We wanted to name are youngest Luke also, but we couldn't get past the "Luke I am your Father" thing running in our minds.

Please share which pattern you're using for Luke? I'm going to JoAnn's later today to get some of the .99 patterns & some fabric! We have a "let's pretend" box of costumes to use year round & DS(3) would love a jedi costume & light saber!!!! This is what I made him for Christmas Eve pj swap last year......
StarWarsFigures2.jpg
[/IMG]he's still trying to squeeze into these this year & points to Luke Skywalker & says "that's me Mommy, I look like that guy!"!:rotfl:

where or where did you find this fabric???? my ds would FLIP OUT for this! he too it going as luke skywalker for halloween this year. i usually dress he and dd in pairs. they were snow white and dopey last year, peter pan and tink the year before. so this year he decided he wanted to be luke. because he knows i like the pairs thing, he suggested that emma be yoda and ride on his back!:rotfl: i told him no cause shes almost as big as he is and weighs almost as much too! so then we thought we had her talked into princess leia, but she switched a few weeks ago to her fave standby- cinderella (at least its the rag dress for a change!)

but noah decided to be difficult and request "black jedi luke as he enters jabbas palace". and of course, they dont sell that one at target! so heres what i did (am still doing actually)

*found a $5 darth maul costume that we can used the black pants from (they even already have the "boots" attached)
* bought black long sleeve shirt
* created a black jedi robe from a mccalls costume pattern (you can even use riding hood and just make it longer cause lukes robe had no arms)
* went to website http://www.degraeve.com/jedirobe/ to get some specifics and even made my tshirt appear as a tunic with some criss cross fabric

oh my just realized i was babbling! sorry!

I just wanted to say a quick goodbye. We leave in the morning and will be returning on Tuesday! Have a good weekend everyone and I will have a ton of photos to post when I get back!! Happy Sewing everyone!

I just got our photopass so I'll be able to post some pictures, hopefully tomorrow, my iMac should either be fixed or at the Apple Store tomorrow. There are some really good ones of Delaney's outfits.

Well, no root canal today for me, instead I will be visting the oral surgeon earlier than expected on Monday and those 4 pesky wisdom teeth and the three others that need fixing will all be pulled then. So much for getting caught up on my sewing... I just got some more fabric on my way home. I just have to plan a little more for the outfits for our Nov./Dec. trip. I'm hoping to be able to be up and working by the middle of next week. I'm going to move my sewing machine in here to the bedroom while my hubby keeps our DD out with him, he'll be working from home most of next week.

Labor was interesting. My water broke at 8:30 am, I finally ambled into the hospital around noon, they had been waiting for me, I had been waiting for some contractions. I hadn't really had any. One of the docs from my practice, the impatient one, put me on pitocin when I got there. I went from 2 1/2 - 3 cms to 6 in about 4 hours, then I opted for a little pain relief, I wasn't hurting a whole lot then but the doc coming on for the night was in a c-section, so I said sure, got a little nubain (good stuff by the way) and then decided I was brave enough on that stuff to have an epi. After that I went from 6 almost 7 cm to 10 in about an hour. Since L&D was so busy, I ended up taking a nap and we started pushing around 11:30. After 2 hours, we though I was just tired of pushing and we were going to stick the vacuum on Delaney's head and she'd be out, well little miss' shoulders were stuck, so I ended up with the push team, the pull team and the neonatal team since there was a little meconium in my amniotic fluid. She was finally extracted, without having to have her collar bone broken, and I took the brunt of the damage with a 4th degree tear but I have to say that I have nothing but love for my anestisiologist, I felt only the last two stitches. I was just so happy to have the baby out. It took me a few weeks to realize what sort of trouble we were in, let's just say even light narcotics knock me for a loop. I didn't think anything was too terrible but it sure hurt to sit down for the next 6-8 weeks while that horrible thing healed. I'm still waiting, 3 years later, for my high needs baby to chill out and quiet down, I'm guessing that's just not going to happen now. HA!

My delivery sounds far worse than it actually was when it happened. Better living through chemistry!

I need to find some more disney Christmas fabric, everything I've seen at Joann's is blue, I was hoping to find something in red or green. I also want to make a nice pair of embellished overalls, I have to practice some more applique so I feel more confident. I have a beautiful pair of dark red velvet overalls, I want to add cuffs to the bottom of the legs and then add cuffs to a long sleeve tee for DD to wear when she sees Santa at DTD.

I still haven't made DD's Mickey Halloween twirly top. I'm going to probably have to put that off until next year, I'll probably move onto her Thanksgiving outfit and the Christmas stuff for our trip.

I just hope my mac gets fixed tomorrow, I really need all my trip information off of it. I wish I had gotten that printed before DH took the machine with him to work.

I've got to go figure out what we're eating for dinner tonight. Then I'll be getting things ready all weekend for DH and DD to eat that he can just heat up. I'll be eating soup, jello, and mashed potatoes for the next week I'm sure.

I just wanted to say a quick goodbye. We leave in the morning and will be returning on Tuesday! Have a good weekend everyone and I will have a ton of photos to post when I get back!! Happy Sewing everyone!

Happy Trip! We can't wait to see the pics! :goodvibes

So those are my labor stories. I never tell them to first time moms though.

Thanks for sharing with us though! I could talk about weddings and babies and labor and Disney all day!

Yesterday photobucket wasn't working for me. I was going to post a photo of my DS in his Peter Pan Costume at Cinderella's Royal Table. DD is in a Snow White Dress I made.

I think things are working now.

th_Snowwhiteaurorapeterpan.jpg

He loved wearing that costume so much. Now he has outgrown it and I have to make another.

Aww, that's cute!!! I'm thinking Saywer really needs a little costume for our trip in may!

I guess now you're gonna want a real siggy line, huh?

YEPPER!!!!

:cheer2: Come on karebear, you can do it, put a little power to it!! :cheer2:

PFFFT!!!! :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl: My sister the cheerleader!

When the baby wants to come it comes it does not wait for the dr. get out of surgery!!! DS was 7 lbs. 8oz. and DD was 7 lbs. 11oz.
Ok sorry that it is so long.....
We like long here! Well, I do anyways! I just love all the stories and sharing that we do here!
my happy go lucky Dr suddenly had fear in his eyes. I was given oxygen, and my DS's hand was delivering with his head and he had to push it back in, then his shoulders got stuck and the nurses had to start pushing on my stomach to get the baby out ASAP. My DS came out with assistance and then he had the cord very tightly wrapped around his neck. He was blue and not crying. NICU came rushing in and it was 2 very long minutes until he cried. I was so scared but everything turned out ok and he weighed in at 9lbs(thank God he wasn't delivered two weeks later!) and had a broken collar bone from being stuck.

I have chills just reading that! I can't imagine what you were going through right then! So scary! I'm glad he's ok though!

Labor story -

The anethestioligst says it's just taking longer to work. My doctor pokes me and asks, can you feel that? Uh, yeah!! So he draws a line across my belly - "how about that?" Well, I can feel it on the left side! Yep the spinal only numbed half my body!! My Dr. gave me the choice - reposition the spinal and risk having a "spinal headache" afterwards or get knocked out. I must have looked at him funny because he says "We'll just put you under." That's pretty much the last thing I remember. Poor Dh was in my room waiting to be brought back - he was told it would only be a few minutes. I'm not sure when he was told - everything's still a little hazy!! DD was in the nursery for the first 2 days with respitory problems. I didn't even get a chance to see her until 11:00 that night!!

With DS I choose to have another c-section. At about 8 months I asked my doctor if he was breech or if he had turned - he was breech in my ultrasound. She says he's not breech - I can feel his head here, and this is rump up here. Fast forward to his delivery...Oh my, she says he's breech! "I told you so!!" BTW - I was only numb on half my body again, bu they were prepared this time. They said I am resistant to the spinal!!

I'm glad they figured out you were only half numb BEFORE they did anything!
When I had Lydia (planned c-section) the anestheshia worked really fast, and I felt like I couldn't breathe, my ears started ringing, and I thought I might be dying. It was pretty scary. They said something about my blood pressure dropping because the anesthesia had kicked in so quickly.

Sound like it's all coming together! I bookmarked that site too! Thanks!

Bye Lisa!! Have fun, I can't wait to see pictures!

Aww, how are you feeling? I know you said that tooth was really bothering you.

I like that, better living through chemistry! Your labor sounds pretty bad though, even with chemistry!

If there was a drooling smiley, it would be right here----> I LOVE the fabrics in this jacket! The Lady and the Tramp, Jungle Book, and Dumbo ones are my favorites!

Here you go

OK, we had the coolest day today. The Doodlebops are going to be at Altell Arena tomorrow, but we aren't getting to go. I haven't even told dd4 about it. Well, I heard the end of a commercial a couple of days ago about them signing autographs at a Wal-Mart somewhere in town. So I called today to find out when & where & it all worked out so we got to go meet them. DD4 just had this absolutely amazed look on her face when I told her what we were going to do & sdhe gave me the biggest hug ever! When we got there & she could finally see them in front of us, she just grinned & giggled like you wouldn't believe. She was so excited! They signed her cd liner notes & talked to her & gave her high 5's. She wore her Minnie dot top & since it's finally decided to be fall around here & had her wear her black long sleeved top under it. DeeDee told her she looked just like Minnie Mouse. I think that made dd's day as much as anything else. I've got a few pics, I just need to get them uploaded.

LOL!! Thanks for the drooling smiley!!

where or where did you find this fabric???? my ds would FLIP OUT for this!!

At JoAnn's December 2006. :teeth: I was there today to get new Star Wars fabric, looked high & low....none this year. I'll have to take a look at Hancock next week, I guess. I'm not sure I'll be able to find the exact stuff this year, but he definitely want Star Wars pjs. (This pair won't be for the Christmas Eve pj exchange)

he suggested that emma be yoda and ride on his back!:rotfl: i told him no cause shes almost as big as he is and weighs almost as much too!
:yoda: :lmao: :lmao: :rotfl:

I bookmarked the jedi robe too!:) JoAnn's had .99 patterns, so I picked up McCalls 5840...but I think it'll be too big for DS(3) & it looks complicated. I never thought about using even a red riding hood cape, great idea! As long as it has a hood, that's all DS wants-so he can swoosh it back & fight with his light saber!:darth: :rotfl:

I know I already told about my labor, but after reading everyone's, I want to add.

DD#1 - My water broke AT WORK around 2:00 PM, which was actually fun. My girlfriends took me home to get my stuff and then to the hospital. I was given pitocin since the contractions hadn't started. My blood pressure was sky high so I had to lay down on my left side. I received Stadol (yuck!) and then finally an epidural around 6:00 AM. DD was born at 12:03 PM. 6 lbs. 18 in. The cord was wrapped around her neck twice and she was given oxygen. She cried a few seconds later. Her birthday is 02/20/2002. I always liked her date.

DD#2 - I was having a dream that my water broke late Sunday night and when I called my mom, she was disappointed that it was Sunday. She wanted me to go into labor over the weekend. I woke up from the dream when my water broke and it was late Sunday night! Weird! Went to the hospital and there were no beds. I waited until around 7:30 AM and then finally got a bed. I was given Stadol (yuck!) and asked for an epidural. By the time they got around to getting me one, I was already a 9 and it was too late. My first thought was, "Oh, my! This is gonna hurt!" At one point, the doctor told me that I should put as much energy into pushing as I did at screaming. :rotfl: They had to use a vaccuum to get her out. Now that HURT! Remember - no epidural. She was born at 9:43 AM. 5 lbs. 10 oz. 19 in.

Ds - I was having contractions and had a doctor's appt at 10:15 AM. I was seeing the midwife and was wondering if she would send me to the hospital. She sent me home and told me to take a warm bath. I debated about going to WalMart to get a few last minute things, but I was pretty uncomfortable so went home and took a bath. That didn't help the contractions. I called DH at work around 11:30 and told him to come home. We arrived at the hospital about 12:10 and the first thing I said was that I wanted an epidural. There was NO WAY I wanted to go thru another labor like DD#2. The nurses tried giving me Stadol. I said No, give me an epidural. Well, I didn't get anything. DS decided to come. I was at the hospital about 1/2 hour. DS was born at 12:46 PM. 7 lbs. 7 oz. and 20 in. Funnily, the midwife who sent me home 2 hours prior was the one who delivered him. I always wondered if she thought she should have sent me to the hospital. Good thing I didn't go to WalMart!

WOW!!!! Are you the one who put out the request for little pieces of Disney fabric a while back? (I can't "bemember"). Please do a tutorial so we can all CASE (or CAB in my case) you! I love LOVE LOVE it! Maybe I'll do a princess themed one since I have a Boatload of different princess fabrics.

That wasn't me. But it's a good idea!! Very easy to make. I took a sweatshirt, a size larger then you wear, cut it apart. You don't need squares, just different sizes and put them in any sort of angle you want. Zig Zag them down. When your done, do a freehand stitching all over it. It's a quilter foot. Put the sweatshirt back together. Cut down the front of the shirt, round off the corners. I made my own bias tape and edged it. I got it from a pattern at the quilt store, but I think the same woman has it on a Butterick pattern. 4056.

hi -

i saw star wars flannel at joann's the other night - i think it was blue with star wars words - maybe yoda too???? something like that - so maby you could make jammies out of that?

wendy

My L/D stories aren't quite as dramatic as all of yours but here you go:

I was on bed rest with 1st DD for toxemia. At 37 1/2 wk check up she was head down ready to go. At 38 1/2 weeks she had somehow flipped herself and was in a pike position breech. The dr tried to turn her but no luck. Had a c-section but since she was pike position she was not budging, so 2 drs had to get and push on my belly to get her out. I didn't feel a thing during delivery but for the next 24 hrs I was throwing up constantly. Then the Pharmacy couldn't find our insurance info at 10 pm at night and didn't want to give my husband my pain meds, he came home empty handed. You can bet I sent him right back to get some and not to come home if he didn't.

2nd DD - I went into labor driving home from dinner on our way to open Christmas presents with family in town before Christmas. My DH kept complaining he had to go to the bathroom. He didn't quite grasp that I was in labor. We opened a few presents and then went in at about 9:30 pm. They gave me pitocin and broke my water to speed things along. My poor dr was also pg and due in a month and she was on call. DD was born at 5:59 am at 9 lbs 1/2 oz. Wonder epidural I didn't feel a thing, pushed for about 10 minutes and had a very small episiotomy.

DS was by far the easiest. My water broke at 1:30 am. I went in and they just let everything progress itself. Started labor at 3:30 am got my wonderful epidural and delivered DS at 9:00 am. The only problem was that there was a shift change and no one was checking my progress so I had to tell them that he was ready to come. They couldn't get the dr on call to answer the page (he is no longer with the group and is now doing lipodisolve) so the midwife came. DS was 7 lbs 11 oz (3 wks early). I pushed for about 15 mins and had no episiotomy.

So for all those reading that may not have kids or only 1 childbirth is not always scary or painful.

Wow, you're right, that does sound easy to make. Of course SOUNDS easy and IS easy are two very different things. But I may try this some day.

I am officially turning into the daughter my Mother always wanted!:scared1:

Yes, I know how to crochet too! Geez, I am such a girl!

All this talk about fur cuffs got me thinking!

You all are a bunch of ENABLERS!!

Princess Leigh thinks she's a "model"! Good thing you can't see her legs in these photos!:rotfl:

If it makes you feel better my FIL just made his own tie for his halloween costume.. We are doing a 1920's theme and the guys are being gangsters and he said to my MIL what was he gonna do for a tie, she said she had some of her dress fabric left and they could match and low and behold he went and got an old tie (didn't even tear it down) and made his own tie. He is the most NON girly guy I've ever met, so there is still hope for you.;)

I'd like to jump in w/ Castlecreations and say farewell, we leave tomorrow. I am still having issues w/ the dress, the corset bodice was too small, the straps were too far apart and the gathering thread on my double ruffle keeps breaking.. so I have to go try to get this finished, w/ any luck I will post pics tomorrow or once we get out there.

Have a great week, I'll be back w/ pics and stories next weekend.

...t.

Cindy B Good- I was wondering what is a pj exchange??

So glad everyone made it through their L/D - I think it is Best not to tell those 1st time preggo moms all the details- it might scare them to much!!! :rotfl2:
Busy day tomorrow got meetings then off to my grammies to get my costume done- I'll get pictures posted soon as I can!!!
Wish me luck-

You know I always say goodbye too soon...

I SWEAR we are SO not going to WDW!!!! Everyone is tired and cranky and STRESSED out. My inlaws, my hubby...if I have to stay in a 2 BR villa for 7 days with all of them I am going to to be miserable!!! GRRRR, why is it I am the only one who can ever just pull up my big girl pants and deal w/ situations when they arise? My MIL's all " I didn't go to sleep until 1 last night" Yeah, I haven't gone to sleep until 1 every flippin' night this week- I went to bed at 4:30 2 nights ago.. But I'm not B*&^%iING at everyone else am I??? All I did was ask DH if something he packed was necessary as it was a large item and got my head bit off!!! I am seriously considering calling the whole thing off!!!

Okay venting over, please return to your previously scheduled program.
