I used that red and white striped fabric from Wal-mart in these skirts I made my girls:

th_DSCN2579.jpg

Yep, that's the stuff! I love that skirt too! I think I might have to CASE that eventually for our trip in February.

I am venting right now though. I just need to applique two shirts for my girls and I have been trying to do it for 3 days now! Thursday night was exhausting, yesterday I thought I would get it done while they were at school but after I got done cutting it out, wonder-undering and stabilizing the shirts, I sat down to sew them on and the white thread I thought I had turned out to be that nasty transparent thread that I hate! By that time I didn't have enough time to get to Wal-Mart before school was over so I picked up the girls. Of course we have gymnastics right after so we went there and had to come straight home b/c DD2 didn't nap at school and was begging for a nap at gymnastics. DH was playing golf (are you kidding me?) so I had no one to watch the girls so I could run to Wally World and it didn't get done yesterday either. Today, I get to Wal-Mart and buy my thread, biast tape for peasant tops, etc. Yeah! I just sat down to do the shirts and I accidentally bought hand quilting thread and it is too thick! I'm going a little crazy. Thank God Dh is a saint and he is running to Wal-Mart for me (I already have my PJ's on) so now I'm waiting and venting to you guys! I'm starting to feel a little cursed now!

Okay, I'm going to play wedding pic now. Here's ours. I was 21, dh 25, and we got married on the shore of Lake Tahoe. It was beautiful. I just wish I still looked like that but 3 1/2 kids has added 50 pounds (OMG) destroyed my body!

Sorry it's huge!!!!!!!!!

Here ya go:

prince002.jpg

I just wanted to add that I love these Prince Charming outfits. You did a great job on it. Unfortunately, I do not have the time or talent to make the boutique clothing. I do purchase from a very small group of designers that I found via Ebay though. My son wore this Prince Charming suit to the MNSSHP and to Cinderella's Royal Table for breakfast. He was Prince Charming and my daughters were all 3 Cinderellas. They did the Workdress, Made By Mice Dress, and the Blue Ballgown. It was a blast!!!! http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/bb143/1prince3princesses/PICT29822.jpg http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/bb143/1prince3princesses/PICT29762.jpg

OK, It has been quite some time since I posted a picture. I figured out how to open them....

Okay, I'm not trying to hog posts but.......I know a lot of us scrapbook too. The big chain store in my area (Dallas, TX) is Recollections (owned by Michaels arts and crafts stores) and it is going out of business. I got an email the other night saying that it would be business as usual until January 1 but after that they would begin closing stores. I used to live in Kansas where we had Archivers and I liked them better but now I'm not going to have anything as far as big stores go. The crazy thing about this is that the three locally owned stores that I have bought from in the past have gone out of business (one just 2 weeks ago) b/c they couldn't compete with Recollections. The nearest scrapbook store after they close will be close to an hour away. Very frustrating! I'll still have Joann's and Michaels close by but Ugh! Anyone know anything about this?

I don't know anything about this one, but I am right there with you and all of my local scrapbook stores closing! We had 3 and now have none, I drive 30 minutes or more to get to one unless it is something easy like adhesive and then I hit JoAnns. I also have some favorite websites I frequent. Of course this has helped me use up some of my "collection" :rotfl:

I love it! I think it is long enough without a ruffle. I tend to put ruffles on things because my daughter is so tall and I don't make it long enough in the first place. Your appliqué really looks great! Oh, and I love the shirring in the back, I usually just add a tie because I don't like the way it looks either. Is the shirring hard?

You are very right, Steph! It is the Don CeSar. I fell in LOVE with that place, and cut down my guest list drastically to have my wedding there! We got married the week before Christmas, so it was decorated SO beautifully.

My husband grew up in St. Pete so I heard all about the Don before we even moved down here, but I have never been there, just drove by. That is great that you were able to have your wedding there.

Zoey would also like to say Hi to the puppies!!!!
th_stuffedzoey3.jpg

Awwww, she looks like E.T. with the stuffed animals! So cute!

Awwwww, your dog is so cute. I just lost my beloved Jack Russel, Suzie. She was hit by a car. I tear up every time I see a dog these days. But, I love them, though!

I'm sorry for your loss. We had to put our beagle down this summer and I am still sad about it. If we didn't have Scrappy I think I would have been a lot more mopey about it.

My Oscar (I'm going to have to take a picture of him and show him off too I guess!) was pretty easy potty training after I learned to only give him food and water 3 times a day until he "got it". He has food and water all day now but it really helped him learn and I didn't have to watch him like a hawk! DD4 was 10 months old when we got him and very jealous too! One day he had an accident in the house and I ran and got paper towels to soak it up but didn't grab enough. I ran back to get more and when I came back Grace had picked up the used paper towels and was sucking on them:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: ! I almost started to cry but I kept telling myself, "Urine is sterile, Urine is sterile" like a mantra! Of course DH was out of town as always so no help there! What I do for my silly dog!

Wow, that's brave of you to have a puppy and a baby at the same time! I don't think I could have handled both! Your story is hysterical!

I heard they were all closing down. Luckily I have a LSS close by and I do a lot of shopping at JoAnn's (when I actually scrapbook that is). My Michael's stinks so I rarely go there.

Meghan looks exactly like you!

Thank you! I was telling my husband that our dentist was flirting with me. He told me a couple of times how cute Megan is and then he said, wow, she looks just like you. So therefore, I must be cute too right? Megan is cute=Megan looks just like me ... I must be cute too! :thumbsup2

That is so sweet of Megan to cheer for her brother and want that on her uniform. Her hair is awesome by the way!

I have taken a break from sewing and officially decided Dallas is pretty much too old for most customs. I had some for disney we never even wore because they looked to toddler-ish. Guess I'll go back to making his Sesame Street quilt that he'll be 20 before I finish!

Thanks! I put her in bed with them still in and was disappointed that she woke up this morning braid-free. Oh well!

My eight year old had no interest in me sewing anything for him. He has let me do some board shorts with pirate fabric and animal fabric. And he has let me do pajamas too.

I love both of these! The prince charming outfit is just perfect and love the 3 different Cindy dresses!

Sorry it's huge!!!!!!!!!

I love having a face to go with a name! That picture of the two of you is wonderful!

Ok I am making a 5 year old's tulle dress. My elastic keeps expanding ... is that normal?
Mine did that too. I just loosened the ties and all was well.

This outfit is all done, except the skirt still needs hemmed! It looks like I'll be driving an hour to Hancocks to pick up a stinkin hemming foot! Anyway, as long as you don't look too closely, it looks ok! I shirred the back a little bit, she doesn't like how big peasant tops look on her. Not too bad for my first time, I didn't even practice first!!

Question: Do you think it needs a ruffle to make it longer? Dd doesn't want one, but I'm not sure if it looks too short or not?

CRTSarah3.jpg

Notice the black string on her eye? I didn't notice until after the pics, but it has been clipped!
crtsarahcloseup.jpg

And this one because I thought it was too cute! Her sister thought she needed a crown for her photo shoot!
crtsarahwcrown.jpg

That is Awesome! Could you share how big your daughter is? What pattern did you use? I'm trying to adjust the free pattern in the bookmarks to a size 10/12 and 14 and don't want to waste a lot of fabric.

Didnt someone make an outfit with the black.pink.blue kitty cat fabric from walmart?

I just bought some of it yesterday and wanted to see what the other posted did with it..but of course I cant find it

Just wanted to stop in & say "Hello!"

Is everyone ready for halloween yet?

Right after I got her pirate outfit finished,
my five year old does not want to be a pirate now.

She's decided upon UnderDog.

I figure it'll be easy enough to toss an Underdog outfit together pretty fast. :)
red Tshirt with a white U on it, blue short cape
+ red shorts & tights & tennis shoes ...
a headband with felt ears & perhaps paint on her nose :)

I guess, I'll save the groovy pirate outfit for the little one next year.

Best of Wishes ... L

Thank you! The shirring was super easy, I just wound the elastic thread onto my bobbin, used regular thread on top and stitched lines 1/4" apart. I only did 4 lines. The back worked fine, but when I did the sleeves I had to steam it with an iron and it shrunk up super fast and worked perfect.

My daughter is a size 7/8 and I used the YCMT spiral skirt pattern, the top is Simplicity 3743 .

We eloped and then had a reception about a month later.

Beautiful!!!

Nana made my dress, except for me hand-sewing about 3,000 pearls onto the bodice. If I can find one later, Nana also sewed all the bridesmaids dresses, my MILs dress and the flower girl's dress (then she went out and actually bought her own :lmao:)
Scan006.jpg
I was hoping that you would post your pictures! I remember you said Nana made the dress and I really wanted to see it!!! Nana sounds a lot like my Mom! But, I made my dress, and she made all the other ones! Your dress is stunning! What a gorgeous wedding you guys had!!!
I have my DD CONVINCED that I get to choose who she marries (If I can keep her thinking that for another 16 years I have it made LOL). And I have chosen someone, he is a sweet little boy she knows from China. His family and I get the children together several times a year now that both children are here in Florida. She tells everyone she is going to marry him. Then Jord can go live with them.:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
Cindee
:lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl: YOU are GOOD!!!!

Ok, I was very jealous of everyone's beautiful pictures that I found mine. I was 24 and Tom was 25. I hate sleeves so I wore a short sleeve gown for 30 degree weather in February. My mom thought it would be cute to have all those little trees around, looks kind of Christmasy to me. I was not into planning and beside picking the dress and asking for yellow roses (my grandmother's favorites) she planned the whole thing.

Pregnant with M, sorry it's from a scrapbook page:

You look so pretty pregnant too!

Unless you have a ruffler attachment now, I wouldn't put a ruffle on. I think it looks fine as it is!

I just love this outfit, it is so unique looking! You did a fantastic job! And, your girls are SOOOO cute!!!!

HI Doggie Friends!!

AWWW!!! CUTE!!!!!!
Awwwww, your dog is so cute. I just lost my beloved Jack Russel, Suzie. She was hit by a car. I tear up everytime I see a dog these days. But, I love them, though!

Oh, I'm sorry about Suzie.

Okay, I'm not trying to hog posts but....
Ok, I will believe you! ;)

I found mine at Target if that helps. My Wal Mart does not have them either.
Thanks!!! I didn't think it would be that hard of a thing to find! I will try Target when I get up that way.
I am loving all these wedding photos. DH and I just got married at the courthouse, it was his 2nd time and I wasn't into a big all out planned wedding, we have no family near here and didn't want to do it in another state, but we never even got a picture of us the day we got married. I am still sad to this day about it. I remember thinking that day about it but no one was around to take one!

So I am living through all your photos!

Oh, that's too bad you didn't get any pictures! You should renew your vows and take pictures!

I figure I'll have more time back on this thread though as I love to watch and follow along. Had about 60 pages to read today, we had been gone to Ohio for the last 9 days! So happy to be home again!

I'd like to see you here more!

I am venting right now though. I just need to applique two shirts for my girls and I have been trying to do it for 3 days now! Just looking at this picture, I'm going to say that even at 50 pounds heavier, you still look great! You were a skinny little thing!

I just love your wedding photo! It is stunning! You are so beautiful!!!

OMG! I LOOOOVE the pink Mouse made dress!!!!! I love them all, but that is my VERY FAVORITE!!!! Boy, if I could applique, I would SOOO CASE that!!!!! Hmm, I just may have to learn to applique JUST to make that dress! Your kids are so cute!!!! I think I forgot to quote it, but I love your son as Prince Charming too!

Laura, I've missed you around here!!!! :grouphug: Glad you are posting again!

That is Awesome! Could you share how big your daughter is? What pattern did you use? I'm trying to adjust the free pattern in the bookmarks to a size 10/12 and 14 and don't want to waste a lot of fabric.
For Lydia's Buzz top, I started out using the YCMT pattern, but didn't like the way it flared, so I altered it to not flare, then made it longer. When I was done, I realized I had pretty much just made the one from the bookmarks! The YCMT patten is a little tight under Lydia's arms, so if I make her another peasant top, I will be a little more generous with the cut for the armhole. I made her the 7/8 size from YCMT. I think I would have been better off just trying to measure one of her shirts that fit well to cut out the armholes though. So, what I'm trying to say is that if you use your child's measurments, the free pattern should come out really well. PM me if you want, because I know I wasn't real clear here!

I never got a flyer about it, but today through Sat Joann has McCall's and Simplicity pattersn 99cents, and almost all of the fabric was on sale, a lot fo 50% off....I did get a coupon for 20% off entire purchase including sale items, and so I got a huge discount....the patterns came down to 79cents with that...and got tons of fabric for my stash...I am addicted to buying fabric. Now if only I became addicted to sewing it together!

Susan

PS Mend soon, Nana. That must have been an awful fall!

I have LOVED seeing everyone's wedding and preggo pictures. I can't find any of the preggo ones, but here are a few from our wedding.

Nana made my dress, except for me hand-sewing about 3,000 pearls onto the bodice. If I can find one later, Nana also sewed all the bridesmaids dresses, my MILs dress and the flower girl's dress (then she went out and actually bought her own :lmao:)

One of my best friend's mom's was the same way. She made bridesmaids dresses for all of our weddings except mine & her daughters. For mine she just made her daughter's dress & for her daughter's wedding they bought all the dresses. She had had enough after making dresses for about 5 weddings in just a very few years.

So I FINALLY got my DD's halloween costume finished!!! Well almost, I just have to hem it and close the back with snaps or velcro, I am NOT going to put in a zipper in. This has been the pattern from beeeeeep! I guess that is what I get for telling my DD that she could pick out the pattern.:rotfl2: My model is not home right now but I just have to share this with someone will appreciate all my time and effort, that would not be my DH, he just keeps asking when I am going to be done with it so that we can eat at the table again!:lmao: Any how my pics are done downloading so here is my DD's toothfairy costume.

Oh I tought about lining the teeth with sequins? Any thoughts, I thought at least the one on the bodice?
