I love this fabric and what you did with it! I will have to try a t-shirt dress. I am afraid the weight of the fabric will pull the knit shirt. Do you have that problem?

The tshirt dresses I've made so far have been size 2-4 and have had no problems with stretching yet. The fabric I use is lightweight cotton and I don't think I would try anything heavier.

Monsters Inc Skirt. Here's the skirt I made last night... She loves to pose! She does the "cheese" face too!

And here is an outfit I made for a customer. I made one of the tshirt dresses for dgd2! These are some of my favorites so far! The pics are not great, my camera stinks!!!

I am VERY partial to the Mickey and Mickey Lolipop outfit!!!!!! Your work is amazing! Super quality and well simply:wizard: (magical ) is the word I wanted to use!!

I finally get waayy to many ruffles made, and attached when the needle on the machine falls out!! Sheesh. It is now 11:30 at night and I just have to put the stinkin straps on!!! One more strap end to attach and....the needle breaks!! :headache:

Oh, I hate when needles break but especially so close to the end of a project! I've noticed that my ruffler foot will loosen the needle because of all the jiggling so I try to tightern it as much as I can. I also stock up on needles when JAs has their notions at 50% off.

I was wondering - how many people actually use a pattern they buy and how many people kind of "wing it"???

Aside from pants, I mostly "wing it". I have to admit, though, it can be frustrating when it doesn't come out as envisioned. I don't like most of the patterns available from McCall's, Simplicity, etc. but have heard great things about the Farbenmix and Ottobre Design patterns. I recently ordered an issue of Ottobre Design - which is a magazine that includes a lot of patterns but they have to be traced. I hope it arrives soon because they have such cute designs that I think are perfect for customizing. I'll probably still "wing it" for some things but I'm ready to concede I'm not a pattern maker. ;)

That's what my concern is, too. I haven't made a tshirt dress before but worry if I did one in Zoe's size, the weight of the attached fabric would be heavy and stretch the knit. I thought it would be really cute to make some tunic tops in this style for Zoe to wear with leggings. Maybe the shorter length of the attached fabric would work OK.

I'd love to know the largest size someone has done for a tshirt dress.

So, I have to ask! Where have you guys found the adorable green/purple polka dot fabric to go with the previous Tink and this Monsters outfit??? :confused3

I haven't found it and I haven't been able to find anything that matches the Monsters fabric yet. My youngest DDs favorite characters are Tink and Boo from Monsters, so I found the Monsters fabric on eBay, but I can't find anything that goes with it.

Thanks tons...

I like tee shirt dresses. I am going to try to make some for the winter. I am also going to try to use a button down shirt (not a polo). Something a little dressier. We'll see how it works out!!

I got my needles!! As soon as the kiddos go down for a nap, I am back to tackling the "Outfit from Hell"!! It will not defeat me!! LOL What sucks is that I KNOW I have more needles, I just can't find them!! It's one of those, "I'll put them ___ so I know where to find them later!" I Never remember where I put them!! I did this with a new pair of Stride Rite shoes for DS. I searched for them for weeks. DH finally found them - in my glove box! ***?!? I definately don't remember putting them there! :confused3

(I'm really not that ditzy in real life)

OH, BTW Joann's is having a big sale starting the 20th - 27th. Butterick & Simplicity patterns .99, 50% off thread, christmas fabrics and a whole bunch more!! The flyer also came with 2 50% off any one item coupons!!

I got these fabric's at Walmart

They also had the purple/blue with green dots. They have at least half a dozen dot fabrics that I haven't seen anywhere else.

so my Josephine said "where am I on here"! so I am posting a pic of her in her Safari Outfit for our xmas "surprise" trip!
"Here's JoJo" - I just told her!

Thanks for all of the picture ideas everyone! I got the girls some really cute white shirts at Gap yesterday that have just a tiny bit of beading on them and myself a knit white shirt that has a tiny ruffle at the neck. I guess dh will just wear a white button up. I just hope when I put my jeans on tomorrow that I am not hanging over the top!
We call that a "muffin top" :rotfl2: Wear it with pride!
I am working on the outfit from Hell!! :furious: My bobbin case broke a few weeks ago so I got a new one and "fixed" the problem. Started an outfit this week, twirl top, check, applique jeans, check. Moved on to the ruffle...not so good. When I attached my ruffle foot I stitched a few stitches then... jammed!! I checked the bobin case and the needle had made a hole in it!!! :scared1: And the bobbin case would not stay put!! So I found a repair shop and took it in. Surprisingly he had a replacement bobbin case and realligned the case and viola $30 later I am up and sewing again! So I tackle the ruffle again... this time the ruffler FALLS apart!! All that shaking the ruffler does made some screws come loose!! I finally get waayy to many ruffles made, and attached when the needle on the machine falls out!! Sheesh. It is now 11:30 at night and I just have to put the stinkin straps on!!! One more strap end to attach and....the needle breaks!! :headache: Once this outfit is done, DD is wearing it everyday for the month of November, because of all the trouble it has caused me!! And, I have to make another one for my neice!! I like sewing...I like sewing... I guess I am off to Joann's this morning!!
I feel your pain! I think we've all been there! I suggest chocolate and diet Cherry Pepsi.
Here's dd2's Monsters Inc outfit that she's been wanting. I made a matching skirt last night, but haven't gotten pics yet. I will get it on her before lunch, I promise!!! I used a pair of corduroy's that she already had, I wasn't sure about the decoupage on corduroy, but it works great! I've also started using a nailbrush (for cleaning fingernails) to gently start the fraying of my patches.

TIP for decoupage: If you didn't know this already double stitch your patches!!!!!! The HSM jeans I made for dd8 & dd7 are starting to fall apart! Now I stitch around about 1/4" in from edge, then again about 1/8" inside that. It makes the world of difference!!!

That is smashing! Be prepared to be stopped every 5 minutes to be admired!

UMMM the biggest t shirt dress I have made is a size 6. (my daughter wears a four:lmao: ) I liked the tee shirt, it was only in a six, so I bought it, and figured it couldn't be that far off??? FOOL!!! I did the fabric 45 inches times 2 I think. Whatever it was the width of the yard, times 2. Well I didn't have DD on hand, so I guessed:confused3 (wouldn't recommend this method:thumbsup2 ) on the length. So when she got home, it goes to her toes. It will probably fit her when she is 10. I think I posted it a while ago, I will look. Anyway, when she runs in it, and trips on the hem, it STILL dosen't pull on the fabric. So you guys should be safe:love:

Here it is...
Picture029.jpg

When I make another one (this is actually my second) I will
1) Buy the right size tee
2) Cut more of the actual tee off...starting with the material higher
3) Measure my child

They are very easy really. I have some flannel paisley I bought as a remnant that i will try out one of these days on a long sleeved tee. I am thinking of making it long on purpose to use as a nightgown. (course it will probably be too short, and will end up a dress:))

We call that a "muffin top" :rotfl2: Wear it with pride!

HONEY....Muffin Toppers are not attractive!!!! You did make me laugh though!!

I personally have Muffin Topper TOPPERS. :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: Yep proud owner of several "rolls" I'm thinking though without them, the "girls" would be at my knees!!!!

DARN!!! My Walmart took out their fabric sections, so I have no chance of finding it around here. Hey Nana, before you get here on Thursday, do you want to check around the Norfolk area Walmarts?!?!?!? Pretty, please!! For your favorite, oldest daughter?!?!?!? ;)

Anastasia now asks where she is! Thank goodness nicholas can't talk otherwise he will be asking also! So, Here is Anastasia in a great snowflake outfit. I did not make it I can not take credit for it! There is a pettiskirt under the top skirt.

That's AWFUL...I guess it goes to show that there are people who go to Disney and there are people who visit the Disboards and then the are DISERS If I saw you at WDW, I'd give you a big hug too, I'm a hugger:hug:

Apparently you SCARY yourself too:lmao:
Aw  you're so sweet. At least I thought that right up until you started picking on me about the fingernails...:snooty:

Franken-CASED-:lmao: Too funny! I really love this idea of the "casual princess" look. These are great!

Sew cute! Isn't it fun trying to sew with a baby around?

...after 40 years of sewing I still manage to get fabric caught up under what I am doing and sew things together accidentally that shouldn't be sewn together....get the seam rippers!!!
I am SO glad to hear you say that!! As I was seam-ripping DD's costume for the 100th time, my husband came by and said "I bet Teresa doesn't have to use the seam ripper this much". :duck: He's lucky he didn't get a seam ripper to the eye! :rotfl2:

We have a DVR and my DD6 deleted HSM2 today, she doesn't know yet but I am heartsick at the thought of telling her.
I just did a search for it on my Tivo and it didn't show up. So, that means it won't be on for at least the next 2 weeks. At least, my Tivo doesn't think it will be. I really feel for you. I deleted Tessa's Strawberry Shortcake show and had to hear about it the whole week (until it came on again this morning).

I am taking a friend to the hospital this morning for some tests. They found a lump in her stomach at her gyn appt last week so she is having a sonogram.
 I hope your friend is okay.

Oh, I really feel for you! I HATE Tessa's Winter fairy costume. It looked so simple and sweet staring at me from the pattern picture. But, it is evil. EVIL, I tell you!

WOW!!! I  the Monsters outfit. That is SOOOO cute!! I also love the Mickey head lollipop. That's such an original idea! On the decoupage jeans...I zig-zagged around the patches on Tessa's. Do you think they'll hold?

I love this fabric and what you did with it! I will have to try a t-shirt dress. I am afraid the weight of the fabric will pull the knit shirt. Do you have that problem?

HeatherSue: I bought the pattern you used for the doggy outfit when they were on sale, so expect some pms if I get stuck! It is such a cute pattern, I want to try Christmas fabric with it.
A t-shirt dress was my first effort and I don't think it pulled too much. It was pretty easy.

When you make that shirt, make sure you don't sew the sides together until after you attach the sleeve!! Then, you just sew the sides together and the sleeves up at the same time (if that doesn't make sense, ask Teresa to explain it better). I did it the way the pattern said- sew up the side of the shirt, sew up the sleeves, then turn it inside out, gather the sleeve, then attach it to the shirt. But the sleeve was so little, it wouldn't fit around my sewing machine and it was REALLY hard to sew it without sewing the sleeve shut.

Thanks a lot! Now Tessa want to know when I'm making her one of those "cute flying pony outfits". It's really cute!

HONEY....Muffin Toppers are not attractive!!!! You did make me laugh though!!

:rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl: I never thought of my rolls as a built-in bra. But, you're absolutely right! :rotfl2:
I think we all secretly want to be admired!!!! Especially our kids in these outfits we all make for them!

Lori
Well, yeah! Why else do you think I post pictures on here, if not to bask in the acceptance of all of my sewing friends?

Yes, I had a problem with the weight of 1.5 yards of fabric pulling too much on a size 6 tank top. Throughout the course of the day the armholes would get bigger and bigger. Eventually put a few holes in the top. I've taken it apart and will be adding a traditional bodice to it.
