pardon the wrinkles, they were playing then I took the photo. :dance3:

Is that puffy paint or some kind of liquid applique you used? If so, was it easy to use? Plus that fabric is really cool , I need some!!!! (for ME!) I like longer skirts with ruffles! You did a super job!

I was going to try to respond individually to all the kind words of compliment and encouragement about Zoe, my designs and my dream business. Then I worried I'd miss some and appear to have slighted those posters. Instead I hope this more generic but still heartfelt post will be adequate. When I started posting to this thread, I was so thrilled to find so many people with at least 2 of the same interests... or obsessions - sewing for kids and Disney. I know I'm still a "newbie" on this thread but I really appreciate all the wonderful comments made.

I'd also like to say "keep up the good work" on your sewing and other crafting projects! It's so cool to see such enthusiasm for sewing. I think I know only one other person locally who sews for her daughter and she mainly seems to make holiday outfits. I'll try to answer questions when I can because I think it's important to pass along what I've learned. I hope Zoe wants to sew as she gets older but if not at least I'll know I've helped some other daughters if only in small tips and tricks. :)

Funny you said that. The lost time I logged off, I caught just a glimpse of the siggy and thought, "hmm, that's not what I intended!"
I was TRYING to make it a take off of mouseketeers, so called it Disboutiqueers. Now I'm not sure if it translates. :rotfl2:

So, what is the general consensus? Should I change it? I'm happy to do so. I guess I could make it Disboutiquers (though I'm not sure if that is much better?)

I would change it. I think people will either laugh or be offended.

It is too cute for that!

Thanks for the siggie reminder, everyone. I didn't realize there was a line maximum. I wasn't over 50MB, but I was over 12 lines, so I took out my ticker. I'll just look at teresajoy's ticker to tell me how long 'til 15 HoJoKi do Disney! Besides, with my obnoxiously long multi-quotes, I really didn't need more stuff at the bottom!

Just think of how blessed we are to have children, grandchildren, and we live here in the USA where everything is so plentiful...my DGS was 13 months when he finally from Russia, and he didn't have milk, no bottle, no diapers, no soap, no sheets, no mommy, no daddy, only his thumb, and some gruel 3 times a day and sweet tea from a tin cup...we truly are blessed...
You are so right. It breaks my heart to think there are children in this world living like that.

Very cute dress! I agree about the ruffles! I hate doing it by hand, but I need help finding a ruffler foot. I've looked online and they are over $50, how is everyone getting them for less than $20? I'd like to pick one up on Friday, but not sure where or how.
I just bought a Whites brand ruffler foot for my Singer at JoAnn. It was $15 (regular price), but I had a 40% off coupon- YEEHAW!! It fit my machine and it seems to work. I'll have to have my sister show me how to use it a little better, though.

THese are very cute! I saw that Mickey flannel at our Joann's a week ago. I can get you some if you still need some. I also got some fleece that looked a lot like it but with bigger mickeys
Thank you for the compliment and thank you for the offer!!! I found some more of the fabric today at JoAnn, but I didn't get any more. I'm going to lay off the fabric buying until I get some outfits done.

Oh HEATHER! did you forget allready????? I'm H O T!!! SSSSS!!!!

Seriously though, after having nursed kids for 7+ years, it would NOT be a pretty site! Good thing my husband is so much older than me, he doesn't see so well anymore!!! :rotfl:
:lmao: :rotfl2: How could I possibly forget that you're H O T!! SSSSS!!! I love the comment about your "old" husband!

My vote is for taking out the extra "e"!!!! It definitely spells something we don't want it to spell, but I do see where you were trying to go with it!

You're just great, I can't say it enough!! We're so glad you're here and thankful for all of your help!

I really have appreciated all the help you give (and the help of everyone). It's a great legacy you are leaving, missy!!! I know for ME you've totally inspired me to improve and practice. When you answer someone's question or take the time to give tips...it is just very nice to enrich the lives of your "imaginary friends". I know my dd loves to watch me sew and I think she may give it a try when she gets older. I have this thread to thank for that! :grouphug:

Ocala...that's doable from here!!! I see a road trip in my future...I didn't think they were this far south.
I didn't either, so I was quite shocked to see that they were that close. There's actually about 6 in Florida, but most of them were in the Pensacola area (or at least farther north).

I want you to know how encouraging it is for a newbie like me to know that I can do this! It is really encouraging to me when I'm standing at that machine thinking "what did I just do?" to know that I can come here and ask a question, and there are those like yourself that will so generously help. It helps me continue on and keep up the practice! Thank you!

OK! I'm really sorry if the first versions offended anyone. Here's a remake with only one "E"

AND because I realized that the non-sew version didn't have Disboutiquer in it at all, I've done a remake of it as well!

Anyone may feel free to use either version!

To get it into your siggy - right click on the version that you want. Click on "save picture as". Save to your computer. Go to "User CP" at the top left of the screen. Go to Edit Signature. At the bottom middle of the screen will be a box that says "insert signature picture". Browse to where you have saved the pic on your computer. Click save signature.

ENJOY!

I finally got to the end of the thread! I feel like I need a reward! Guess I am going to HL later today!!! We have 10 more days till we leave so that leaves plenty of time to make 3 more outfits! Not to mention we have 10 shirts soaking in tye dye in the garage and my hands are tye dyed and my legs and my dd's hands!

Anyway, I remember seeing shorts back somewhere on the board that included ribbons that looked like they were coming out of the bottom of the hem. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Does anyone know how to make them? Do I just sew the ribbon on at the bottom of each leg? Or, since my time is running out and I still have a Tink outfit to make, would a ruffle be easier?:confused3

I appreciate your help! I'll try to post pictures later.
Are you talking about this? I cut the ribbon to the length I want usually for me 5 1/2 inches, but for shorts you may want it a little shorter. You fold the ribbon over, wrong sides together and glue in place. I have about 1/2 inch up inside the pants so the actual hanging ribbon is only 2 1/2 inches long. Then stitch down. You can also put ribbon on the outside or ricrac to add a little more to it. I didn't in this case because of the applique.

I used heat/bond to attach the mickey head then just used metallic fabric paint to outline/seal the edges. Thanks for the compliment.

Oh, I just bought this pattern. Was thinking of what to do with it!

the patterns were super easy to make. the bigger one, the one with the ruffle did not come with the ruffle in the pattern, but I felt it needed something.
I still have some of it left over and think I am going to make mathcing bandanna hats/babushkas.

OMG, my dd6 would go crazy if she saw that! I really want to make her one, but not until I have more practice!!

I was going to ask on here if I could use my 40% coupon on one. On the coupon it says "exludes... sewing machines & sewing machine dept. merchandise..." So, a ruffler foot wouldn't fall into that category?

I wondered the same thing. I got a bunch of stuff and the coupon took the 40% off the ruffler foot automatically (it was the most expensive thing).

Now, go get that ruffler!
