LadyfromDE that dress is beautiful....
I love the pirate overalls - where did you find pirate fabric?
Ladyrob, I have been wanting to tell you that you and your husband are the most beautiful couple I have ever seen! That photo of you in your wedding attire is just gorgeous.
Did my first twirl skirt last night using my serger - You are right, Lisa, it really doesn't matter what color thread you use...Oh my gosh, I AM WATCHING I LOVE LUCY AND THEY ARE WEARING TWIRL SKIRTS IN A COUNTRY NUMBER....I KNEW I SAW THOSE SKIRTS BEFORE....THEY ARE SQUARE DANCE SKIRTS!!! LOL....
Now, to try that narrow rolled hem...have to take one needle off my serger and can't find the screw driver that came with it...
Haven't opened my Disney Embroidery machine yet...sorry to hear so many bad reviews here...if it doesn't work, I will just send it back until I get one that does...
Bought a light box yesterday at Michael's. It was $50 and I asked of 40% off and all I had to do was sign a paper and they gave it to me!!! Got tracing paper and a coloring book of Disney princesses....so, now I have to print out Lisa's instructions....Lisa, can I pm you if I have trouble? There was a show in sewing with Nancy at 3am that I taped....it was about beginning embroidery and it described almost everything that Lisa told us...stabilizers...sprays...it was very informative...it was on one of our public tv channels....
I only have one DGD who is 2 1/2...3 grandsons under age 3....and I have enought fabric to make her 20 outfits....maybe I should open a Waldemort business.
Kmart had 50% off their summer clearance yesterday and I got 10 denim skirts and shorts to cut off and make into twirl skirts, and those little knit shirts with ruffle sleeves for $1.25, I am going to cut those sleeves off and add a ruffle to match the skirts....the pattern is on YCMT. Also had all of their Disney, Dora, Sesame on clearance plus 50% off...made out like a bandit.
Got the tulle on a roll to make a tie on tutu. That looks so simple...wish I didn't work full time. Joann had little tutus on clearance for $5. My DGD will complain it is itchy, so I will sew it onto something.
I agree, if you do not know how to sew, don't try something with a zipper right away....get someone to help you when you want to make something from a printed patterns like McCalls etc. I had my aunt teach me everything when I was a teenager...selvages, etc. and it took years of ripping to become really good at sewing. But don't give up. You will learn to love sewing and any time you need something really special and unique...you have the ability to do anything!!!... my daughters won many events in dresses and twirling and dance costumes I made them...and I have all those wonderful memories of knowing I made those outifts. When I am gone, I k now they will look back on those photos and remember how much love went into constucting and sewing those garments.
It is so evident how much you love your kiddos and grandkiddos seeing all these creations. I just enjoy this thread so much...and to have found so many adoptive parents is heartwarming. My DD is working on her second adoption from Russia, a girl this time. Please pray for us that God will bless her with a child born especially for our family...He already knows who it will be...Psalm 139 I believe it is....All my days were written in your book before I was even one day old....
Have a great day everyone!
Susan
