Kids Disney Boutique / Customs Clothes Part 3

I was going to try to respond individually to all the kind words of compliment and encouragement about Zoe, my designs and my dream business. Then I worried I'd miss some and appear to have slighted those posters. Instead I hope this more generic but still heartfelt post will be adequate. When I started posting to this thread, I was so thrilled to find so many people with at least 2 of the same interests... or obsessions - sewing for kids and Disney. I know I'm still a "newbie" on this thread but I really appreciate all the wonderful comments made.

I'd also like to say "keep up the good work" on your sewing and other crafting projects! It's so cool to see such enthusiasm for sewing. I think I know only one other person locally who sews for her daughter and she mainly seems to make holiday outfits. I'll try to answer questions when I can because I think it's important to pass along what I've learned. I hope Zoe wants to sew as she gets older but if not at least I'll know I've helped some other daughters if only in small tips and tricks. :)

I always appreciate you and your willingness to help out. Whenever my daughter is "shopping" on this thread, I tell her I can try to make anything except something from LisaZoe! You give me something to aspire to. I hope your business is the success youdeserve!

I didn't either, so I was quite shocked to see that they were that close. There's actually about 6 in Florida, but most of them were in the Pensacola area (or at least farther north).

When we lived in Pensacola I went to Hobby Lobby at least once a week for scrapbooking supplies. I loved it and was so sad when we moved here and I couldn't find one. I hate dumpy Michael's! Hey, my daughter asked the other day, how come when we go to Michael's we never see him? I say who? And she says Mike (I think she means our neighbor whose name is Mike). I think she thought he owned the store!

Are you talking about this? I cut the ribbon to the length I want usually for me 5 1/2 inches, but for shorts you may want it a little shorter. You fold the ribbon over, wrong sides together and glue in place. I have about 1/2 inch up inside the pants so the actual hanging ribbon is only 2 1/2 inches long. Then stitch down. You can also put ribbon on the outside or ricrac to add a little more to it. I didn't in this case because of the applique.

here is one with ricrac on the bottom

That is exactly what I was looking for! Thank you so much! Which kind of glue did you use? I have some of Alene's, um, I think it is called Ok to Wash It or something.

OK! I'm really sorry if the first versions offended anyone. Here's a remake with only one "E"

AND because I realized that the non-sew version didn't have Disboutiquer in it at all, I've done a remake of it as well!

Anyone may feel free to use either version!

To get it into your siggy - right click on the version that you want. Click on "save picture as". Save to your computer. Go to "User CP" at the top left of the screen. Go to Edit Signature. At the bottom middle of the screen will be a box that says "insert signature picture". Browse to where you have saved the pic on your computer. Click save signature.

ENJOY!

Ok, forget my last post. Thanks for doing the siggy.

Okay, now I need to do the ribbon bottom to a skirt or short set. It is so cute. Off to moms and HL to get some sewing done!

100AcrePrincess I love your cinderella princess dress. I have been thinking of doing my DD's sleeping beauty dress in light weigh cotton material so it won't be so hot, and now I think I will. :thumbsup2 Your under skirt turned out great. W2G!

And look everyone, I FINALLY got my siggy right. YEAH ME!

<<<Lurker popping in>>>

I just love love love seeing all of these cute outfits! I had to buy all of our customs, because momma here can't sew worth a lick. But you all make it look so fun and *sometimes* easy :)

I'll post our little outfits hopefully tonight. I got some great ideas here and was able to find a couple of the things that some of you ladies mentioned. LadyRob introduced me to the Cinderella shoes and I believe (please forgive me if I am mistaken) that HLAuburn had shown us the cute pirate "don't touch me booty" applique.

We are set to go. DH doesn't understand why our daughter needs an outfit "like that" everyday:rotfl:

The kids know we are going, but the way we are kicking things off are "surprises" from Mickey and Minnie. Sunday night after they go to bed I am going to set out Disney prizes that I have been buying over the course of several months. Some of the things thay can take in their backpack. I'm going to have Mickey and Minnie dolls holding balloons. The kids know that when Mickey comes and brings us surprises "It's our turn!!" They both keep asking "When is Mickey Coming?" and they tell people when Mickey comes "It's our turn to go!" Of course non-disney fanatics just look at me like I'm crazy.

I'll try to post the outfits later on today.

Thanks again and what a wonderful bunch of ladies (and men) that post here. I just love how you all share ideas and openly exchange outfit tips. You should all get a big pat on the back (pat, pat, pat).

Hugs! :flower3:

I use liquid stitches. It is sold at Voldemart on the notions wall. I then sew the rick rack on.

I don't know about you all, but I feel that were all friends here. I even feel if I know a few of you. :)

I was wondering If anyone would be interested in a Gift exchange for the children. Kind of like a Not so secret, secret santa? ? ? Just an idea. I would be willing to organize if we have enough interested. If not maybe we could do a card exchange. But I was thing the gift exchange everyone interested could pm me the name, age, address of their child (ren) and what they like. Keep it at $10 (not including shipping). I would try to match siblings with other siblings. Girls with girls, boys with boys the best I could and even try to get as close on the map as possible to save on shipping. :confused3 Again, just an idea. Everyone here would have to be extrememly trustworthy. I have done this before on a discussion board, and it worked fairly well. 2 out of around 45 didn't get gifts as promised. But some great ladies stepped up and took care of those 2. Of course the ones who were suppost to do for them got gifts for their kids, then disappeared. We could say, if your not a member of this group as of right now, you couldn't be in the exchange.

Let me stop talking, and see what everyone is thinking. Let me know!

Revrob -- thanks so much for creating the banner. LOVE IT! you are so talented -- (okay -- I did something wrong -trying to add it -- I'll try again -- it worked)

100Acres : love the Cindy dress -- would you believe that it looks just like the one I bought DD last year --- great job!

I'm still on limited lurking time because of work -- keep up the great work ladies & Tom!!! I've finished my princess toile outfit and a Halloween outfit and have prepared (washed/ironed/cut) all my fabrics for my Belle outfit -- I just don't know when I'm going to have time to work on it.

I've done a postcard exchange for the kids where you got a postcard from your "secret penpal's location"... it was pretty cool for the kids who ask every day "is there something for me in the mail?" {my reply -- sure -- how about this bill?}. You can count me in...

OK...... talk to me about the ruffler foot you are all speaking of! Are all machines able to use one, or just some? I have an OLD machine (a brother VX-1120 according to the box) my mom gave me. How do I go about finding out if my machine is compatible or not? I hate doing them by hand :headache: I always end up ripping the darn thread 99% of the time when I am trying to pull the gathers.

I finally got DD's Cinderella dress finished.
2007_08290077.jpg

You did a great job on this! It actually takes me down memory lane. I had totally forgotten that I made DD a Cinderella dress for Halloween when she was 3. It was very similar to yours and I even used plastic bags to pouf the peplum! Seems like someone else was just talking about doing that the other day.

Lisa, I so appreciate that you take the time to share your tips, expertise, beautiful creations and especially your darling DD with all of us. Thank you!

I want to make sure you know I was not offended. I love the banner and I did not even notice it at first. Thanks so much for doing this us!

The one I go to is in Palm Harbor. I know they had the sailor SS because I wanted non-sailor SS to make an outfit. I ended up finding some at Waldemort but it is so cheap and thin I am wondering now if I should have bought it at all! Seriously, sewing never made me almost cry like it has these past two nights, fighting with this fabric. Anyway, if anyone needs me to purchase some and mail it, let me know. I think I'll stop by tomorrow if I can.

Thanks - I am going to call the Joann's close to us today and see what I can find... sometimes though it's like talking to a wall so wish me luck!

Hmmm I think I would like to be in... I'll PM you no problem!

Lisa - I didn't quote you here but you're really great and thanks for all the help you give all of us...

UtahM-don't know if you go out and "drink" but I think you'd be fun to hang with!!!!

Everyone thats posted has had some great stuff - Im working on the patchwork jeans and skirt for the kids - can't wait to see how it turns out - so far so cute! :)

I used a fabric glue, I don't remember which brand I think something no sew, it was in a squeeze tube. Any fabric glue will work, but I would recommend you sew it, also. Becareful when washing, any ribbon with "painted on" dots , the dots will wash away over time!

How about a version for those of us who are just here to steal all the design ideas and really love e-bay but can't say "e-bay" without feeling like there's trouble to follow? And who need to lose 30 pounds and like dogs, not cats? Pepsi NOT Coke? :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

LOL! I love seeing it in all the signatures!

Off Topic Super Cool News-

Dh ok'd "Disney in December Very Merry Christmas Weekend Getaway" OMG!!!! The only catch is sinse we are going on our really big trip in March I have to do this one super cheap! Here is where I need some help. We want to stay at a value resort, 2 base park days, dining plan and attend the Christmas Party.

Any clue how I can do this on a very tight budget? We do not have a Disney Visa (not going to get one either) but we do have AAA.

On Topic-

I need some really super cute Christmas custom ideas. The only thing I want to stay away from are overalls. DD does not fit in them well. The girls are 4T and 12-18 months. See I new I bought all that extra Minnie dot for a reason.

Wow...I have been gone for the last three weeks and it seems I have missed such a landslide of posts! We've been on vacation (not Disney :sad1: ) and now getting ready to send the kids back to school next week. We have our Disney trip coming up at the end of September, so I have to get back on the boutique wagon here and churn out my creations for the family. In between all that I'm going to try and catch up and see all the fabulous stuff everyone has been making. Hopefully in a few days I will have some photos of my own to post up. ;)

I do have to ask though...has anyone seen custom girls patent leather shoes? We were in Niagra Falls and I saw this little girl that had black ones with with Alice in Wonderland scripted on the sides and a teacup and playing cards on them. I thought they looked really sharp and for a moment thought just maybe this was a Diser, but considering we were not in Disney, I didn't want to go up and ask. I REALLY wanted to take a pic, but then I thought I might look like some weird child predator or something...so I didn't. :scared:

Here is some fabric that I picked up last year when my closest Hancock's went out of business. What would you do with it?

Halloweenfabric.jpg

I already have some of the solide lime green and some solid orange. I also have some candy corn material that I plan on making something with as well. Anybody got some creative ideas?

You're just great, I can't say it enough!! We're so glad you're here and thankful for all of your help!

I really have appreciated all the help you give (and the help of everyone). It's a great legacy you are leaving, missy!!! I know for ME you've totally inspired me to improve and practice. When you answer someone's question or take the time to give tips...it is just very nice to enrich the lives of your "imaginary friends". I know my dd loves to watch me sew and I think she may give it a try when she gets older. I have this thread to thank for that! :grouphug:

I want you to know how encouraging it is for a newbie like me to know that I can do this! It is really encouraging to me when I'm standing at that machine thinking "what did I just do?" to know that I can come here and ask a question, and there are those like yourself that will so generously help. It helps me continue on and keep up the practice! Thank you!

I always appreciate you and your willingness to help out. Whenever my daughter is "shopping" on this thread, I tell her I can try to make anything except something from LisaZoe! You give me something to aspire to. I hope your business is the success you deserve!

Lisa - I didn't quote you here but you're really great and thanks for all the help you give all of us...

I'm glad to know I helped. I know how frustrating it is to be stumped on how to do things or (in my case) how to undo things that went awry. LOL I still have times when something happens to mess up a project. I have a few things I did in the past that make me cringe when I see photos of them and cause me to wonder "What was I thinking?" :lmao:

When we lived in Pensacola I went to Hobby Lobby at least once a week for scrapbooking supplies. I loved it and was so sad when we moved here and I couldn't find one. I hate dumpy Michael's! Hey, my daughter asked the other day, how come when we go to Michael's we never see him? I say who? And she says Mike (I think she means our neighbor whose name is Mike). I think she thought he owned the store!

LOL, Zoe wants to know why Wendy isn't at her store when we've gone. :)

I haven't been around much this week because I'm being a good girl and have been very busy sewing this week. On Tuesday Zoe was invited to a VBS day camp. She was thrilled and I think I was almost as excited. She's gone from 9:30 to 4:30-5:00 each day and is having so much fun. I get to sew uninterrupted without feeling guilt that I'm neglecting her. She'll be camping with my sister and BIL this weekend so I'll have even more time to get caught up. I'm even planning a shopping trip to my favorite fabric store (which is HUGE). I haven't gone there alone in years! Of course, that could be very dangerous for my budget. :rolleyes1

So, here's one of the things I got done this week. I had so much fun putting this together and will definitely be using the string of lights design on other projects. I'm also thinking or other ways to use the idea of tree ornaments.
