So I have a 1970something White sewing machine I acquired. It has all the stitches I currently "need" and works fine (except winds uneven bobbins the majority of the time).

My family asked what I want for my birthday. I was thinking about asking for a new sewing machine? And if I do, which one should I ask for?

I really like (LOVE) my Brother cs600i. It is at Waldemort for about $187.00. I bought mine at the same location about 18 months ago and paid $240 and it is worth every penny even at that price. Nana

I *love* that outfit you made her! I think she looks darling--of course she could wear a paper bag and still be a cute. Have fun at the concert!

I am taking DD to the American Idol concert tonight. When we were getting ready to go, I asked her what she wanted to wear.
She picked the outfit that I mader her.:goodvibes

Anyway, I told her it was too hot, so we compromised and she just wore the twirl top with a pink pair of shorts, and a bow that I had to whip up at the last minute!

I think she looks o.k.

DW is at work or I would ask her.

I just bought the Singer Esteem from Target. It was $129 and I love it! It does not have a computer but it does have around 30 stitches. I learn something new everyday about the machine!

I want a serger for Christmas. I do not think I would pick any other sewing machine. I love mine!

I believe it's called Andover Duck Duck Goose, there are several variations of the fabric...

Thanks! That's it - I was able to find it on-line. I'm going to a quilt shop tomorrow and will check to see if they have it before ordering on-line.

I went to Hancocks today to try and exchange my satin stitch foot. They told me to try the slant shank one first before I take it back. I need a low shank. (I do not think they know what they are talking about.) Anyway, all of the feet including rufflers are 20% off.

While I was threre I also picked up some more $.99 patterns. At JoAnne's (Hancocks would not take the Michaels coupon.) I bought a mini iron. I have had to do narrow hems and almost fried my finger tips. It was $24.99 with 40% off that. I cannot wait to try it out!

Here is my Epcot outfit. Both Han and Soph are getting them. It has tiered ruffles down the back. It has been a lot of work! Hopefully I will finish one toinight.

I know JoAnnes is having a big sale starting the 12th. Does anyone know what great deals are going on? I do not get the flyers for some reason.

I just bought this same machine today! It was on SALE for $99.00! Plus it was tax-free day in Massachusetts. I LOVE it so far. So easy to operate and I am a novice-novice sewer.

I already added eyelet trim to a Minnie dot pillowcase dress I bought on Voldemort a few months back and it doesn't look half bad.

I am so happy for you but bummed for me! boo hoo hoo! You are going to love it! It is really easy to use. I cannot believe I ever sewed without it!

I guess than I should get to work! I have fooled around on DIS, ebay, email and got my daily trash from perez hilton. Back to sewing.

The house is quiet and nothing is on TV!

I finished this today. Nothing earth moving here - just a version of a pillowcase dress. However, my DD seems to love it, and I think it will be nice and cool for our trip in September.

And a close up of the casing in the top - I did the double elastic version at the top.

Once again, I LOVE MY RUFFLER FOOT! It was so simple to add a sweet little ruffle edge to the bottom of the edge which really kinda finished this simple little dress off I think. TFL!

I love how adorably simple that is, and she looks like she loves it!

Hi Everyone!! Sorry I haven't been around in awhile. I have been trying to catch up for days! Sounds like I will be looking for a ruffler foot the next time I am out.:)
This is the latest I made for DD
aDSCF8651.jpg

I did my first pattern over the past couple days, it wasn't very fun trying to figure out the terms  but I got it done! I know that another DISer has made this shirt with the cars fabric, and I know she used the checker stuff too. Sorry, I didn't mean to copy....... I just really liked it! I don't think it's an exact copy, but I didn't want anyone to think I was trying to take credit for the combo of patterns :)

I don't think many sewing machines come with a ruffler foot. They are big and scary looking.. I know that! It makes all those cute ruffles everyone has been showing off. I have no idea how it works, but I have to get one! :)
Congrats on the machine!!

Anyone have a fringe foot?

Looks kind of cool!
That does look cool!! Might have to pick one of those up too. I bet it would snag easy though. No cats, dogs, children... lol
The princess outfit is ADORABLE. Your daughter looks precious in it.
I love the cars shirt too. I am too chicken to try a shirt like that for my son though. T-shirts with appliques are all he is going to get from me.
Great Work.
It took me a long time to convince myself to try a pattern. I had to read, and reread. I love T-shirt appliques :) Made one last month for my DS that turned 6, it had 6 balloons on it. lol

mickeyfan, great job! That is too many button holes for me, from now on only snaps. :rotfl:

daisylou, thanks for the link. It has really clear photos, I think I could do that!

Anyone seen a foot like this? I have it but, it is not in my manual and I have no clue what to do with it.

Well, I am finally ready to post photos from our trip. Between DH being sick:sick: and all of the laundry:laundy: I haven't been able to spend much time here :surfweb: I haven't been feeling too well myself. All that heat down in Florida was awful. Here it is hot but I am staying indoors!

I did look at the thread and get caught up. Love all the new outfits! Too many to mention great work. Congratulations to all of you with new sewing machines! That Brother machine you all rave about is starting to sound very tempting.

Here are some photos of my kids in the world wearing items I made.
