OK, I think that is the answer I was looking for. I have the ruffler foot, so I ruffle the longest tier, and then sew it onto the next shorter tier. That makes sense! Sorry I guess I didn't ask the question the right way.

If I make a ruffle on the bottom of a skirt, do I need to use one continuous piece of fabric? I think the answer is yes, but I want to make sure. Thanks for everyone's help!

I have looked everywhere for that fabric. Where did you get it? I love it!

You don't want to see a grown woman cry..... do you???

(Hopefully... that's enough gravelling for now, but I AM prepared for more if it becomes necessary!)
i am just gonna be mean to ya guys for a second ..:rolleyes1 (it's all outta love)

This makes a lot of sense. Now what is the stablizer called. When I go to the notion section I see fusible interfacing and heat and bond type stuff. I dont dare ask for help! :rotfl: Does the stablizer iron on???? Thanks!

The stabilizer I use is called Totally Stable by Sulky. It comes in rolls 12" x 12yds. I prefer the kind that is "iron-on, tear away" but I usually have to re-iron it a few times as I work on a complex applique. I usually find it in the notion area hanging on a wall or rack. There are other brands and types, of course, so you could just ask where they keep the stabilizers and look at the different ones available.

Oh, I also sometimes use a wash-away stabilizer called Solvy (also Sulky brand). I use that on tees when I'm using a stitch other than a satin stitch. The tear-away is hard to tear if the stitches aren't really close together so using the wash-away means I just toss it in the washer and the stabilizer is gone. It isn't iron-on so I use it only when needed because I always seem to stick myself with one of the pins holding it on while I sew.

Are you looking for the friends of the world fabric with the Flags and childrens faces and the hite background "words" coordinate??? I have some still available because I WAY over-bought hoping to help out those who couldn't find it. If you want some of either or both just PM me Nana

I found this fabric on ebay and didn't win the auction. It's been a while, and it has become the thing which haunts my dreams!!! I have to have it! Has anyone seen this? Does anyone have some they are willing to part with?

Please check all of your children's toys for the recent recalls. I didn't check mine at first because I knew we didn't have any of the lead paint toys (she is too old for those) and I wasn't concerned about the magnets, because again she is too old to put them in her mouth. But then I read about kids putting them in there ears and nose and well, you just never know. Anyway, I checked through our 10,000 Polly Pockets and we have 3. I will probably never find all of the pieces to return but at least now I know to look.
Now I am off to bed so I can dream about having to break my daughter's heart in the morning because the Polly Pocket jewelry maker has been recalled.:guilty:

Here's my skirt I just finished.
These are taken with a cell phone camera, so they're not the best.

skirt.jpg

Here's a pic of it on my desk. Yes, it stands up on its own. :rotfl2:
Hey, I bought some of that stiff tulle to make a skirt today. :thumbsup2 I love that it can stand on it's own! It's great and she'll feel so special. ;)

Eeyore-

I am so hooked on Project Runway. I did not think tatoo neck should have won last year! I feel your pain. Like me being upset will change a thing. I was not even looking for the Atlas. I just saw it out of the corner of my eye! I took out my handy dandy camera and fired away. I am not a "autograph seeking" kind of girl but I had an overwhelming need to go to Mood! Now whenever I am watching PR I can say I was there! That's not going to get old. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I am so glad that you thought it was wrong, so wrong, that he won. I was so dissapointed and couldnt do anything about it. :rotfl2:

And no, it won't get old saying, "Hey, I was there." :thumbsup2 :rotfl2: (kind of like in turtle talk with Crush when he says to say Dude all the time, your parents will love it!)

Ok, ya'll will put me to shame, but here goes.... My first try at pillowcase dresses and bandana tops!

smaller.jpg

Again, pillowcase dresses. I decided to make one as a shirt and like how it looks on dd7 better than the dresses....
These are cute on your dd's. It's always good when it makes them smile! :thumbsup2

You all will never guess what I just did.

So I am working on my Winnie The Pooh Jon Jon outfit for Ds. I bought extra fabric so I could line up the characters so they were where I would like them.

The back was fine so I cut that out.

I opened the fabric and lined it up, cut out my panel took the pattern off.

Lined it up again thinking how cute it would look, how smart I was to get the characters just so. Went to pin the pieces together... after a moment of confusion I figured out my problem.

I forgot to turn the pattern over for the other piece so it is backwards. So I said FUDGE...what...an...idiot. I guess I will be going to the fabric store this weekend. I can't go today or I would have to take DS who screams the entire time at the top of his lungs. :sad2:

I am going to go make a diaper pouch now...I guess out of some very nice WtP fabric.
:rotfl2: Well, he will be the best dressed little boy with a matching diaper pouch anyone at WDW has ever seen. :thumbsup2 I hae said a few nondisney type words myself whenever the seam ripper, who is NOT my friend is involved, so I feel your pain.

ah.. I know they were so excited, I kept lingering in class and they were ready to be there!
oh, it is a headband, from the disney store , it is at least 2 years old.
Lori
Isn't it sad that we don't want them to go, but they can't wait to get away?:rotfl: My daughter said, "Mom, you can go now." I guess my crying was embarassing her. :lmao:

Someone (daisyduckrn maybe?) about the crystal tees - I'm not sure if this is what you were talking about?
IMG_2756.jpg

I made this one - I just guessed on where to put the stones. I printed out a mickey head on a piece of paper, glued it to a piece of cardboard and cut out. I put double stick tape on the back of the shape and then stuck it where I wanted on the shirt and then placed the rhinestones around the shape and set them. I used a heat set toll (bejeweller) and not an iron. I've not washed it yet, so I can't answer how it will old up (I'm hoping it will be fine!) Hope this helps!
I love this and thank you for the advice on how to do it!

I haven't seen this one, it's awesome. My littlest dd really loves Jasmine. I hope you find some. On a sad note, I went to my Walmart and they didnt have the water fabric.:sad1: So I will have to find another one that does!

Just though I would show ya'll what I have been up to lately. I have been doing a little applique designing.
DSC03473.jpg
This red one is for the little guys. I also made shorts to go with it in the Pirate Map Fabric.

This one is for the 9yo and up.
BTW these were designed for Cheerbop and she collaborated on the idea...Nana

Cool shirts, I love the eyepatch!

Ha ha I know it! I will have a lot left over too so I think we will have a matching wipes case. Maybe a crayon roll. Some other things I will have to think up. The funny thing is we aren't big Pooh fans. It is just he is having his Bday breakfast at CP in MK.

The bead lady has just posted four new items! Ratatouille, Flushed away, Raggedy Ann, and I forgot the last... Must go find Voldemort again!

That would be Strawberry Shortcake!

Definitely all that and the bag of chips too! Nora looks just like you!!! Does she share your fun personality too? No kidding, that skirt is too precious. I'm trying to talk myself into sewing a pettiskirt. I bought the pattern from YCMT. However, I keep reading about the tulle headaches!!! :scared:

If I send you my tulle and a skirt, would you lovingly stitch it by hand for me?:flower3: This is cute! I love this skirt Umama, you did a great job on it and Spongiemamma is right, it does look like a giant slice of watermelon. ;) But hey, I LOVE watermelon! I bet she, heehee I meant Norah not Smamma, smiles everytime she puts it on. It's what I call the fun factor. The more twirl, tulle, or fringe a skirt has the more it increases the fun factor. You can't help but smile! Great job again! :thumbsup2

Thank you! I think a lot of people were out of town. I am glad you liked them.

I met a Diser when my DS and DD were wearing the Pirate mickey outfits. She recognized the outfits from this thread. But I can't remember what her screen name was. She was very nice though :wave2: hello.

Isn't it fun when you meet a Diser!! I hope they come out and say hi, so you will know who it was!

I found this on an internet search and wanted to share:
http://doseofinspiration.blogspot.com/2007/07/decoupaged-shoes-tutorial.html

I'll try fabric too. BTW,the example in the tute is pretty god awful but it's free.

Thanks! I added it to the bookmarks!

Heather, you and your sis are the sweetest!!

Aww thanks! But, to tell you the truth, I'm MUCH! sweeter than her! :rotfl:

Geez, I can't even spell it!:lmao:

1. When attempting to do the "A" word, it is NOT the time to try a new type of thread.

2.Just because the manual says the machine can to the stitch does NOT mean the machine operator can:rolleyes1 :

3. When attempting to do the "A" word it is not necessary to buy YARDS of fabric for a small character.

4.When all else fails open a diet pepsi and read the disboards for a bit:banana:

5. It is not necessary to be able to do ALL types of sewing. I have lived all these years(ok not THAT many years:angel: ) without doing the "A" word, do I REALLY need to learn now?

6.See #4:rotfl:

ok I feel better now- time for round 2...........

This is too funny!!!

Thanks, I don't know why, but I just haven't been paying attention to the news lately, and just now heard about these recalls. I haven't checked the kids toys yet, but I am afraid they won't be too happy.

 to you for having to break the news to your daughter.

The bead lady has just posted four new items! Ratatouille, Flushed away, Raggedy Ann, and I forgot the last... Must go find Voldemort again!

What was the name of the stabilizer that you use on t-shirts after you applique to protect tummies? You posted about it once before and I wrote it on a shopping list and then promptly lost the list! I am a scatterbrain.

The brand I use for t-shirts if Fusi-Knit, comes by the yard, is available in white and black and is ironed on. It can come loose after washing/drying but usually doesn't come off completely and can be ironed again to hold for a few more wears.

BTW - If you need to ask for it at the fabric store, it's actually interfacing and not stabilizer. I don't want to sound picky (althought I can be ;)) but we all know what it's like to get those blanks stares from store employees when they don't know what we're asking about. Also, that will hopefully avoid you being sent to the wrong section of the store to look for it. :goodvibes

GREAT WORK! The prancing and twirling of a child is definitely reward for the headaches of working with tulle.

Oh sure!!! FLAUNT the fact that you can just "jump" in the car and see what we have been agonizing over for 2 days now! ;)

Well, ya know... I live by something everyone else wants to be by too!!! I live by the um....... the ummmmmm........

I live by the FIRE STATION!!! That's right! It's just around the corner and if I ever need them to ummmmm....... post a picture for me, they'd be here in a minute... and not in just a little car either! NO!! They'd be here in a big RED FIRE TRUCK!! AND their :firefight sirens and lights would be going too!

(Thanks for helping Momma post the pics of that CUTE little Halloween skirt. I think you did a GREAT job on it Mom! Ahhhhh.... it feels good to no longer be in suspense! )
