Finally got these photos uploaded. I thought this outfit came out so cute even if my photos don't do it justice. :) I tried something new on the back. It's simple but I thought it added a nice amount of color to the back (the button is sewn on through the straps so no buttonholes were needed... gotta love that! LOL)

This is a great outfit!!

I got this pic from the "Voldemort" auction site..there is some there but it is >$20 for a yard and a half I think...I didn't want to spend that much...our closest non-Walmart fabric stores are an hour away....hankcock one direction and Joann's another so I have to chose where to look....

does anyone know the official name of this fabric so I could call the stores to see if it is there or will they be able to help me if I just describe it....I can't seem to find it online either, but maybe I am not searching correctly....

I don't know if this has been answered yet as I haven't made it through all the posts, but I just bought this at my Joann's on Tuesday it is called Mickey Swirl Icons and it was on sale for $6.99 a yard. The sku number for it is 8609109.

For those of you who have made this apron shirt, can you tell me how you attach the 2 together and what the front of the bottom piece looks like? thanks!

I finally went out and bought the ruffler foot and the hemming foot today:banana: :thumbsup2 . I thought I was so cool:thumbsup2 . Then I get home and can't figure out what is wrong with my machine. It keeps nesting up in the bobbin area. It was fine last night. I have said way too many words that definately aren't very Disney like tonight:mad:   !!!! So I am taking a break away from it for a minute and had to catch up (maybe I should have tried for Tom's bows for myself too:lmao: )!!!

I don't know if this has been answered yet but this happened to me once.

First, make sure the bobbin is in correctly, follow the printed diagram on the bobbin case. If it is in correctly, then rethread your machine from the thread spool down, there are some tension springs that have to be "caught" just right to make the machine run properly. Usually you do this automatically as you follow the diagram, but you might have missed something somewhere.

After you have rethread your machine, and rethread your bobbin you should be good to go.

Hope this helps!

Tom you are awesome. :thumbsup2 Not only do you make spectacular outfits you know how to troubleshoot too! I completely rethreaded my machine and rethreaded my bobbin and now it works perfectly. I am now LOVING my new machine. Now I just need to get through my DD6 and DS5 pirate birthday party tomorrow so that I can play with my new machine!!!:cool1:

Here is my Mickey outfit. I put it on him to take the picture and I just about cried. It is HUGE. I have to put a shirt under it so it doesn't fall off. I don't understand the one in the cotton barely fits him and I cut it from the same pattern. :confused3

I am not sure if I am going to have him wear it now. It almost looks like a dress. :sad1:

Here are some tie dye ones I did. One for Ds and one for our friends little girl. (We all had matching last year but, the babies obviously outgrew theirs.)

i think it is cute can i ask what pattern you used i have been looking for one similar for my son but can only find the baby ones. can i sewlift:laughing: it from you(copy)

I just finished a back to school outfit for my daughter - just have to add a button hole for the straps and the buttons and we're good to go! :) Unless I can figure out another way to get the straps to hold on there...

I learned a few very valuable lessons last night...

1. The seam ripper is your friend...

2. Do not sew when you're so tired you can hardly see straight to watch a football game.

3. The seam ripper is VERY sharp and will poke pin sized holes in the webbin between your thumb and pointer.

4. The seam ripper is your friend...

5. straight pins will go through fabric and your thumb if you aren't bright enough to move it!

6. Completing an outfit you didn't have to have done for 11 more days is a GREAT feeling...

I will post pics a little later!!!
sounds like an eventful sewing experience. yes the seam ripper is your friend.:rolleyes1

and I am so tired I am cross-eyed. Obviously DD is asleep so no model. I finally figured out how to use my ruffler foot. I had a serious "Doh" moment. I was so upset my ruffler foot didn't come with instructions ... 2 days later (after spending much time at the machine trying to figure it out) .. .I look at the package and it tells you to go to a website where there is a video demonstration "DOH" ... anyway -- what fun ... now I'm planning something with lots of ruffles. Here is my tinkerbell set. I shortened a pillowcase dress to be more like a shirt. The pants are full length. I took a close up of the bows -- Tinkerbell ribbon TOO!

I used the McCalls 2033 (mine is the size 4, the largest, and my Ds usually wears a 3T, even though he isn't even two yet. ) I wish they had more boy patterns similar to this one. I would love to see what you come up with.

The winner of my bows has been notified by PM.

Congrats!

To all of those that entered (41 btw) thank you!

I am glad that I am able to spread the Pixie Dust around!

Ya know????

The Law of the Pixie Dust is that the recipient also must pay it forward...even though I didn't "win", your kindness touched me and everyone involved! Now we need to find a way to Pay it Forward. Even in little ways, letting someone go ahead of you at the checkout, unexpectedly hugging your naughty dd, waving at a neighbor, answering a silly sewing question from a dorky Utahan...whatever!

That was really sweet, Tom! It's really nice to know that there are people like you in the world and especially here on the DIS. :grouphug:

Ok, my sappy, mushiness is over :cool2: ! I'm loving all the creations!

I am working on an Alice costume and will be done tomorrow! It was a bit of a challenge, BUT, I did it! Wooo Hooo! It's not half bad! I'm hoping this lady on Voldemort will have an Alice to embroider on the apron. That would really be sweet!

Cute! That ribbon is beauuuuutifuuuul!!1 Was the ruffler foot easy once you got it figured out?

Now go get some sleep! Wait that is what I should do too. :goodvibes

Would you believe that is blanket binding I had left from a baby quilt. When I started this, I realized I didn't have any matching ribbon. I folded the binding in half and I think it worked out okay.

And, yes ... once I got the ruffler figured out .. whoo hoooo. It was very easy.

Another cute outfit! That yellow button on the back is just the right touch. Are you the one that had some Backyardigan's Overalls on Vold-E-mort. yeah, now that I think about it I am pretty sure it was you, they were really cute. We are big Backyardigans fans. 2nd only to Mickey.

I am lovin' 'Waldemort'. :rotfl2: I am totally calling it that from now on. Dh will think I am crazy.

See? I love a lil' yellow with the Minnie stuff. That is just enough! Very cute!!!

Just "sew" you know ;) , I bought a bunch of cute orange and purple h'ween fabric tonight to attempt a full Twirl skirt. My goal is for it to be full-on horizontal when properly twirled by a happy little girl. Thanks for your continued inspiration!

Yes, that's me. :-) I made those for my great nephew (2) at Christmas but still haven't seen him in them! I was going to do Elmo but then learned he'd recently discovered the Backyardigans and had to do those... and he loved them luckily.

I am lovin' 'Waldemort'. :rotfl2: I am totally calling it that from now on. Dh will think I am crazy.

That name certainly fits with the "evil empire" aspect. ;)

agentpleakley - I love the tink outfit!

I'm s o tired, but I'm too drowsy to sew. I think I'd just end up making a mess.

I'm back in West Virginia picking up my oldest dd, she spends her summers here with her dad. Anyway, I only get online once or maybe twice a day, so it's hard to keep up. And I definitely don't want to wait til I get home!

BUT, I went fabric shopping yesterday and found a lot of stuff that I can't find at home. I'll post pics when I get home!

Not to toot my own horn but I am so glad that I came up with Voldermort! Everytime I read it in someone's post -- I giggle, it is too funny!

:rotfl: Me too!! :rotfl:

I love it!

The ruffler is very easy to use with a little practice! You will love it!

Darnit!!! I was in Joanns yesterday and completely forgot to look for one! I was so excited about finding Mickey Swirl fabric!

BTW- I am officially in the "club." I bought the Epcot Fabric today!!!:lmao:

Did you find it at Hancocks?

Okay, Dh will be home soon. New project hours.
I have to get out of my fleece Christmas PJ's and back in clothes. I also have to make it look like was cleaning.
fabriccombo004.jpg

Sounds just like me, but I also have to dress the kids! I love the hidden Mickeys in that fabric and I'm sure you'll think of something for it!

:lmao: I thought I was the only one that ran around for 10 minutes picking up before DH came home to make it look like I've been cleaning all day. At least now I have wireless internet instead of dialup, so he can't call home and find out when I'm online.

Thank goodness for DSL!!!

Hancock is soooo far from me and I have a Suburban that hogs gas...so I plan on taking my as to Walmart! They totally match the prices and they have a selection! Last week when that sale was on at Hancock, they literally only had 2 of the 10 McCalls patterns I wanted. POOH! "Waldemort" (heh-heh, did you muggles get that?) had all of them

I can't believe that Mickey swirly print is $9.99!!! OUCH! Maybe just a little bit to add to a twirly skirt? That's too much for my blood. Unless, I have a sweet coupon!

I too went to WM, they had everything I wanted but didn't get all of them. I will be going back this week! I did buy two at Joanns for $1.99 yesterday, this was before I knew about Hancocks sale.

I bought one yard of the swirly print and I plan to use it as an accent, I hated paying $7 for it (30% off $9.99)

I really hope to win the bows so that I can put them in my own hair and hopefully channel the spirit of Tom as I sit in front of a borrowed sewing machine and attempt to make a CASE of Lisa's twirly skirt with some of the the mickey swirl material that I am going to drive 60 miles one way tomorrow to pick up on hold for me at my "closest" Joannes fabric store....

I used to be sane before I stumbled upon this thread :dance3:

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: I could use a little "Tom-ness"

I have to say goodbye for a while. I begin Fall Semester on Monday, and I don't think I will have time to come to the boards. If I find time, I will stop in and say hello. I think I have enough ideas for dd and ds outfits for WDW. I will post pics as I make them. I will so miss you all and seeing your creations.

You know you can't stay away! I thought the same thing, we homeschool and I was thinking that I'm only going to be able to get online once a day... well pooh on that! I know I won't be able to do that. It will be like "here honey, do these problems while I check the DIS" or shouting out spelling words from the computer desk to dd at the kitchen table!!! It will all work out somehow! They can't go to wdw naked, so I have to keep up! That's my reasoning!:rotfl:

There are some people on here that turn out excellent outfits every time and don't really need to be told so, and you are one of them. BUT, I just have to say it anyway... Great job!

Here is my tinkerbell set. I shortened a pillowcase dress to be more like a shirt. The pants are full length. I took a close up of the bows -- Tinkerbell ribbon TOO!

I love the binding for ribbon, we could do that with the Nemo binding too!
