OMG!! I APPLIQUED!! I think the ruffle on this outfit took me longer than the applique! (Yes, I had ruffle problems!!) Too late for a model...

Now I know everyone is asking "Why the @!* did she do a 4th of July applique in September?!" DD has Constitution day tomorrow at school and everyone was asked to wear red, white, and blue! Don't look too close, the stitches are a bit wonky, but not too bad for my first try. I was more afraid of cutting open the jeans than of the actual appliqueing!

I really like this. I have a niece named Liberty. It would be cute to make something like this for her. But, as you said, I'm too afraid to cut open the jeans. I have yet to try appliqueing on them.

Just stopping in for a minute before we head to Animal Kingdon today. We are having a great time! I am going to try and pop in a bit tonight too - may as well since we paid the $10 for 24 hours ;) .

Wow! Everyone's latest creations are amazing!

I have been in super sewing mode! The piles of thread and scraps on the floor are knee deep!

Yikes! Only 9 days 'til Disney!
Parts of me can't wait, but the pile of fabric with the intended outfits is scary!:scared1: If I can't get it all done, there is always next trip!:rolleyes1

I did get our Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum costumes made, as well as DD's Alice costume! They all turned out pretty good! I will have to post pictures later of all the completed outfits!:thumbsup2

Everyone keep up the AWESOME WORK!

Your designs and sewing wisdom are what keep me going on!

I think a tier of the stripe would be cute or you could even make the tiers patchwork.

Do you think you could insert a zipper in one side seam? That might make it so you could at least put the top on. :-)

LOVE MM fabric! Even better is that they have so many great prints that work well together.

BTW - I have the same reaction sometimes when I make pants out of a print especially with an elastic waist. They definitely look so much cuter as a complete set, though. I also can't help but think "clown costume" when I start putting ruffles on pants or sleeves. I made this outfit for Zoe and loved her in it but it still made me think "flamenco dancer clown". :rotfl2:

th_batik6.jpg

I have never tried a zipper, I guess they can't be that bad since they put them in patterns marked "easy!"

Yes, I think the MM fabric has two lifelong fans: Megan and me! You don't think patches of the flowers, stripes and maybe pink would be too busy?

Megan loves Zoe's outfit! It came out beautifully: I think more flamenco dancer beautiful girl rather than clown: Megan says the fabric is "beyooootiful." That's a lot of ruffles!

Wow, I started with a simple Mickey head: that is amazing! It came out great and I bet she'll have a great day at school!

I want to try those elastic shoulder straps. They look so cute!

OK, I cant believe that was your first try at an applique! Fantastic!!! (and thanks for saying that about the jeans. I have a pair I was going to try to do that with and the thought never occurred to me that I would have to do that first! I can see it now....hours spent on the applique just to find the pant legs sewn together!:rotfl:)

So cute! Those pictures got me so excted for our trip!! Only 4 more sleeps!!!

I am having so much fun looking at everyone's creations, though! I'm *almost* inspired to give sewing a shot, but then I remember the words of my high school sewing teacher..... "Aimee, if you promise not to touch the sewing machine again for the rest of the semester, I will give you an A in this class." :rotfl2:

:lmao: :rotfl: I was pretty awful too, but I wasnt making anything I cared about. This stuff is so fun that I am really trying harder than I know I would have been back then. You never know! I have only been sewing now 3 weeks or so!

My mom always says the same thing. "Those look cute, Deann, but she looks like a clown" :rotfl: If I doesn't have ruffles, she loves it!

That looks super for your first try! Wow! She's going to be the coolest kid in school today! I was afraid of cutting the jeans open too!

OMG You guys look so happy! I love seeing these pics, it makes my all warm inside and more excited about our trip! 74 days!! :cool1:

I have been in super sewing mode! The piles of thread and scraps on the floor are knee deep!

We knew you were!!! Now, get busy so you can post pics of those awesome outfits that we love to CASE!!! ;)

I bought these at the Disney Store in the spring on clearance with the assumption that they were winter dresses. I thought they would be cute for dd2 & dgd2 to wear to wdw. Now dd16 says they look like nightgowns. Anyone know for sure? They don't say "sleepwear" on the tag or anything. I don't want them walking around the parks with people staring and thinking I'm an idiot for bringing them in their jammies :confused3

ETA: If they are nightgowns, that's fine, they'll be comfy to sleep in too!

WOW you ladies are amazing!! I spent the last few days going through this ginormous thread, and I'm amazed at the talent here! I can't sew to save my life, so I have to buy all our custom outfits. We are going to Disney at the end of December, and I need to get our outfits together! If anyone knows of a great seller who makes boy outfits, please PM me!! I am so envious of those of you who have girls - there is so much fabulous stuff out there for them! I have two boys, and boy stuff is much harder to come by.

Guess What???

I am an Aimee too! There are two of us. :rotfl2:

They are dresses. At least they were hangning with the clothes not the jammies when they came out. I thought they were cute too but they ran out of my dd's size when they went on clearance.

They are dresses. DD4 is wearing the one on the right, right now! It's very cold this morning in PA.

I finished the dress I wanted to make for DD for Ohanas....I love it  A special thanks to teresajoy for sending me this Lilo fabric! You were so nice to do that for me!!!!

I LOVE it!!! My wonderful sister also gave me some of this fabric, but I haven't figured out what I want to make with it yet. I love the ric-rack!

VERY cute!

I love the korkers, I've baked some, but not done anything with them yet. Only here would that not sound strange!
Where I'm from, we use that phrase perty near every day!:rotfl:

So, my DH asked if he could go to JoAnn's with me yesterday... He wanted to pick out a pattern and fabric so that he can make our DD (due mid-December) a dress!! He is so excited about her arrival that he told me he wants to be a part of everything... including sewing for her.
WOW!! I'm trying to picture my DH doing something like that and I just can't! That is SO sweet!

Thanks for modeling it for us! You look very nice and I like the outfit! I'm thinking if Stephres is going to try to make this again, make it extra big in the back and shirr away!

Aurora is now officially "pizzed" me off! I shouldn't sew tired! I make stooopid mistakes like not sewing right sides together with a super teeny stitch length to have to seam rip out (twice!!!). I had to walk away from the sewing machine so as to not lose my temper. :rolleyes1 I'm in a time out as we speak. :hourglass
UGH!!! The mistakes always come when you're using super-teeny stitches!!

It turned out really cute, great job!!

If anyone wants her id pm me, she's on etsy too - I'll try to find it!

This is the outfit that DD picked out on voldemort for me to CASE for her. It looks so cute on your DD.

Hey, I bought some fabric at the quilt shop and a pattern for something for Megan:

th_100_1796.jpg

The completed top that was posted looks like there is a small strip under the bodice. I think that would be just enough of the stripe to tie it in. Can't wait to see the completed project.

That is so cute on you!

Wow! That's a tough project for your first try. You did a wonderful job! I bet your DD will be a big hit at school in that outfit.

Looks like you are having a fantastic trip!   My favorite pictures of the customs are the ones from the parks!

Well, we are back and very sad to have had to leave Disney. :lmao: The kids had the best time and that's what's important. Here's just a few pics.

Yeah! We are so excited, I just scored front row tickets to the Doodlebops in Nashville in March!

We saw them at Disney, and could not believe how into it my DD3 got, so I told my hubby yesterday afternoon, if they come to town again, we should go. Low and behold I check my e-mail last night and I have a e-mail from the Doodlebops with an early code! Front Row!! :woohoo: Now must make a new custom! I've been going through her coloring book.

Has anyone done anything with them? Please share if you have.
