Ok, I didn't get out of here early. BUT I am going to Joanns, this just means I have to pick up the tot first and it will be a bit more- um, magical:wizard:
I did howver convince myself after reading tnmoms mathematic tute that I will make the halloween patchwork tier twirl.... What kind of mother would I be if I didn't.;) OOH!! I have a 50% off coupon, of course its only for 1 cut of fabric, maybe I could just get one, start cutting it and go another day w/ another coupon- it's not like I get anything done in one day anyway!!!
We'll see.
Why do I let you guys talk me into this stuff???
...t.

Well, now that you're talked into it, when I was at Joanns a couple of days ago the Halloween fabric was all 40% off. That is where I got most of the fabric I used in the Halloween twirl skirt I just made.

Hi Everyone,

Wow - all the outfits and costumes look GREAT~~~

I just wanted to let you know that the Dollar Tree now has glow fairy wands! the are the kind like the glow bracelets/necklaces! its a long stick with a star on top, and they had pink, purple, yellow, green, blue and orange.....just in case it would help finish off one of those costumes for the MNSSHP~!!!!!

Wendy

We bought these for MNSSHP last Friday and I was so disappointed that they were "duds" and did not glow. I would pick up a few extra just in case you have the same experience. :)

I am about to start my kids Halloween costumes. My son is going to be Jack Skellington, he's picked out his fabric and I found a boys suit pattern that I am going to have to do a Frankenpattern for (I hope I used Frankenpattern right). My daughter (the 2 year old diva she is) has changed her mind about being Sally (to match her brother) since seeing Barbie The Island Princess. Here is where I need the help......

Here is a pic of Barbie The Island Princess:

I have found the fabric that I want to use for the dress and the pattern McCall's M4888 (just gotta wait until the McCall's patterns go .99 cents again). What I am having trouble with is the peacock feathers that she has attached to her dress. I looked at JoAnn's & Hancock's yesterday for big peacock feathers but no luck. I did find some small ones at JoAnn's for $1.00 each and lots of different kinds/colors of feathers, so I can make my own. Anybody have any ideas on where to find peacock feathers and how to attach them to the dress afterwards? TIA!

I think I have seen big peacock feathers at Hobby Lobby? Do you have one of those? Or maybe a Michaels or a place that specializes more in flowers rather than fabric?

Another option to do a twirl skirt from and get several cute fabrics in there is a circle skirt cut into wedge shapes. I used my circle skirt pattern and folded into a pie shaped wedge and used that to cut wedges from several fabrics. I havnt posted a picture of that one yet- but I can try. It was a lot less cutting than the patchwork squares!

:offtopic: Ok, totally OT, but I'm a little upset! My husband was out hunting this morning, and when he got back to our only-basic-coverage-insurance van, the window was smashed out!!!!! GRRRRRRRRRR Someone took the hitch off the back, and then smashed the window and stole his waders, and possibly some other things, Brian was so upset he couldn't talk much. He is at the police station now reporting it. WHY do people do things like that???? I have no idea how much a new window is going to cost for the van, but I am guessing it isn't going to be cheap.

 I'm so sorry!!!! I hope something gets worked out!

OMG Susan! That is so cute!

She looks so cute! I wish I was motivated to make a Halloween skirt! I think I don't want to because once I make one, I'll have to make three!!!

I used patterns from YCMT website for both these pieces. I had the Tinkerbell purple and green fabric.

 Susan

She just gets cuter and cuter! This is my favorite. I am going to start that pattern pretty soon. Any tips???

How did she like the Lion King?

I have no help for you but I am really excited. DD has been asking for that movie. The Barbie movies are pretty good. I really liked Rapunzel. The fairy ones are way to complicated!!!

Anyway good luck and I cant wait to see what you come up with.

Not Disney but DD LOVES it!!!
(excuse the after bath hair)
I can't get her to take it off!
The "skirt" is actually a skort from the W store. I did the ruffle, tie and shirt.

I need some help. I need the directions for a peasant top. I thought I saw a link to one here. I have looked all through TeresaJoy’s pattern link. I think I am overlooking it. I do have to say that there is a lot of stuff there. It is very well put together. I can tell it took a lot of time to do all of that. Thank you!!!

I am attempting to CASE the clown tutu outfit from :wizard: . I want a peasant top with no corset.

I would really appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance :goodvibes

I just left there and btw,I'm not talking to you.
Fortunately she's little so I got 3 fabrics needed for under $4 . Ofcourse DS showed DD the halloween mickey and she had to have it so there was less options for matching it. I realized you used more than 3 fabrics, I might need to too. for color variation.

My husband thinks all I make her are stipwork skirts/dresses/tops...he see them as the same outfit:rotfl: so I thpught I'd change it up. She's little it shouldn't be too bad,
THIS KEYBOARD SUCKS!!! I'mgoin' home!!!

Awww adorable. The ruffle looks really good, I couldn't even tell it wasn't meant to be there (maybe because it was!)

Isn't that just like us women to change our minds ;) I would put the feathers on something large like the size of a plate. That way they don't lean back. Maybe you could cover one of those Chinet plates in fabric or something, staple the feathers on the other side along with a 'belt' of the fabric and put it around her waist. I know convaluted but, it is the only thing I can think of.

I totally forgot about Michael's! Thanks for the reminder!! I also remembered that our local game ranch has a beautiful peacock and that they sell the feathers in the gift shop -- gotta call them tomorrow!

This is actually what my husband was telling me to do tonight. Although, he said a piece of cardboard but I think a Chinet plate would probably do the trick! Not convaluted at all -- I think GENIUS! My hubby is amazingly smart and great minds think alike!

Here are some photos of DD2 in her Halloween twirl skirt. I didn't know what I was doing, but it pretty much looks like a skirt so I didn't mess up too badly! No one had enough orange ric rac (7 yards!) so I had to go with the green. Don't laugh at the shirt. The Mickey head is pinned and taped on for the photo because I can't applique until I get my other sewing machine fixed.

Very cute! I love all the Halloween patchwork skirts.

I need to get pics of my Halloween stuff taken. I have them finished, just forgot to take pics when the girls wore them Friday.

Hmmm...I need help! First, I can't decide if I want to change DD out of her "park" clothes & into her princess dresses for her princess meals. I am wondering, where can I change her before the meals? We are having dinner at Akershus on Sunday & Lunch in the Castle on Wed. Are there restrooms nearby? I know it will be too hot to wear those dresses all day so iwas hoping to change her for the pics. Any advice?

I don't remember at the castle, but there is a restroom right in Akershus. I changed my daughter in there after our breakfast ADR last year.

Ok real quick are what I made for our day at Epcot.

DH has 2 days of business meetings so our first Park day will be Sunday!:wizard:

TJ- I'm so sorry to hear that. Maybe it was a pissed off deer, you know- retaliation. My cousins room was broken into once- both windows were broken and stuff was knocked over- She and her mom were down here for a long weekend...and her girlfriend kept telling the cops nothing was missing. Finally one of the cops spotted deer hair on the broken edge of the window- it had jumped through one window, got stuck in her room and jumped out the other:rotfl: :rotfl: it wasn't probably really funny but the cops were asking questions like did her parents have any enemies or did she talk to ppl she didn't know online etc... and it turned out to be a deer- at that point it was pretty funny.
I'm sure that isn't the case here, unless the deer was planning on going fishing maybe...It just reminded me of that.

On to more useful info. I know in FL. your Auto ins. co. has to fully pay to have your windshield replaced up to once a year, so unless they have already replaced your windshield for you there is a good possibility it will be covered. You can keep your fingers crossed at least. The bigger loss will probably be the stolen contents, since you carry minimum coverage (don't we all??) When my stereo/cd player was stolen from my car (they had to remove the whole dashboard to get it!!) I had to replace it myself- luckily that $300 went toward my $1000 deductible so if $700 worth of more stuff got stolen or damaged I could start claiming!!
I am really sorry this happened to you and hope that everything works out. I'm just glad your husband was not there- you never know what crazy or desperate people will do.
I hope your day gets better!
...t.
Well, you made me laugh, so that made my day better! He was hunting squirrel though, so maybe it was a gang of squirrels!

I will check with our insurance company tomorrow to see if it's covered. My husband is upset because his favorite fishing pole was stollen.

I just love that outfit! It's so pretty! There is a pattern similar to the top in the bookmarks, I belive it's called apron top.
