you have on your sewing machine, or the ruffler foot won't work.

It's just the way your sewing machine is set up. I don't know if there is an advantage to any particular style, other than the slant shank ruffler being harder to find.

Not quite a custom clothing question, but a custom valance/drape question.

I am going to make some vallances for my family room and dining room. Do you have any good websites with directions, information, quantity of fabric etc. to use? I think I know what I am doing but I like having a backup just in case.

Hey I still have my e-mail with the 50% off coupon if anyone wants I can e-mail it to you. It is good until monday- for columbus day. :woohoo:

Went to my cousins wedding today -DD wore the little skirt I made and I put the tutu under it. She was soooo cute. I'll post a pic. tomorrow to late tonight- gotta meet the family for breakfast.

Okay, I tried to make the pictures smaller in my multiquote but somehow the pictures vanished. Where do I put the th?

Also, I bought the Brother sewing machine from Costco. Has anyone who bought this machine have a ruffler foot? I've got to get one of those! All of this gathering is killing me! I've looked at Joann's the last two times I've been there and they say they don't carry them. Any other ideas where I can buy one? Also, I know a while ago somebody posted pictures of the shank (or something like that) does anyone know where those are so I can tell if I go to a store? Can I buy a ruffler foot on ebay? Thanks for everyone's help!

Oh,

I also wanted to say good bye to T-beri. We'll miss you and hope you come back soon!

You can get a ruffler for it, my Brother 6000 machine is a low shank. I do believe they are very similar machines. Also I was just at JoAnns yesterday and they had rufflers for only $15 (I paid $30 at Hancocks because I just HAD to have one!) I hope this helps and happy ruffling!

Hey this is much better! I always used to use the "search all posts by this user' when I wanted something specific, but haven't been able to do that in a long time. It is much better with the California Gold...but U G L Y!!!!

I try to keep the coupons in the bookmark site, so if anyone has any current coupons that I dont't have there, please PM me. (I'm talking about the coupons that can be shared of course!)

I can't wait to see picture!

I was SOOO happy to be able to use that feature again!!!! But, you are so right!!! It HURTS my eyes to look at this!!!! I'm thinking I might just switch over when I want to do a search!

OHHH, I like the Holidays one. The California Gold is YUCKY!!

Do the search features work with the Holidays one?
ETA: Just checked, and it doesn't.

You have to wonder what they were thinking with this California Gold!!! Maybe I just need to put on my sunglasses and get use to it! :cool2:

Hi, Your machine would need a low shank Ruffler foot. Only the larger Joann's carrys them. Hancock's does have them for $29.95 and right now they are 30% off. (Just bought one for AliKat99 for an early X-Mas Gift). They are also available at an ebay store (sewingmachinesuppy) for $18.49 with $2.00 shipping for the screw on ruffler foot and $38.49 for the Brother Snap-on model. They both work the same but you are paying twice as much for the convenience of just snapping it on rather than screwing it on. Youcanmakethis.com has a wonderful FREE tutorial regarding using a ruffler. Also both places have a foot called the Open Toe Clear Embroidery Foot which is for doing Applique work. It has a channel uder it which allows you to do the satin stitch with a higher thread density and with the open clear toe you can see where you are sewing    Hope this helps! Thank you! That is great, but gag on the color scheme. I guess I will have to get used to it or just change when I need to but, I am lazy so I probably will leave it like this. :rotfl2:

Thanks to those who made references to the Page one picture photobucket and other references. This is great! I was going through pages trying to find an outfit I liked and that I wanted to use for inspiration. This was much easier!

I am playing catch up.

The majority of all of my posts are on this thread. This is the only thread I keep up with now. I will post some questions I am sure when I finish our trip plans.

I guess it is sour grapes but . . . I have not posted much since I got an infraction. I did the same thing another posted did on the same thread and only I was reprimanded. I know this is a taboo subject.

Also, my DH was majorly concerned about my girls photos on the site. There are so many lurkers that we just do not know who is out threre. He is a very protective father and I need to respect him for that. I asked that the girls pics be taken off of the link.

Ooh, thanks so much! As usualy everyone has been so helpful with everything! People told me what kind of shank their Brother machine had, posted pictures again, etc. Thanks to everyone! This thread is so helpful to a beginner like me! I am going to have to check out both of these feet.

What does an infraction do?

I have the same concerns with pictures of my girls too. I resell my kids clothes on voldemart and I usually post pictures of my girls wearing them and it does worry me that someone could fixate on them and find out where we are. I watch two other mothers auctions who have little girls and they even use their names in the listings. This really worries me b/c when you send a package to someone your address is on the return label and now they could call out to your child using their name. Scary! It's too bad you have to worry about things like this. On that same note, the child living across the street from me (he is in middle school) was removed from their home last spring for an incident with his half brother. As a former teacher I know how hard it is to get a child removed from a home (lots of yelling, time on the phone, interviews w/ social workers, etc.) and they are blowing it off like it was a small thing being blown out of proportion. He is now back living in their home and we are on high alert. Even though he is still a child himself I really feel that once someone shows you their true colors you have to believe them, and he has shown his. We live in a very nice neighborhood with an elementary school right behind his house so you just never know who is around you.

I know what you guys mean about your children. I've only posted one pic of them and I now will just show the clothing, no models! I also have never put their names on here and that is the very reason why! It is soo bad that you have to be this way!!! But you never know who is watching or looking.
