hmm..does anyone want to help me "design" an outfit for DS?
I have fabric just like this :
http://cgi.ebay.com/Disney-Mickey-Mouse-Surf-Fabric-Goofy-Surfing-Donald_W0QQitemZ130120560424QQcmdZViewItem
but I got it at Hancocks lol..I am making board shorts out of it
I also got some coordinating fabric so I can applique surf boards onto a shirt, (3 of them ) I just do not know how to get the Mickey Ears in there..like maybe behind the surfboards? Or in front of?? It has to be pretty simple..as in I can't make a cool Mickey leaning on a a surfboard or anything lol..I would love any ideas!!

That was my official first Disney custom outfit I made. I made shorts for my DS5 and appliqued a mickey head out of the fabric on a matching shirt. Also my first applique. Didn;t think I could manage a surf board, but I thought about it. Maybe you could find a Mickey (with a swimsuit) scrapbook applique. Thought I saw that one time. I found that just using the fabric was enough Mickey.

Boy, I wish my girls still loved the Wiggles as much as their mommy does..I would go to the concert just to see Anthony...Yumm...Delicious...

That's funny, 'cos I would go to see the blond back-up singer dancer dude. The one from seasons in the past that is just super-energetic...bordering on annoying. But cute!

Oh man, I wish I'd seen that print a few weeks ago. It would have made such a cute button up shirt to wear with this appliqued set I made.

AHHHH!! That is perfect!! I would love to be able to put that surfing Mickey on a shirt! Too difficult for me ! LOL

She loves it and I had a hard time taking it off her so "it wouldn't be dirty when we see Minnie".

Very, very cute. You're a good mama, your daughter looks so happy.

PS - There are some cute bow ideas in the photobucket area w/red/black and yellow.

Does anyone do bling tees? You know, with crystals? Does anyone have a source to purchase in bulk for less expensive than you can buy at Michael's? Thanks!

I am on a fabric finding frenzy! In addition to tinkerbell fabric, I am looking for something similar to this

Has anyone ever seen it?

Hey! I have that exact fabric! Just bought it a couple of weeks ago on *that* auction site. I love it - it's a nice weight - like a light denim/twill. I haven't decided what to do with it, yet, though!

Are you looking for an on-line source for hot fix crystals? I have been drooling over combining machine embroidery and crystals. the site I've been drooling over lately is beaddifferentembroidery.com Nana

Does anybody know how to do this? I think this would be so cute for my 7 yo. Is is just more and more of what we do with applique?

Hi everyone,
I have been doing some sewing today. I have to make a Spongebob, and a Bratz outfit for my professor's grand-daughters. This is the Bratz, it's done except for the bling I'm going to add to the top, just a few sparklies here and there.

enjoy!!
I like the Bratz outfit.

You always have the cutest white textured/printed fabrics. Where do you find them? I searched all over Hancocks today and couldn't find a white I liked

Here are some I did for DD last year before Christmas (or Chrismouse LOL).

There are different approaches to how these can be done but here are the basics:

1) Open the inseam of the jeans. Some people like to do the outseam but I like the patches to fully wrap the leg front and back so I want the seam to be hidden as much as possible. I also take out the hem and cut a bit longer than the final length.

2) Cut your patches to the shapes you like. I tear my fabric in strips then tear the strips into squares. This gives the edges a nice ragged edge right from the start.

3) Arrange the patches in a pleasing way on one leg overlapping to get the coverage you like. I pin my patches in place but others I've talked to use a wash-out spray fabric adhesive or fabric glue stick and still others like to use fusible adhesive, like would be done with applique. Since I have the patches over most of the leg from hem to thigh, I think fusible might cause the jeans to be too stiff but that's JMHO.

4) Stitch around each patch. I do mine about 1/4" from the edge but others stitch over the edge. Also, I like to have my stitching on one patch begin and end under another patch so the stitching on THAT patch helps secure the previous stitching in place. I did a decorative stitch in gold embroidery thread on the jeans shown above to add a little extra sparkle. Continue with each patch until all on that leg are stitched. Repeat on the other leg.

5) Close the inseam. Trim the legs to the length needed and do a line of decorative stitching about 1/4-1/2" from the edge to secure that edge of the patches as well as to prevent the denim from fraying too much at the hem.

6) I wash and dry these as usual. I don't like long threads hanging so I "groom" the jeans the first few times they're laundered. That mostly just means cutting or removing any threads that look messy. After a few times getting washed and dried, they don't fray much more.

Oh, this turned out so cute!!! I love how she's looking down at her new outfit and smiling. That's just precious!

You did a FANTASTIC job!!!!

WE have the same sewing machine:thumbsup2

The magic must be in the machine! Well, for me anyway!;)

I'm thinkin' I need one of them machines!

Oh, how I'd love to have some of that fabric! My DD loves Chip 'N Dale, but the only place I've seen the fabric is on ebay (for quite a bit of $$), and once when someone on here teased us with it. :rolleyes1 ;)

That was my official first Disney custom outfit I made.

Great job and a cute kid!!

We got a chance to see Sam (who was a backup) in Greg's spot last year at MGM... THATS to drool over - he's adorable!

How do you all get the bias tape around the curves? Im working on a little a-line dress for DD and would like to do it that way!

Thanks!!!!

Kristina

P.S. - though I don't always comment Im always checking out what everyone's been up to and you guys are SO talented!!!

Oh, I forgot to share...and I should have taken some pictures of these but I didn't.
JoAnns had some new (I think) Iron-on applique Pirates of the Caribbean stuff.
they looked like pieces of fabric that were a combination of embroidery and screen printing. Pretty cool.
