Kids Disney Boutique / Customs Clothes Part 3

Boy do I recognize Gymboree in there! So what do you do, fold all of the clothes super neatly, and then place them in the Ziplocs and squeeze the air out? Yours looks so nice and neat! i can also appreciate the type"A" planning of outfits and bows and shoes etc!!

What do you do with sneakers?

What size bag is it that you are using?

I am a self-proclaimed packing expert. I decided on which outfits for which days for which kids. I used 1-gallon and 2-gallon and some 1-quart sized zip-lock bags from the dollar store. I ironed and folded complete outfits and labeled the bags with a marker like Aimee did. I put the child's name and date of wear and time of day. I divided my three suitcases by the day. The biggest was for Mon, Tues and Wed. The medium size was for Thur and Fri. And the smallest was for Sat and Sun. Once in Disney, as the suitcase was finished, I put the dirty clothes in it and zipped it up. I put "kits" in the zip compartments in the top part of the suitcase like medical kit, sunscreen kit, hair kit, etc. Hairbows were hung from a hanger and put in a bag with lots of air so it wouldn't get squished. I packed three outfits per kid (3 kids) per day plus pj's and swim suits. I only brought two pairs of shoes per kid. I had two outfits per day for myself. The pull-ups and wipes went in my DH's suitcase. I also had two carryons: one with toys and fun stuff and the other with change of clothes etc. Here are my pics of packing:

I really liked this way of packing because everything was planned and portioned out ahead of time. I just doled out the zip-lock bags and it separates the clean from the dirty.

Well, I haven't tried appliqueing on sweatshirts yet nor done adult sizes but I can't imagine why it wouldn't work.

Well when I put those words in (copy and paste) two outfits came up. One for a 3 piece auction, but one for one with an embroidered white petticoat with the rabbit. I am watching that one!!! (well I am watching the pink Cinderella themed one as well, but don't like that it says it has rips!)

By the way Lisa, that Cindy resell of yours...the seller edited the auction to add custom...you will probably feel better for her now! I still have my max amount, but am hoping to win. Her pictures aren't the greatest. Do you remember the peasant shirt to that auction?? Is it a plain cream? Thanks

Hmm, I don't see a second listing... but it sounds cute. I didn't see the note that the pink dress is ripped.

I checked my photos of the Cinderella set and the peasant top is a white on cream paisley print. My photos aren't terribly good since they're mostly for my "records" but here's one that kind of shows the peasant top print better.

BTW - I added a light amount of fabric paint for the blush on her cheeks. That's the only place I used the paint and I thinned it down so it would act more like a dye and soak in rather than paint that is mostly on the surface.

Ladies, I am having a crisis!!!
I am working on my first applique(thanks to your inspirational photos) and my machine keeps dropping the stiches as I go around Mickey's head. Can
anyone diagnose my problem? Is the tension or something wrong? I am not a very experienced sewer and it looks great on the spots where it is actually stitching but then it will just stop stitching even though the needle is threaded, moving, etc.
TIA for any advice you can give-

You may need a larger sized needle. I've had my machine skip stitches before so I went up a needle size (or two) and it worked fine.

I just thought I'd share these. We had the kids' pics done tonight and they wore their Epcot outfits so I had to share.

I'm coming out of lurkdom(is that a word? ) to ask for opinions please...

It's my first trip to WDW, as well as both my girls and I need some advice from you WDW vets. I know I'm asking a biased audience but... we have reservations for CRT breakfast in September. I have a custom cinderella outfit that I just love for my daughter complete with appliqued shirt, twirl skirt, and matching necklace, bracelet, shoes, and bows.

If she wears the custom outfit instead of a cinderella costume will she feel out of place? Would I be better off having her wear the custom outfit a different time and wear a costume for the breakfast

Yes, you see a lot of Gymboree! I mostly put the baby in gymbo and smocked dresses.

What I did was plan each outfit. Clothes, bows, and shoes. I then made a spreadsheet. When I packed I folded the clothes and bows and put them in gallon freezer bags. Next I wrote the day and or activity the clothes were going to be worn. I nestled the shoes around the outside edges of the suitcases.

For my DH and I used the same method but I used the two gallon bag. He loved it and I loved he was able to help me in the mornings when we were so tired! We stayed off site. Never Again!!!

I packed the big bows and costumes the same way. i just took them out as soon as we got to the hotel. My DD had a whole other suitcase for her costumes. I did wrap all of her crowns and tiaras (because she needed more than one of course) in tissue and nestle them bewtween costumes. It was not to big though.

This is a tough question.

IMHO-

You are going to THE castle. I would wear a gown. My DD was so excited to wear her dress to the castle she could hardly stand it! It is all she talked about for months.

This is my favorite castle picture. It is priceless.

I would have her change after breakfast and head over to the Judges Tent, the fountain and the wishing well. Those are some great photo ops!

Whatever you choose have a great time!

I have been gone all day. Sorry it took so long to respond.

I do not like rolling clothes. My MIL does it and her clothes are always wrinkled. Using bags was great. I posted this pics before but they might be helpful to people packing soon.

Multiply this by two and that is what I was able to fit!

And here I thought I was the only one. I have packed this way for several years, and will never go back. I pack in ziplock bags no matter where we are going, or for how long. I love being able to let the kids pick an outfit knowing it will all match, is neatly ironed and complete down to underwear and hair accessories. Ahh. I feel so at home among other OCDs.

Thanks for your opinion! I'm just so torn with what I should do. Would you say that most all of the girls were dressed in their cinderella gowns?

I must say, though, my dd really dislikes wearing costumes because of the itchiness factor but I really want her to feel special since this is her first time in the castle. What's a mom like me to do, lol?

I will be on my way to Walmart in the a.m.- I also figured out that I used the heavy-duty Heat and Bond and I should have used the light so maybe that's an issue as well.

Your 2 DS and DD are so cute. Don't worry about the gender error. When Zoe was that size, I could have her totally dressed in pink & lace and someone would invariably remark how cute HE is. LOL I'd usually thank them and say something like... "I agree plus she's a sweet baby, too" with just a slight emphasis on the pronoun.

I would say 75% of the girls were wearing gowns. If you DD does not like to wear them then I would have her wear the custom. She will not care about anything else other than being in the castle and meeting those princesses!

I think she will feel like a princess even with out the"princess gown." Maybe you could get one of those little comb tiaras to go with her custom. I would not worry she is going to have a great time and will be treated like a princess!

We watch a ton of college football, although our school teams Univ of Tulsa and the Air Force Academy, are not strong college football teams.

But we are crazy about our KC CHIEFS (although our season hasn't started out very well.)

Now, when college basketball comes around, watch out, we become totally obsessed.

We didn't attend KU but when you live in KS you kind of get sucked into the excitement. We even have season tickets we share.

we live in md but root for the chiefs too- dh is from kansas city mo. but if the ravens play the chiefs, i tell him "home" is where his wife is and im a baltimore girl so baltimore is his home, which means the ravens are his "home" team. simple as that!

I'm sure you're right...comfort is key and I think she'll be in awe of the moment and nothing else will matter! I just want this trip to perfect for her and my other little one because I always wanted to go to WDW as a child and never had the opportunity so I just really want to make this the best trip ever for my little girls

We're getting so close and it's so exciting! I'm so glad I found this thread so I could go buy (can't sew) some of these cute outfits all of you are making and I can't wait for her to be able to wear them there!

This is the first time I've had something to contribute.

Here is the Ariel shirt with denim shorts. I'd posted earlier asking how to create the ribbon shorts/skirt and really appreciate everyone's help. When I went to Waldemort, I found this great trim and I figured it would be easier to just sew it on. I'm pretty pleased with the result. My daughter thinks the shirt is a little short. I'm trying to decide if I want to add another ruffle. What do you think?

A little off topic--This picture is of my first creation This is the outfit my DD7 wore on the first day of school. You can't see all of the bottoms, but they are pink gingham capris. I can't take much credit for the top since the shirring was already in place when I purchased the fabric at Waldemort. To make it Disney related, if you could see the front of her bookbag and lunchbag, you would see the Disney Princesses.

I still have three other outfits to finish before we leave for Disney on the 12th. So I should have more to post later.

Thanks for sharing your creations! I love the rick rack on the Ariel shirt. I don't think it looks too short but if your DD would feel more comfortable wearing it I would add an ruffle.

I was trying to catch up before posting but I had to stop here. I had to start putting bows in DD's hair every time we went somewhere because everyone kept telling me how cute my SON was. We're in Home Depot, she has a dress on and a pink pacifier in her mouth and an employee walks by and says "hey little man." Later that same trip we're checking out and a lady tells us he looks so cute and just like his dad. We were cracking up by the time we left there.

That's not the only time, either, and EVERY time she's had a dress on

Anyway, I confess to thinking she was a he too. Your pictures were making me all misty eyed because I want another boy . The pictures are adorable and I bet they love their little sister.
