But, I didn't really make mine like that. I wanted to include paper so I went and found a little notebook.
I cut out two rectangles 9"x15" but, you probably want to go by how tall your notebook is if you include one. If it is just crayons it can be shorter.
Sew all the way around (right sides together) except leave a hole on one side (to turn right side out & for the elastic (or you can put in ribbon/rickrack etc.) (You want the hole for the elastic more towards the top.)
IF you forget to put the hole in the right spot I have heard you can use a seam ripper to open a little hole and stick the elastic in and overstitch.
OK that is what I did ha ha ha.
Trim corners and flip right side out. Iron (I know a pain ha ha) Stick in your elastic or ribbon and top stitch all the way around.
Turn up the bottom to create the pouch and stitch down on sides and the new bottom.
I used washable crayons that are a little bigger than normal but, not the giant ones. I stuck one in all the way to the side and stitched as close as I could leaving the crayon in. Mine ended up being 1&3/16" wide so I marked across for the eight crayons and stitched down. Stuck the notebook in and sew on a button and you are done.
My notebook is very small I think it was called a scratchpad or something.
If anyone needs more pics I can certainly do that.
