We are Cheer Center StarsWhat gym were you at in Pickerington? Matrix!? You are not kidding about needing a lot of time to coach a great team. I think our coach would be better of to live there. Not only does he coach; he teaches classes and does several privates (including ours) every week.
I just learned about X outsI thought I would get a break after fulls. She is so determined to get all of these skills it just amazes me. At the beginning of last season she fell at tryouts doing her back handspring. Now she does multiple handsprings, tucks, standing tucks, layouts, front walkovers and is really close to her full. She is a beautiful tumbler, she has so much power she kind of soars in the air while she flips. Her layout is my favorite to watch for some reason. Her coach said it is as close to a perfect layout as she can get.
I thought it looked like Cheer Center--I have known the owner since awhile before she started that gym.
I coached at Pickerington High School right before it split. Then I moved up to Northeast Ohio and was there for quite a few years before I had my boys. We won 2 National titles while there in Varsity Division.
If your daughter floats that much while tumbling, you really should see her do/try a layout stepout. They are the MOST gorgeous when done by one who can float in the air for awhile. It always takes my breath away when done by one who can have "air time". X-outs are just awesome to see--they look powerful and artsy.
Of course a full is always something to strive for and just wonderful to see as well. The control--and, just wait till she gets her full and she is working on a double!!!
If she has come that far in such little time, then she has a gift, that is for sure!!!!
When I judge cheer competitions, I love to see the great gymnasts--they are such awesome athletes. Cheerleading was my passion (kind of still is) for many many years, but my 3 boys need and deserve all of my attention right now. I just can't put in the time that I want to coach a successful team, as you know. It is more than a full time job, esp when coaching competitive cheerleaders in a High School, for they have to do all the games and school activities as well.....ah well, maybe some day I will return. For now, I will just keep judging some competitions here and there and watch.
Good Luck to your daughter's team!!! And, your daughter--you'll have to keep us updated on her progress.
