Everyone looks like the are having a blast! I had to laugh at your son's water bottle. As I sit and type in MD it is 47 degrees. I am so jealous. :cutie:

It finally cooled down a BIT today. It has been in the 90's with super high humidity. We are having a blast though. My kiddos are so tired - even at age 7 they fell asleep on the bus this afternoon!

hi -

i saw a ruffler foot today at joannes - now, what is a gathering foot - it wouldnt do the same thing, right????

thanks, wendy

I don't know if they're one in the same, but a ruffler foot gathers. But a gathering foot doesn't ruffle, I think.

Thanks for all the sweet comments on our pics. DD lost her front tooth during the Nemo show today at Animal Kingdom! We are heading down to the pool now for a swim - at least Dh and the kids are - I am doing laundry!! I did browse some of the recent pics - CUTE! Talk to you all soon!
Lori

That looks great! Did you make it?

Shockingly I did make it. If you could see it up close you would be able to see the imperfections in the applique, but for a 3 y/o for Halloween it works. I have trouble with the small curves. Anyone have any advice for that.

Thats where I run into trouble too. :)

My new machine has arrived and I LOVE IT!!!
Its so fun. I am still learning all the features but I did try out a single color embroidery last night and I can't wait to do more.
So, today I finally got around to some sewing and did my first skirt - for DD1.
Its a simple circle skirt. I am pleased with it but I want to add something....thinking a ruffle that I already have.
We will see if I have enough.

I will try to posts pics later. I have a preschool board meeting tonight, that I need to get ready for. Ugh. I would rather sew.
I really need to make a diaper cover to match the skirt ;)

I don't know if I've seen anything made yet around here, but I know that my mom (Nana), just bought designs for her embroidery machine that are the Doodlebops!! They were super cute!

Slight correction here....I paid a lady to digitize the images I sent her of the Doodlebops. I am in the process of designing a Deedee dress and am going to put embroider the Deedee design on the bodice and possibly for boys do a long pant Jon Jon with all the Doodlebops on the legs or something. Haven't quite figured out the boys outfit yet. Nana

lol - oh my - they sure looked differenty - the ruffler looked like a contraption, and the gatherer looked like a little snap on thingy - hey, whats the difference between a gather and a ruffle anyway? lol :rotfl:

I have both. The gathering foot (the snap on foot) does gather fabric a bit but not nearly enough for a ruffle IMO. I haven't really used it yet because my tests were disappointing. I'm sure there's a use for it but I haven't really figured one out. The ruffler (contraption) is what I use to get the really full ruffles. It doesn't really gather so much as make lots of tiny tucks/pleats. It can make more definite pleats but I prefer the smallest possible because it looks more like gathering. It has definitely made things easier when I make full twirl skirts. In fact recently I was able to get 3 very full skirts completed in a day... although it was a very long day. LOL

I hope that helps understand the difference. :)

Just stopping in for a minute before we head to Animal Kingdon today. We are having a great time! I am going to try and pop in a bit tonight too - may as well since we paid the $10 for 24 hours ;) .

I go away for on weekend and come back to way too many post to comment on great job everyone. And that's for all the comments on dd6 mermaid dress. Keep up the great work hopefully I finish one of the twins tinkerbell halloween costumes this week.

I've been camping all weekend, so I'm trying to catch up here!

No suggestions, although, I'm sure you have gotten pleanty of help allready! But, I did want to say that I thought the outfit and your daughter were adorable!!!
Always go to TeresaJoy's bookmarks if you are trying to find a link to something here!   Here is her site:

I saw a section all about autograph books. Good luck! :thumbsup2

Thanks! I also added links to the Passports to Epcot.

Wow look at that....70 more pages till we get to 1000! Keep going ladies and gentlemen!

I finished the dress I wanted to make for DD for Ohanas....I love it  A special thanks to teresajoy for sending me this Lilo fabric! You were so nice to do that for me!!!!

And of course I have a million projects left to do and my needle broke as I finished the last few sttches on this! I have to run out now to get a new one. Ugh.

I LOOOOVE it!!!! I adore ricrac!!! Your daughter looks so beautiful! It was no problem to send, we are all about helping each other out on this thread!

This may be a really silly question but.....:confused3
I am considering buying an embroidery machine....nothing too crazy expensive...but something I could do some embroidery with. (OK maybe a lot once I am hooked :rotfl: )
I noticed websites where you can download designs etc. So here's my two Q's:

1. Can these downloads be added to any machine? And how?

2. Any machine suggestions????

:flower3: Thanks everyone!!! :goodvibes

Hey TJ- How was camping??? The closest I will ever get camping is when my Dh and kids cooked out at the park. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Although, Dh and I love offroading in his Jeep. My parents were big campers. We had a VW bus and camped at the beach so it was a little different.

If I was forced to go camping I would make my girls customs.:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I hope you had a great time!

Not that you want or need a Viking but . . . I know the big Jo Ann's near us has a Viking shop. They would be a great place to go and collect info. Then you can shop around with the info you received from Viking. Good luck finding your perfect machine. I know the Wally's Disney is around $400. I do not have that one but I know it has mixed reviews.

Whenever I get my girls names monogramed it is $8 each at the tote bag kiosk at the mall.

:goodvibes Thanks for all the great compliments. For those who are wondering, my stroller is a Kolcraft Contours Tandem and I LOVE it! It's huge and not for the minimalist mom, lol, but it's the best double I've owned.

I felt this way about camping too, but was totally pressured by DH and the two boys, so we bought a puull behind camper. I did it kicking and screaming, but was surrounded by men!! It was so much fun, we traded it in on a HUGE 31 foot with slideouts and everything. Honestly it was probably the nicest vacationing we have ever done as a family, and camping at DISNEY is the best!! My DH would cook every meal, and grocery shop, and do laundry, it was amazing...he just "took over" We sold it when we had DD, but we all miss it. We just don't have all weekends off due to kids and sports now, or I think we would still do it. People used to make fun of us, but when I explained the tub, central heat and air, microwave, seperate bed room, well we had the best laugh. It is my DH and my dream to travel across country with the kids maybe for 6 weeks two summers from now. you never know with teenagers though! We do plan on doing it and seeing the country when DD graduates from college. Our goal is to live in each state at least a week. I would definately take my sewing machine!

I've been camping all weekend, so I'm trying to catch up here!

In my best Napoleon Dynamite voice "Luckyyyyyy" ;) I've not been camping since May 2005 and I was 8mo pregnant! Our camper needs so much work, and I refuse to let dh spend anything on it until our trip is paid for... and the girls' customs, of course!

I have a question...

My DD has a pair of overalls with the snap crotch, she can unsnap them in about three seconds after getting them on. Is it possible (and how would I do it) to use the machine and sew the crotch closed or would I be better off whip stitching them shut? (Not that I really have time to do either, we leave really early Thursday morning and I still have a couple things I'd like to get finished.)

2nd try on the AG doll picture, sorry it's so big.

th_100_0296.jpg
That is adorable!
I finally got another outfit finished. Now I only have...I don't think I can count that high...to go.

I took a too short pair of dd4's corduroy pants & cut them to shorts length. Then I added the skirt to them. Originally, this was just going to be a skirt, but then I got all inspired & it turned into a whole outfit. Of course, I had the skirt finished & had to go back & add the green ruffles to it so the shirt matched.

That is SO cute!!! I love those fabrics together! You did a fantastic job!
now that one of my fellow disers clued me in...ill post another pic. this is a tshirt dress i made emma for western sunday @ church. my tshirt pulled too (like a pp mentioned) so i too added a last minute sash! not great, but she loves it! sorry the pics are so huge...dont expect miracles, i just learned how to post em, next weeks lesson is how to resize!

OOH! That is cute!!! And, it gives me an idea. It just occured to me that I should make outfits to wear to Whispering Canyons Cafe, and I have some cow print in my stash! Thanks for the inspiration!
Well, here is the complete tinkerbell outfit that I gave to my neice. (It has a peasant shirt too but it was too warm for her to wear it!) I made the korkers too. Not sure you can tell - the jeans have bling fairy dust going down the leg by Tink. She really liked it (can't quite tell from the pictures!!) She wanted to try it on right away, and my SIL had a hard time getting it off her that night!) Of course I decided to make the dres for bitty baby at the last minute!!

th_IMG_1900.jpg

Now all I need to do is make another set for DD!!

She looks adorable in it!!!! Lydia saw the outfit that you made for Bitty Baby, and now she thinks her doll REALLY REALLY REALLY needs a Tinker Bell outfit, and if we find it cheap, could I PRETTY PLEASE make her one??? THANKS!

So, my DH asked if he could go to JoAnn's with me yesterday... He wanted to pick out a pattern and fabric so that he can make our DD (due mid-December) a dress!! He is so excited about her arrival that he told me he wants to be a part of everything... including sewing for her.

We bought Butterick 5439 - I thought it looked like a good one for him to start with (although we will probably leave off the rick-rack the pattern uses). Now all we have to do is find the pink camo fabric he wants. The lady at JoAnn's told us that it has been so popular that they sell out of it almost as soon as it comes in (the last time they got a bolt in, someone bought the whole bolt the first day.) I know I've seen it at a few places recently, so what a wonderful excuse to hit more fabric stores!?!

Now I just need to get him interested in Disney customs and o.k. planning for her first trip.

That is so sweet!!! But, what is this talk about leaving off the ric rac?????????!!!!!!!!!????????????!????????

Well, I finally got caught up and most of the posts I flagged to quote didn't get added. Sorry, I'm not going back through 30+ pages. LOL If I was asked a specific question, please feel free to post again or PM me. I'll try to answer as soon as possible.

I've seen some gorgeous work shown recently, especially some of the applique! Great job all!!!   I also am loving the Animal Kingdom sets I've been seeing. :dance3: I have several animal prints that are begging me to do something with them soon. :lmao:

Sorry I haven't been around much but I'm still working to get caught up on orders after my illness last week. Zoe and I are off to do some shopping for tees to applique and then it's back to work.

Here are a few of my projects from the past week or so:

I also am trying to learn how to sew knits so I can make my own tees as well as other items. Here's a bad photo of Zoe wearing my first attempt. It's not prefect but she loves it so that's what matters.

tee1.jpg

I love the JOJO outfit!!!! That is so cute!
Zoe looks adorable!!!

I normally wear a 12 and I followed the pattern for 36" bust line which is a 14 and as you can see in the picture it is STILL very snug up top. I mean "the girls" are stapped in pretty tight in this thing. :lmao: I have to sort of do a little jig just to get it on :dance3: I hope to drop a few pounds by my trip though.

I love this outfit!! You look great in it!
Hi Steph! Great minds think alike...I love that pattern and bought it for my DD9. I actually used it already to make a red dot top for my friend's daughter. It was a great pattern though I didnt try the capris yet. I love your idea of adding opposite ruffles! Here's what mine came out like:

th_IMGP3938.jpg

It just looks like a bunch of dots in the pic. I used black dot ribbon around the bodice so that marks the top of the bodice. In the pic you see the back and it blends into the front! :confused3

Let me know if you have any pattern issues and I will see if I can help! :goodvibes
Cute outfit!!! I'm pretty sure I bought that pattern for Arminda too!

That is so cute!!!!

I'm *almost* inspired to give sewing a shot, but then I remember the words of my high school sewing teacher..... "Aimee, if you promise not to touch the sewing machine again for the rest of the semester, I will give you an A in this class." :rotfl2:

OH, you shouldn't listen to her!!! Give it another try!!! We are all here for you!

Just stopping in for a minute before we head to Animal Kingdon today. We are having a great time! I am going to try and pop in a bit tonight too - may as well since we paid the $10 for 24 hours ;) .

How sweet of you to post while you are on vacation!!! I just love seeing pictures of people in the parks! Thank you! You guys look so cute!!!!! And, it looks like you are having a blast!

I bought these at the Disney Store in the spring on clearance with the assumption that they were winter dresses. I thought they would be cute for dd2 & dgd2 to wear to wdw. Now dd16 says they look like nightgowns. Anyone know for sure? They don't say "sleepwear" on the tag or anything. I don't want them walking around the parks with people staring and thinking I'm an idiot for bringing them in their jammies :confused3
Matchingdresses.jpg

ETA: If they are nightgowns, that's fine, they'll be comfy to sleep in too!

I would say those are definetely dresses. They don't look like nightgowns to me at all. They are beautiful!

Anyone remember these dresses?

257483079.jpg

Seems like a long time ago. If you don't remember these, a lot of people spruced them up to make them custom. You can see examples on our disboutique photobucket site if you need ideas.

Anyway, I have a PLAIN one (red w/white dots) that is size 4T that I am willing to send to someone that would like to have it. My daughter was going to use it as a top but has decided against it and I don't want it to go to waste. It can be used as a dress or as a top so be creative.

In the spirit of this board, I want to make it clear that I don't want anything in return. I'm even paying for shipping.

So, PM me if you are interested, if I get more than one PM I will draw names at 6pm central time tomorrow. Much love to all! :hippie:
