P.S. I also had to say that, although I love the Mouse, the Muppets just don't get the respect they deserve! I had to make myself a couple of fun things to celebrate those wacky puppets :) The bracelet is reversible. I know...I have problems :rotfl:

OK ladies, I have found the next thing you need to go with your outfits, bows, jewelery, covered wipe and sippee covers

custom Stroller covers!!!!!!

Go to :wizard: type in custom stroller cover and you are off onto your next project! I can't wait to see photos!!:rotfl: :rotfl:

I never even thought of doing a stroller cover. I had bought fabric for a car seat one, our cover was hideous! but never got around to it. I actually love our stoller though, so no cover for me. Can't wait to see what everyone else comes up with though.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Now, I get how the mini-bolts work!!! Thanks for sharing that!

Yep, that's the code! And she looks so cute in that!

Where does one get a grommet setter? I would love one!

That's my little girl and yes each tier is double the one above, you get an A+ in math today! :thumbsup2 I also have a formula for figuring patchwork, but not right here in front of me. I can post if if any is interested. I'm by no means, an expert, but it's worked for me.

Oh yes post the patchwork "figures" please!

Ok, I have to dig it out of my sewing desk. I will post it after breakfast. For some reason dd2 expects her diaper changed and the others expect food! Go figure!

Wohooo So we may run into you.. We check in the 25th but are heading to Florida on the 20th.

On the 25th playhouse disney live will be nearby...so we are going to that show...we have first row tickets..

This is what I spent 6 hours on yesterday and I absolutely love it!!!!!!!! DD2 tried it on this morning, but my camera is crappy and I'll have to wait until dh gets home with the good one so I can show the massive twirl factor!!! Anyone else think that I need to use more tulle next time? This one has orange and turqouise and you can barely tell. I used four 52" strips of each color. Maybe it will show better with the good camera and you can tell more then.

Here's an up close pic of the bottom tier. I thought the ocean waves was a perfect accent fabric for Nemo.

Ok, here's what I've came up with using instructions from the net and my own algebraic calculations. Yes, I'm a math geak!

I will use dd6's measurements since that's the one in the pic that UtahMama referred to.

Waist 21" x 2 = 42 + 6" (for seam allowance) = 48" for 1st tier of skirt
1st tier x 2 = 96" for 2nd tier
2nd tier x 2 = 192" for 3rd tier

To figure length:
Measure desired length - 15" divided by 3 = 5 + 1" (for seam allowance) = 6
So, I cut three tiers that are 6" wide.

You could stop here and use this for solid strips. It takes 1.4 yards of fabric to do solid strips using the measurements above.

OR you could go on to figure for patchwork skirt...

Determine how many fabrics you are going to use. For this one, I used four. I want the patches 6" wide because 48" 96" and 192" are easily divisible by 6 and it's a good size to start with. Remember when you want your patches to be 6" wide to cut them 6.5" for seam allowance.

First tier:
48" / 6 = 8 patches *** I need 2 patches of each fabric

Second tier:
96" / 6 = 16 *** I need 4 of each fabric

Third tier:
192 / 6 = 32 *** I need 8 of each fabric

Now cut 14 patches of each fabric 6" x 6.5" (2+4+8=14) NOTE: When using prints that have a pattern you want to make sure that your pattern is the direction you want it to be. The 6.5" measurement is horizontal and 6" is vertical. You don't want Mickey lying sideways on your skirt!

For 45" fabric, this takes 13" of each fabric.

Construction:
Arrange your patches however you want them, and sew right sides together then sew end to end making three large circles.
Make elastic casing in 1st tier OR make 2" waistband and make casing in that. DO NOT add elastic yet.
Hem the 3rd tier
Gather 3rd tier and attach to 2nd tier
Gather 2nd tier and attach to 1st tier
Gather 1st tier and attach to waistband (if using one)
Insert elastic and let the twirling begin!!!!!!

Disclaimer:
I found most of these instructions on the net and probably from others on here, so don't go thinking I'm a genius or anything :rotfl:

This is probably confusing as heck, so feel free to let me know so!

YAY!!!! I like #3.....I absolutely LOVE the Muppets! You made my day! Just look at her  ( in a non-weird way). I must copy!

I found some Miss Piggy flannel (and Kermie) at Hancock and cant wait to have a coupon so I can buy em!

OH, where did you find the muppets bottle caps?

Now what? Ok, I've accumulated a massive amount of Disney fabric over the last week and don't know what to do with it. I have Mickey Swirl, the Mickey & Minnie with dots, Princess toile :rotfl2: I've rarely ever typed the word toile, so every time I automatically put a "t" on the end it and have to delete it :rotfl2:. You'll probably see me do that at some point... Anyway, I also have Bambi fabric, and two more princess fabrics that the girls stumbled across at WM, and the Pooh toile.

I only have about 9 things to finish before December, but can't help thinking of what else I can do with this stuff. I only bought it "just in case"

Anyone know how to use fabric in making hairbows?

ETA: I also have about 15 yards of the Minnie Dot, some from Joanns and some from WM!

Every time I measure dds waist and cut the elastic, it is either too big or too small. Is there a secret formula for determining elastic length? Please help!

tnmom/Deann!!!! Thank You! I wrote it all down in my computer side notebook and am anxious to twirl! er, make one for my dd!!!

I also think this would be a great way to use up scraps that coordinate.

Thanks again!!!

I was hoping someone would post this question.

Every time I measure dds waist and cut the elastic, it is either too big or too small. Is there a secret formula for determining elastic length? Please help!

Normally, what I do is take my daughter's waist measurement and cut about 7 inches off of the elastic. Her waist is 25 inches, so I always have the elastic at 17-18.

You could always test it on your daughter before you cut it. Measure it out at a few inches shorter than what her real measurement is and try it on her.

Good luck!

Most excellent twirl factor, dude (Crush voice, I know you're a dudette)

I really like the orange with the Nemo fabric....color wheel again (art geek).

OH, where did you find the muppets bottle caps?

Hey UtahMama,
I knew you would appreciate my Muppet love :) I actually made the bottle caps from leftover Tinkerbell ones! I pulled the Tink stickers off, put the Muppet on, flipped it and filled it with hot glue in which I stuck a loop of heavy guage wire and topped with a second Muppet sticker...thereby making my creation reversible! Can you tell I've been patting myself on the back?
I found some Kermit fleece at JoAnn's which will be my new winter woobie.
Kay
P.S. My sisters each gave me a pack of the stickers for my birthday...they must think I like the Muppets or something (you should see my collection :)).
They were on clearance at Target back in May so I am not sure if you will find them...let me know if you need some.

I actually understand these! Please add these to the sticky! I have a crazy question/idea...it's my first origional idea, so NO ONE may copy it...Do you HEAR me! I totally have the idea pattened. (Yea right I don't even know if pattened is a real word:confused: )

So here is my idea/question... I have a ton of Halloween fabrics. Yep I started buying last year when i wanted to try to make custom overalls fro my daughter. Dolt that I am, I didn't even know about the "right click" deal, so I would hand draw ideas...please stop laughing:lmao: anywhoo...No Way am I gonna use the like 20 yards of various material I have bought...do you think a patchwork twirl skirt would be hideous if it had one patch of each fabric I have, without any repeats (that is my astounding creative idea...okay you can close your open gaped mouth:rotfl: ) Would it be schizophrenic (again spelling issues) or neat? I have all kinds of cutie prints, orange , purple and black gingham, and tons of coordinating sparkly green and purple too. (Yep all this and not one pair of overalls decorated on:woohoo: ) (PLEASE don't ask me how many overalls I have bought either:scared1: )

So that is my question...did you find it in there? I'm afraid that the skirt would be a lot like this post..confusing:scratchin

I took my pain medicine ... started feeling better ... so finished this outfit ... not Disney but I love the retro fabrics... I now LOVE   my ruffler foot -- I ran both layers through at the same time -- whoo hooo
