First off- Thanks so much to everyone. All of your wonderful compliments have really warmed my heart!:cutie: :cutie: :cutie: I got all emotional in the middle of the night when I was sewing. I started to think my DD is three and all she will see is a pretty dress to dance in but in 20 years when she looks back at the photos from our trip hopefully she will see all the love. I simply made this for her because I just love her to pieces!

Aimee that is one of the most touching things I have seen expressed here. It made me tear up.

Any ideas on how to pack this velvet monster!:rotfl:

Wow! Beauuuuuutiful!
I just noticed you are going during Christmas. I can't wait to see a pic of the Christmas Belle's together.
As far as packing...LOTS of tissue paper and definitely its own suitcase. If you are flying you should buy it a first class plane ticket and just set it up there. I think it deserves one. :)

I hope everyone had a nice holiday. I haven't gotten caught up yet, but if the other pages are as great as the 4 outfits on this page (I love those ruffled HSM pants!) then I'll be greatly inspired as usual. :goodvibes We leave in 4 days and it's time to stop sewing (almost) and finish packing!

Here's what I did yesterday, it's not Disney, but inspired by you lovely ladies (and the few super sewing guys we have!). It's far from perfect and I learned a lot of things I'd do differently next time, but I only spent $5 on all the fabric so you can't go wrong really.

This is the sweetest and funniest thing I have ever heard!!!:rotfl: :rotfl2:

$5!!!!!

You are the queen of the fabric deal :dance3:

It looks great and your DD is adorable! I cannot wait to get to my Halloween projects.

Before my DD went to school I let her try on her Belle gown. Now the dress is going to be hung in my closet in hopes she will forget about it :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I think she loves it!

I cannot find my sewing machine manual and I have never done a buttonhole. My machine has a built-in 4 step buttonhole but I don't know how to use it.

Does anyone have the Janome HF107 machine? This was bought at Hancock's 1.5 years ago.

Can anyone help me with this? Thanks.

aimeeg - the Belle dress is absolutely Gorgeous. Great Work. It is all worth it when you see your daughter smile.

Now - the rest of you - stop scaring me with the talk about how bad Satin is to work with. I'm about ready to start on my DD7 halloween costume, made of all cheap satin. At least if it's horrible I won't feel too bad trashing it, but she is so excited about it because she picked out the fabric that she probably won't care. I hope at least.

My youngest starts Pre-school today, is it bad that I'm excited for that :confused3 . He keeps asking when he gets to go to school so I know he is ready and very excited.

Keep up the good work ladies and gents. Everyone's creations look great.

I was soooo hoping to see this dress on her soon! It is even more stunning on! You did a great job!

.

Satin is tricky, but if you use LOTS of pins, and go slow, it's not too bad. Definately worth the effort if you want the royal look. :)

I'm working with satin right now too. I agree, pin the dickins out of it.

OT- Have you guys seen the "I like Turtles" kid????? :lmao:
He says something totally not what the interviewer is talking about....I just thought of the poor mother behind the scenes, slapping her forehead:

Use Fray Check, it helps keep those edges from becoming a HUGE mess! It's sold in the notions section (at least that's where I've found it) it's in a little clear bottle.

We had an awesome time!! Have a great Labor Day weekend everyone!

Linda

First, I apologize, I am WAY behind here...

The outfit and the cake are FANTASTIC! Looks like a lot of fun!! Did you make the cake yourself? I'd love to try one like it for my DD7 next month...

I have to say I am a little bummed with the pictures. It is better in person. I still need to make the cape and the petticoat. The dress is full but I want it to be really really full. I love the rose bows. I put them on pin backs so I can take them off. I also bought a matching big rose.

Any ideas on how to pack this velvet monster!:rotfl:

I am so glad I finished and now I get to sew cotton!!!!

My Dh really liked it. He did say I wish you did not tell her about it. How are you ever going to keep it off her.

AMIEEEEEEE!!! Awesome. It's fantastic. I'm also amazed on how speedy you were! I can't wait to see your DD in it all finished with petticoat and cape!

Hi all! I've spent the last week sewing and now I'm 50 pages behind! I'm loving all the outfits that I'm seeing though so it should be a pleasant morning catching up. I won't post any pics yet though as I don't seem to have completed anything I've worked on. Everything seems to need one thing done before it's finished and presentable. Oh, and I blame you all for my evil nemesis The Ruffler. I bought it because you all told me how easy it makes ruffles, but let me tell, mine does not like me! We're currently trying to come to some sort of understanding. Oh, and I love the sig graphic! I'm going to add it in sometime today. Thanks to Revrob for making it!

I feel you on this one I decided that i was going to make the twins tinkerbell for halloween not just that but I bought the cheap lime green satin and boy does it like to frey. I beg a plee with my sewing machine please:flower3: don't mess up. I can only guess what a seem ripper would do to this material. Did I mention each dress has 36 pattern pieces what was i thinking?:scared1:

One way to make a full skirt really stand out without a lot of petticoats is to use horsehair braid on the hem. The really pretty McCall's princess costumes call for it. I used it in bridal gowns and formals. It is made of polyester and sold by the yard in the notions section.

Joann's also sells petticoat net. It is very stiff and you just gather and sew onto a slip. I make my slips for girls out of the dress pattern, using the basic top and skirt, and then sew my ruffles to it.

Well, that's my advice. I am sure others have another way.

Finished more creations today :goodvibes A real 'outfit' actually, a top and shorts. I know you are all so impressed :rotfl: I need to jazz them up a bit I think. Maybe add some pink to the top or a ruffle on the shorts. Dont know......The fabric has Pooh on it and it is SO cute!

100_6825.jpg

I made this pattern and thought the same thing. Mine's a small pink/orange floral for the top and a pink/white stripe for the bottoms. Seersucker, which I've never worked with but now love. Cottons need ironing. Seersucker, a firm shake is all.

I added a 1" finished ruffle of the fabric from the top to the shorts and made bows from the shorts fabric fabric and added them to the top where the shoulder straps come in. Too cute!

And to Disney-ify mine I've made a Mickey head from the striped shorts fabric and will be adding it to the bodice right before our trip. She's been wearing it half the summer and we'll put Mickey on for the trip, then take him off when we're done.
