Are you looking for an on-line source for hot fix crystals? I have been drooling over combining machine embroidery and crystals. the site I've been drooling over lately is beaddifferentembroidery.com Nana

Yes, that is exactly what I was asking for! I dug out the tool that I bought months ago and started on a shirt for me (I've been working on stuff for my DD all week long!). I had bought two packs of crystals when I purchased the tool, but quickly ran out. I ended up finding a source online that had the ones that I needed to match what I had already. BUT, I also found another site that seems to have VERY GOOD prices on hot fix stones and FREE SHIPPING! PM me if you would like info (can we post a link?) SO, now I'm waiting for my rhinestones to get here to finish what I started. I think it'll be worth it though!

OK here is a dress I am working on..it is supposed to be a halter style that ties behind the neck..well my DD hates that!! And she fussed & fussed about it..so thankfully the straps are long enough so I can attach them to the back..I am thinking of putting snaps on them. (It is just pinned in the pic) It might look a little funky so I was thinking of adding a bow to the back, right in the center lol.
Anyway, this dress is pretty simple..I'm not sure if I should just let it be, or add a ruffle to the hem...or cut it & make it a top & add cute ruffle pants *sigh* LOL Anyway I though the fabric was perfect for the storybook dinner at Akershus.

How do you all get the bias tape around the curves? Im working on a little a-line dress for DD and would like to do it that way!

The bias tape goes around the curves pretty easily because it's cut on the bias (a-ha!). I sew it on twice. I put it under the outfit and lift the front fold up. So, the first time I go over it, I sew the back of the bias tape onto the back of the outfit. This keeps it from shifting around on you. Then, I fold it over the front of the outfit and sew it onto the front (this time it goes through all the layers). I've used bias tape twice, so I'm practically an expert. ;) I hope that made some kind of sense.

I like the Bratz outfit.

You always have the cutest white textured/printed fabrics. Where do you find them? I searched all over Hancocks today and couldn't find a white I liked

I think she once said she gets it at WalMart. I bought some cute white on white fabric there for $2/yard.

Ok this made me laugh...I've gotten to know our UPS man really well lately and I usually just shuffle the pkgs in, put the items away, break down the boxes, and throw them away - all before DH comes home. I'm also VERY happy UPS only delivers weekdays.

However, last week I had alot of fun online...This week my DH had emergency surgery (he's ok) and the day he came home I had quite a stack of deliveries waiting for me....Thankfully he didn't ask to many questions.....

By the way that army pettiskirt outfit ended tonight....$501!!! Whoever is learning to do pettiskirts, keep trying surely that's some inspiration

I'd be in mourning if I had to cut up my cards. Actually, the sick thing is, I'd have to cancel them, cause I know all my numbers, expirations dates and security codes by heart. I totally understand your DH having a fit...BTDT. That is why I took over doing the bills about ten years ago...I don't have to hear the gasps, sighs and outright fits! DH does get a little bit upset when UPS or FED EX comes nearly every day though. :rotfl:

Oh, I forgot to share...and I should have taken some pictures of these but I didn't.
JoAnns had some new (I think) Iron-on applique Pirates of the Caribbean stuff.
they looked like pieces of fabric that were a combination of embroidery and screen printing. Pretty cool.

I was at JoAnn today - I couldn't find any iron on appliques - what do they place them with in the store (thread, crafts, notions).

In our local JoAnn they have 2 isles dedicated to fabric embellishment....this is all very very new btw. They are actually still stocking that area. But it is between the general craft paint stuff and the cross-stitch. I am so excited to see them adding this to the store, my wallet isn't but I am ;)

That's funny, 'cos I would go to see the blond back-up singer dancer dude. The one from seasons in the past that is just super-energetic...bordering on annoying. But cute!
C

Hmmm...you must be talking about Ben!! Way too hyper but cute! Although Anthony does have those eyes... Can't wait to go to the concert in August. I don't know who's more excited, me or DD!

What do y'all think of Ralph from Ralph's World? We went to his show too...it was great! But my DSIL was just going crazy over him!!

Here are pics of outfits I bought from ebay and my very first sewing project.
IMG_0153.jpg

And last, but not least. My first outfit for dd and WDW.
IMG_0151.jpg

It is too big on her, but she has growing room, just in case she hits a growth spurt before MNSSHP.

I really like that fabric combo in the first pic! And there is that wonderful princess fabric that I like! Very nice job!

I still plan to applique around the mickey head (i was thinking in green so you could see it, but I have no green thread)...

I think green would be a good idea and I  the Yoda fabric. DH saw it as he was telling me goodnight and he really likes it too! Good job!

I am on a fabric finding frenzy! In addition to tinkerbell fabric, I am looking for something similar to this
f1e4_1.jpg

Has anyone ever seen it?

Never seen it, but would love to have some! I don't know why, but I think it's absolutely adorable!

Someone named Amy of course made this. I got it from the Disigns board. She has a whole website of great stuff. M_I_C_K_E_Y is her name and she even takes requests.

She did this disign in Mom, big sis and lil sis. I am going to bling out pj's for us!

mom_queen_wwand.jpg

Amy, Pat and CutiesNana all are wonderful DISigners. They've done lots of stuff for me. I've not put them all onto shirts yet, but they are super nice to work with.

I love the idea of using that on pjs! Do you mind if I copy your idea and make some for dd16?

I did my first of many minniemouse-dots fabric. And my first applique.

Wow that looks amazing! Great job for your first time!

This is the Bratz, it's done except for the bling I'm going to add to the top, just a few sparklies here and there.

My girls had a fit over that Bratz fabric, but I didn't buy any. I could not envision what to make with it. I'm so lame about ideas, so I hope you don't mind if I somewhat steal your design? It won't be exact, but at least I have an idea of what I could do with it now, besides a plain twirl skirt or pillowcase dress!

Great job! I think a bow would look nice, you could make it to match a ruffle if you decide to attach one to the bottom. It would look cute as a top w/pants, but it looks nice as a dress too! I think that is perfect for Akershus!

By all means copy away. I am going to make tee shirts for my girls and myself. The girls are also getting princess jammie pants. Like they need custom pjs! I really have to stop with the ideas!!!

Well, dd16 won't let me make her anything but she loves jammies! I found a red w/white dots polo shirt today at Gap for only $5 and some change! I bought one for me and one for her, we'll see if she'll wear it!

OK ! I have been looking at your beautiful outfits on this thread for a while. I cannot sew at all, but DH's wonderful aunt made dd2 a special Disney dress for each day of our recent trip. This was our first disney trip and we had so much fun. I am going to try to post the pictures, but am not sure if I am doing it right. It is a little hard to see the dresses in some of the pictures, but you'll get the idea. Oh I don't think this worked. I can't figure out how to post these pictures!! AGGH!

This is her MK dress.

It is hard to see this one. It has Pooh and friends on the bottom.

This one has Tinkerbell. It's also hard to see.

She wore this Pooh one to Epcot.

This is the Mickey floral she wore to AK. There are two others that I must not have any picture of. I will post those when I get a chance.

OK. I found the other two. This is the pink fabric with princesses.

This one has the princesses at the bottom. I took her to MK that night to have her picture made with Belle, Sleeping Beauty, and Cinderella. They all commented on her dress. DS is wearing a camo mickey shirt that DH's aunt made also. It was a little small, so he had to wear a t-shirt under it.

Sorry for so many posts.

Don't you just love shops like that? I discovered one that isn't much on the outside (like yours) but it is spectacular inside. Each bolt of fabric is just gorgeous. They have a lot of pink with brown like I like :cloud9: .

I would love a bias tape maker. I've done it before just by hand, but it's tedious. I've been buying the little packages, which adds up.

Yes! I love our store. My girls will both be in school in 2 weeks and for the first time in nearly 10 years I will be having some free time. I plan on visiting that store often and actually getting to finish the projects I plan on starting!!!!!

I can't wait to try it! I was thinking of your apron outfit and thinking of how cute it would be to make something like that and use a really small coordinating print to make the bias tape out of!

You guys are way too talented. It almost makes me want to go out and get a sewing machine and start sewing. But who am I kidding I don't know how to sew:lmao: . Anyway a couple of questions if it's ok. First do any of you make matching outfits for yourselfs? I always thought it was the cuitest thing to have matching outfits with the kids. Of course since I've had kids and before too I've always been pleasantly plumb. Anyway I'm on a diet and have lost 32lbs only 80 something to go. Anyway I have managed to go off the diet and I'm having a really hard time getting back on it. So I thought that if I get a matching outfit for me and my DD mayby it will motivate me to lose for my Dec trip. Enough rambling. Does anybody know if anybody does outfits for kids and adult? Thanks and sorry for the rambling. I really enjoy this thread. Oh one more question. How do you guys keep track of were you are on here.

O.k, so we've had a Lisa and Amy roll call, it looks like we need to have a Riley too!

Until I finally saw Utahmomma say she had a son named Riley I was starting to worry that I was the only one with a human kid named Riley!

My Riley is a girl and she will be 10 on Oct. 1st!

I think I'm going to have a nervous breakdown. I just realized that I am going to have a kid in double digits and my baby is going to kindergarten all in just a couple of weeks!:scared: When did that happen?

So funny . . .

Tonight my DH did not feel like doing his homework. No he is not 10 he is in graduate school. So he hung out with me in what he likes to call my crafting" cage." (A woman at a craft show had a cage like structure that she painted ash trays while her husband worked the floor!) I call it the Art Room.

I set up one of our desks as a sewing desk. I bought a thread holder and hung it up tonight. I even started a desk top sewing basket with my little gotta have notions. I brought down my antique sewing supplies lion. Those little girls better not touch it! I already saw Hannah eyeing up today.

My husband saw the two dresses I made and was talking to me. He giggled and said they were really cute. The one with the camo Mickey- he said Aimee the smocking is beautiful. I in return said thanks hunny bunny but thats ric rac. At least he has been half way listening. I pulled out my practice smocking. (I did more tonight.) He was amazed that was done by hand. He thought the sewing machine did it.

I then started to show him my idea book. I was working on my Crystal Palace outfits and all of a sudden DH starts telling me all the sewing terms he knew. I think he said hem, elastic, sewing machine, felt, and smocking. He was really proud.

I showed him some other fabric I had. Like for Mickey's BBQ and Ohano's. I did not dare pull out my real stash. That has the 15 yards of minnie dot. I am trying to decide what to do for Hollywood and Vine. I pulled out my three choices I already had and said I just can't decide. I do not know if I want to do a random Mickey outfit or Jo Jo specific. He told me he likes when the girls match and we both agreed the girls are not Jo Jo crazy. He said why don't you just make all three.

I was like they have two outfits for each day! Not to mention princess costumes. He said no biggie- some days they will have three, kissed me on the forehead and went to bed!

BTW- he even sat through some of the photobucket link!

OHHHHH! That is SOOO sweet!!! What a wonderful husband!

I got some of the sock monkey fabric to make my dd5 a back to school set and I also got a handy little tool! It is a bias tape maker. I can't wait to use it. There are a couple of outfits that I have wanted to make, but I wanted to be able to use a coordinating fabric instead of the packaged bias tape.

I've had one of those in my hands today at Hancock Fabrics, I was tempted to buy it, but it wasn't on sale. I LOVE bias tape aka: sewers duct tape.

from a popular Disney site(as far as I know we are not supposed to post links?):
Dinner Shows -- The Dining Plan can be used for the Spirit of Aloha, Mickey's Backyard BBQ and the Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue dinner shows, for Categories 2 and 3 seating only. TWO table service credits will be deducted for these shows.

Hope this helps

We can post links to websites. However you can not post links to ANY Ebay auctions, even if it isn't your own. Trust me, I learned that the hard way! Basically if it is a store, you can post a link, if it is an auction or classified ad type site (Craig's List, etc..) you can't. Ebay usernames are acceptable to post. This was told to me by WebmasterDoc.

:cheer2: You did great!! Isn't it exciting to find out that you can actually sew? You've got skills!!!
Num chuck skills, computer hacking skills, sewing skills....:rotfl:

P8033644.jpg

She loves it and I had a hard time taking it off her so "it wouldn't be dirty when we see Minnie".

Things I "learnt"...
1. The dots wont turn pink
2. Applique is easy if you secure the applique to your top. Not by pinning.
3. Rick Rack will hide a somewhat imperfect seam.:rolleyes1
4. We need yellow, black, or red CROCs. and her Hair bows for this outfit need to be BIGger and contain black (a mickey head in the center?) Somehow there needs to be an accent of yellow? In the hair bow? A button? A bow on the minnie? ((edited to add- I DID put a little yellow bow on top of the applique to the left a little...cuuuute!)
5. I love this pattern.
6. I'm wayyyyy more confident
WOW!!! FANTASTIC JOB!!!!! You are really cooking now!

I've used bias tape twice, so I'm practically an expert. ;)

You are cracking me up tonight Hether! And, I'm pretty sure Elisa said she got it at Walmart. I've seen some there too.

Hkite aka:my sister, Heather, and I are making matching shirts for us, our SIL and our Mom to match our daughters for our next GRAND DISNEY ADVENTURE. We are planning on buying the sheer Minnie dot fabric at Walmart and making it out of that, (with shirts underneth).

Mono~rail had a really cute Snow White inspired outfit to match her twin daughters. It's on the Photobucket site (link in first post of thread) under the grown up clothes. It was very clever.
