Kids Disney Boutique / Customs Clothes Part 3

I was going to suggest the same thing. Usually the smell is from the finish they put on the fabric and most of the time it is a petrolium base.

I have a jacket that my mom gave my DD5 and after wearing it and washing it numerous times it eventually got lost :confused3 :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Have you tried soaking in vinegar? I've heard that takes smells out. Of course, then you have to wash the vinegar smell out, but that is easier than a chemical smell.

I need to vent!!!

Saturday we are going to the Renaissance Festival. Since DD is so into princesses we are going. DH and I do not care for the whole festival. Not to offend the people who work there are just really really really weird!

This weekend is kids weekend and they are having a pirate a princess party. So, I think hey I do not have enough going on in Aimee Land lets make a renaissance princess dress out of special occasion fabric!!!! Way to go Aim!

So, DD goes to Jo Ann's and picks out $10 a yard fabric. At least I have the coupon and my pattern was $.99. The blue glitter fabric she picked was 60 inches and my pattern called for 45 inches. No problemo . . . my "super speedy" fabric cutter said you do not need that much he is the conversion. Okay, I say because both DD's and DH are with me.

We get home I read the pattern twice. I cut the fabric but wait what is this . . . I do not have enough blue fabric!!! So I think okay I will use the lining fabric for the inside of these ginormus sleeves. I have to take DD to cheerleading in the morning I will go to the Jo Ann’s there.

It is 2:00 a.m. and I am off to bed. The next morning DD goes to cheerleading and throws a huge fit because another Mom went into the gym to take pics. Of course Mommy had to come in too. (That is a no no at the Little Gym.) I tried to melt the woman with my eyes. It did not work.

I ended up having to leave Cheer so she would participate in her last class. I walked to Jo Ann's and guess what no lining fabric. I asked a employee and she actually said I do not know . . . I DON'T WORK WITH THE FABRIC MUCH!!!!! This was not a super Jo Ann's. It was a little fabric store.

So, I picked out new lining fabric and used my online coupon so I only spent a couple bucks. I get home re-cut all the lining. Last night I went to my smocking class so I did not get to work on the woodland princess gown.

This morning I get up take care of the girlies and as suggested by Utah I gave them cold cereal and blues clues dvd.

Everything that could go wrong did . . .

I sewed things wrong, I cut things wrong, seems puckered, and I spent more time with the old seam ripper that I care to admit. Then it happened- I lost my instructions. I spent 30 minutes just looking for page one of the pattern. Okay, I am feeling better. I found my pattern and I am ready to make sleeves that are as long as my DD is tall.

Then it really happened- I have lost one lining sleeve. I have looked every where. I even dug through the trash twice!! I do not have enough fabric to cut a new one and I so do not want to go back to Jo Ann's!!!:headache: :headache:

I'm sorry you're having a such a bad sewing day as well. I hope it gets better.

You wouldn't be going to the Maryland Ren Faire would you?

Can you put me in your suitcase when you go home, and drop me off near the Opera House...or up in Charters Towers.....LOL

Sure I would be happy to do that , I love were you live so close to the Mouse. Maybe we should swap ha ha. I do have to say sorry to all for my brain yesterday. I think when I signed of I stated that I was of to care for DS8 who had his apendicts out. My I must be missing my sleep he had his tonsils out not apendics. Yik's I think I am crazy

Okay this is frustrating, it just erased everything I had typed in! :headache: Here I go again.

OK, I'll admit it, I dislike plain t-shirts and decided to add something. DD wants to wear "normal clothes" so I'm trying to keep things fairly basic while still "boutique". :)

Thankfully, my other married nephew and my niece both chose well and I have high hopes for the unmarried nephew. He was enganged but his then fiancee decided a month before the wedding that she wasn't sure about the whole thing so called off the wedding so she could see what she might have missed. We were glad when DN didn't get back together with her when she she realized what a good thing she'd had with him. I guess 3 out of 4 isn't that bad... and the 4th's choice could still improve with age. :cool2:

Well way to go to sneak a custom by your dd! It's cute and she'll be the envy of her classmates. :thumbsup2

And I have 4 brothers and lots of sister in laws so 3 out of 4 is pretty good odds!

Hi
No it does not make it cheaper or quicker to fly through Malaysia we just wanted an Asian stop on the trip for great shopping food weather etc. The flight from Australia to Malaysia is only about 6 hours but from there to NY we are looking at 22 WOW I am not sure about this one. When we flew home last year we flew from San Fran to Hawaii and stopped there a few days and then home this did certainly make the flights a lot easier. I wish I had know where you were all those years ago would have been nice to know a familar person. Well I am sure you are probably asleep by now well I hope you are. Have picked DD5 up from school and still nursing DS who had his apendics out on monday I do love them but this whole pain thing does get to everyone. I know he can not help it is must be very painful. Cathc you later.

Sam from down under
Oooh 22 hours on a plane with small kids is rough. Please take lots of things for them to do. Thats why we would want to break it up by flying out of hawaii. I'm sorry you didnt know us when you were here last time. It is nice to know someone in a strange place. If you do the job swap let me know. I hope your little boy is feeling better after his appendix surgery. It must be hard for someone so young to have to go through that. I hope you don't get too tired from taking care of him. I hope I catch you on here later....

I too am working on this costume and bought the same fabric for our MNSSHP night. THis will be my 1st zipper---wish me luck! I may have to case the bag idea if that is ok.

We are going to Choo Choo Soul also. As someone else said, I already bought the Osh Kosh railroad o'alls. DDs is a dress. For DD I want her hair to be in a pony like Geneveve (sp?) and I am on the lookout for the hat. She has larger gold hoops from DS pirate party that she will wear as well. So far, I found a treble clef (like on her vest) at jo anns that I am using not so sure what else yet, definatly the logo. For DS I am doing the engine appliqued on his if I canfind a good pic to use and I am gonna have him wearing them with one strap undone like the cutie:love: driver. They will be changing right before the concert and this will be #3 outfit just for that day:scared1: Please let me know of any other great ideas that you may come up with.
OKAY I GIVE!!!! What is choo choo soul?????

My Mom has had my sewing machine for about a week. I have cut a ton of stuff out. I have six months to work so I have a pretty elaborate plan. (Although three months is my busy work season.)

But . . . . last night my sewing dreams turned into nightmares. I had nightmares all night about not finishing in time. They were the type of dreams that make you upset when you wake up!

For some reason I was most upset about the Crystal Palace!
ME TOO!! I have bad dreams because I dont think I'll get done in time.

Eeyore's t - I like your new sig pic. Is that from last year's trip?

Does anyone else get worn out just keeping up with this thread?
Whew.
I'm tired now!
Thank you! Yes it's from last year. I made my poor kids stop at EVERY photopass photographer. I wanted to make sure I got my money's worth when I bought the photopass cd!

It's very cool that ya'll are going to be foster parents. I always wanted to adopt or be a foster parent, but then life kind of sidelined me. SO I think it's great that you are so willing to give a part of your life to kids that need you.

We'll be the September 14-22! I'm sure I'll be looking at every kid in a cute outfit and wonder who they are!

Oh!!! Me too - we'll be there 15-22!!!!

We are there the Sept 14-23 - ooohhh - we should all be able to recognize each others kids - LOL - if we run into each other!
We'll be there from Sept 8-18th. Hope we'll see ya'll there!

I'm sorry it sounds like you're having one of my kind of days.:rolleyes1 I know it is not possible for something to dissapear, but it does! I don't know where it goes, but it's just gone. I'm sorry it had to be from material you don't have anymore from. Usually once I finish making the outfit, I find the missing item.....:rotfl2: I hope it gets better!

Here are a couple pics of the fabric I was telling you about - I am doing 2 rows of the note fabric with the dot fabric in between. I was working on this last night - just got into a groove and ran out of black thread!!! Off to JoAnn I go this afternoon.

I really like the musical notes fabric, It's going to be cute!

Sure I would be happy to do that , I love were you live so close to the Mouse. Maybe we should swap ha ha. I do have to say sorry to all for my brain yesterday. Okay, sorry about the tonsils... I hope your son is feeling better and eating lots of ice cream. :thumbsup2

Here is the link: http://www.joann.com/joann/index.jsp?rId=EM082207HOFFER

Eeyore--Choo Chool Soul is on the Disney Channel between shows and they sing songs. They are hip hop based and the driver is way cute!!!!
Not sure if I can post this or not but here is the website, you can watch a video. It's on the Playhouse Disney site.
http://atv.disney.go.com/playhouse/choochoosoul/index.html
OOhh. How sad is this, I started the video and my youngest dd who is 4 knew who they were! :lmao: Okay, I'm so out of it. She evidently loves them. So does this mean I have to do a choo choo outfit too! :scared:

And YES he is VERY cute!!!!!!

Here's the latest princess nightgown I made. I've used this pattern so many times it's not funny. This is may favorite variation though.

Here's a Minnie peasant top I made DD3.

th_2007_08220054.jpg

She's loves it, and I wish I had gotten more of the Minnie dots. I'm planning to add a ruffle to some capris to go with it, but I haven't gotten to them yet. Apparently, I need to be working on 60 things at once or I'm not happy. I'm planning a Cinderella birthday party in about 2 weeks & I'm still trying to get the Cinderella dress to be poofy enough. Any tips on making really poofy petticoats?

OH!! I love the peasant top look! Very cute! And paired with the Minnie -dots

60 things at once? You can do it, you're a DIS-Boutiquer! Practically a Super Hero!

I'm sorry you're having a such a bad sewing day as well. I hope it gets better.

You wouldn't be going to the Maryland Ren Faire would you?

That would be the one!

Thanks to everyone for all the hugs! I am feeling better. When DH got home I was in the kitchen with a baby covered in mac and cheese and ironing a narrowing hem. I put DD3 (Rosemary's Baby today) in her room. I guess I left her in there to long because she fell asleep. She never naps! I stuck myself with a pin under my fingernail and lost it. The ugly cry would not explain it.

He was nice enough to let me scoot out to Jo Ann's to get replacement fabric. Surprisingly it is turning out very nice. It is a little snug :scared1: DD told me to make it bigger. Not an option now. This will just have to be a beauty is painful exercise.

I think I will be able to everything except the zipper and hem tonight. I will post pics later!

Thanks Again!

Aw Aimee, I'm glad you are feeling better now. See, that's why she was Rosemary's Baby, she was just tired. I'm so glad you got the fabric and were able to complete your project. I hope it's not too tight, but I bet it looks great!

OK...Stop everything and check out this auction it ends at 3:05. It is HILARIOUS!!!! Search voldemort: Lot of Pokemon cards my kids tried to sneak past me
You can shorten the search!! LMAO!!!

She also has a blog mom2my6pack.blogspot.com
:lmao: :lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Someone posted a new thread with the link to the ended auction if anyone wants to read it!!! It's on the family board under "you know you've had a bad day when..." Very funny!!

Okay, what do you'll think? Which looks best? I had planned on doing it on a white tshirt, but might just leave it on this. Does the red look okay? Maybe outline in black? But where do you like the word Dallas best?

This one is my favorite!

That would be the one!

If there is a show called Pirate Shantyman and Bonnie Lass do NOT believe them that it is child friendly!! We went to the Ren Faire last month, and believe me, that show was not something for children! Or, myself for that matter! Not that this was that bad, but by the time the show was over my baby nephew, Sawyer (and all the other kids with us!) was singing, "Beer beer beer beer beer beer beer beer!" Try to explain THAT to your husband when you get home!

I'm glad things seem to be coming together, I can't wait to see the dress!

What is Voldemort?

I almost bought a Disney Brother embroidery machine tonight at Walmart for $397 - It was on sale...is that a good price? Anyone know anything about this machine? I had it in my cart, and then I thought,,,,,,hummm,,,,better ask my Dis pals about it first.

Got so much great fabric at Walmart and Joann's today...our trip will have to be 2 weeks long just for my grandbaby to wear everything I am making!!!!

Love to all of you...you know we seamstresses and creative people are sympatico...what a lovely group you all are!!

And you have adorable children. Love the photos. As soon as I figure out how to download pics I will post some with my granddaughter in her new Disney clothes....this is Makayla, both pics in my signature at WDW in October and with her daddy....she is a love!

I thought I was the crazy one!

What is Voldemort?!

it's our code word for Ebay

That would be the one!

We must not live too terribly far from each other. That's my home faire. I belong to the International Wenches Guild and a Privateer Guild (pirate guild.)

Have fun this weekend. It's supposed to be so hot I don't want to even attempt to go and now since DH's computer case is cracking we'll be at the Apple Store getting that fixed. :sad2: Oh well, I'll just have to pacify myself with a trip to the Disney Store. :rotfl:

On another note, I can't believe how many of us will be down around the same time. I'll keep my eyes open for all the custom clothing. :lmao: I should have a lime green name tag on my bag and I'll have the loudest kid at WDW, trust me.

A little off topic but, I think I am going to try and make a boarding pass/travel wallet. Dh is out of town and I am bored. I may use the dreaded pooh fabric. :rotfl2: Wish me luck this will be my first zipper.

hi all - i need your help/suggestions....

this was my first try at decorating some jeans,,,i chose an ariel theme and tried to coordinate fabrics/ribbon/ric rack....

one thing i learned is that i dont think the jean material with spandex in it is great for getting things smooth - but im not sure....what would help to keep my patches from looking "baggy"? all material was washed prior to sewing it on,,,,i am happy with them, but my friend wants me to make a pair for her daughter, and she is more of a perfectionist when it comes to clothes -

any guidance would be soooo helpful!! also, did i over do the patches or under do them????

thanks!!!
