Ok, ya'll will put me to shame, but here goes.... My first try at pillowcase dresses and bandana tops!

small2.jpg

My dd is too big for a standard bandana, so I just increased it on the tink fabric by several inches and finished off the edges.... I interuppted dress up time to make her try it on!

small5.jpg

My youngest loves ladybugs.....

smaller.jpg

Again, pillowcase dresses. I decided to make one as a shirt and like how it looks on dd7 better than the dresses....

great job..I especially like the swirl top...I finally have that material but am too afraid to start something with it due to the cost!!! It came out great:banana:

You all will never guess what I just did.

So I am working on my Winnie The Pooh Jon Jon outfit for Ds. I bought extra fabric so I could line up the characters so they were where I would like them.

The back was fine so I cut that out.

I opened the fabric and lined it up, cut out my panel took the pattern off.

Lined it up again thinking how cute it would look, how smart I was to get the characters just so. Went to pin the pieces together... after a moment of confusion I figured out my problem.

I forgot to turn the pattern over for the other piece so it is backwards. So I said FUDGE...what...an...idiot. I guess I will be going to the fabric store this weekend. I can't go today or I would have to take DS who screams the entire time at the top of his lungs. :sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

I am going to go make a diaper pouch now...I guess out of some very nice WtP fabric. :rolleyes1

Heather - Awwwww Simba is adorable! That would be so cool with the Photopass Simba picture. Do you know which one I am talking about? You get it at the AK and they put simba into it like you are holding him.

You mean this one? We didn't buy the photopass, but I added Simba to a picture I took myself. I think we'll have to re-enact this for our 2008 trip in her Simba dress!

:yay: :yay: :yay: It looks perfect to me!!!!:yay: :yay: Where was this applique and sewing talent of yours hidden for the last 32 years??? You are truly talented!

The baby Simba is just SOOOOOOOOO cute!!!!!! Lydia loves it, and Corey said, "Whoa!" Which in 15 year old boy language means, "My goodness, Mother, Aunt Heather really is quite talented, isn't she?" You need to say that in a slight British accent to get the full affect)

Arminda is sleeping, or else I am sure she would be oohing and ahhing over it too. Here, I will do an imitation of her, "OOOOHHHHH, that is SOOO cute!!!! It reminds me of Saywer!!"

Is she going to wear this to Animal Kindgom?

Um, first of all, since I am only 25 years old, the talent was a twinkle in our father's eye 32 years ago....:rolleyes1 I love that I got Corey to say "Whoa!" and that Lydia loved the dress, too. Yes, I think she'll wear it to AK. But, she'll also be wearing it to Binder Park Zoo the next time we go!
FYI - One thing I've learned in my short time appliqueing is solid colored cotton fabric ravels more easily than prints. When I can I use a tonal print instead of a solid. In many cases I prefer tonal prints anyway as they give an applique more "depth" and texture. There are only a few areas where I always use a solid - mostly for areas of the "skin". Sometimes I'll use the wrong side of a print, too, if that works better for the look I want. Solid black fabric has been my trouble spot so I'm always on the look for black on black prints to use for hair or clothes and I check the wrong side of the print at the store to see if it would look like a solid color from that side.

Wow, what a great suggestion! Thank you! Who'd 'a thunk prints would ravel less? You are always so helpful and I greatly appreciate it! :goodvibes

Oh my gosh Heather---that is beautiful!!!!!! I was talking to DMIL earlier while I was getting ready for a yard sale earlier and she tol me about seeing your dress (shes uses my id to look---I keep telling her to set up an account so she can chat too) She was going on how beautifu; it was, well she was right! Great work.

Am I crazy that this made me teary-eyed? Thank you so much for the compliment!

You'd be surprised what I can afford if I get bored or have an itchy "bidder finger" You should see my daughters closet! But I didn't take offense at your joke! I have made Audrey 2 dresses, and trust me...THEY are priceless!!! Someone a while ago was making Wiggles outfits, and they said something like "even if I was offerred 1000.00 bucks, I wouldn't sell!" I totally understood her feelings!

Umm....I'd be willing to sell any of my creations for $1000. Any takers? :rotfl:

Ok, dh got home with the good camera! And here are some good pics of the Nemo skirt... plus my latest creations!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE that tulle Nemo skirt!!! I really love it! Did I mention that I love it?

ok, I was busy while I was away from the board for a week. Here are 2 of the outfits I finished! oh, and Josephine always feels the need to wear sunglasses. of course we are in AZ and sometimes the glare is huge - no clouds for days!

These are too cute! My in-laws used to live in Mesa and now they're in Yuma. My SIL said it's sunny there 362 days/year! Wow!!

This is FINALLY finished. It's taken me much longer that I had hoped. It does have a great twirl factor. I'm considering doing some kind of embellishment on the bodice - maybe a tiara in rhinestones? What do you think?
I LOVE it!!! Great job! I like the sparkly tiara idea. Don't worry about the hair-that girl would look cute in purple hair with green polka dots!

Here's my latest finished projects for my DN. They are not Disney, but practice for. It's my first strip skirt and embellished jeans.

These are SO great! I love the Dora outfit, especially. My DD is outgrowing Dora :sad1: *sniff, sniff*

I live in Southwest Michigan, below Kalamazoo and above Sturgis. :) My husband's family is from over on the other side of the state, in Lapeer. I guess I would be west of where you lived.

Stepmmom3 did one I believe, and I'm thinking a few others. She made herself one and it's in the photobucket site with the "adult" photos. :lmao:

So cute!!! Lydia starts kindergarten next year. They will go all day every day, and I just don't know how I am going to handle it! Well, I do know, I am going to do a LOT of crying!

WOW, I LIVE IN SW Michigan!! Oh, yeah, you probably knew that. Ooooh... I didn't know we had "adult" photos on the photopass site. That'd be a perfect spot to post my Ariel pasties! :lmao: Okay, sorry about that mental image.

I will be crying right along with you when Lyddy and Tessa start school next year. I get teary whenever I think about it.

I sell on ebay under the user id of "ollie_girl!" I will try to post some photos here once I am allowed to. I keep getting an error message while trying to post my photos that I need to post more. Until then most creations can be seen on our website mentioned above.

Welcome!
You need 10 posts to put up pictures. I am sure one of the mods is also going to tell you that you can't post your website here either. Although, one of your customers has posted it before. I've been to your site several times.

Beware, we CASE everything here.

I went to the Simplicity Website. I went through the costume section. Mind you my daughters are one and three. Anything over a size 6 I skipped. I also did not focus on boy stuff. Sorry!

I am going to Jo Ann's tomorrow and I have to be super efficient with my time and cash. I know that I will most likely hand DD3 10 patterns and $10. Then buy the other ten. I know it is a lot of patterns but they are $.99!!!

Ollie Girl!

Too cute! I remember crying more than my dd's on the first day of school.

They are cute and so is your dd. I love the mickey ears! Is that a headband?

ah.. I know they were so excited, I kept lingering in class and they were ready to be there!
oh, it is a headband, from the disney store , it is at least 2 years old.

Great minds think alike!
I have the ladybug fabric, I made DD an outfit for an Easter Egg party-Did you also get the matching print?

I LOVE that fabric!

HI! I think I can help.

I made this dress for DD and the bottom ruffle is twice as wide as the dress. Once you gather the material up though they are the same length and then you can stitch them together.

IMG_4926.jpg

Hope this helps answer your question.

OK, I think that is the answer I was looking for. I have the ruffler foot, so I ruffle the longest tier, and then sew it onto the next shorter tier. That makes sense! Sorry I guess I didn't ask the question the right way.

If I make a ruffle on the bottom of a skirt, do I need to use one continuous piece of fabric? I think the answer is yes, but I want to make sure. Thanks for everyone's help!

Which orlando dis'ers are looking for minnie fabric??? I know a walmart that still has a fabric department AND the fabric too!!! The store location will go to the highest bidder! ;)

I want to thank you all for sharing your contagious disease...

We have seasonal passes and I decided that since this is the last weekend we can go before our passes expire I would try to get a character meal reservation... well I called and scored the Princess Story Book Dinner... So I have the pillow case dress I posted from the minnie dot fabric which she wants to wear this weekend... no problem we're planning to go to MK for a little while and she wants to see the characters. Then I think what is she going to wear to dinner... she can't wear minnie to the PRINCESS dinner... SO... Just bought some ariel and princess fabric to make a couple of pillow case dresses or tops (haven't decided yet)... And on top of that I am making an actual pillow case for the princesses to sign this weekend so that I can make it into a decorative pillow for her bed...

I think I am official inflicted with the disease!

Here's my skirt I just finished.
These are taken with a cell phone camera, so they're not the best.

Here's a pic of it on my desk. Yes, it stands up on its own. :rotfl2:

Girlfriend! Look at it stand alone!!! I love the color! What is the color of the tulle? Blue? Is Jeanne going to be a fairy??? Freaking CUTE! :cheer2:

So??? Have you embroidered yet? I should send you some polo shirts to embroider my boys something. Hmmmm?

I wanted to let everyone know that disneyshopping.com has some great deals on sheet sets. I ordered a queen size in this princess style and it came yesterday. It looks like nice fabric and it measured out to almost 10 yards of fabric for $14.99!! I also got a Tinkerbell full size flannel set for $12.99. I'm going to make a nightgown out of them. It's not the greatest quality flannel, but worth what I paid! They also have a Mickey Tiki full size sheet set for $19.99, a twin size Pirates of the Caribbean for $19.99, and a full size Mickey sheet set for $24.99.

They are offering an extra 20% off today only and $5 shipping on your order of $50 or more. I don't know about the rest of you, but I have no problem spending $50 on this site!!

Here's pics of the fabric (sheets) I got:

Krispy,

Are you in Orlando too?

krispy - yes, the disease is contagious. At least you have your own kids.

utah - the tulle is a royal blue. It's kinda Ariel inspired, so I'm going to do either an Ariel embroidery or applique.

Yes, I've embroidered! Send the polos! And tell me what you want on them. The only thing is, even the smallest mickey stuff is kinda big for a polo.

hkite! you are evil! I am NOT allowed to go to that site. I went this past weekend and put a bunch of stuff in my shopping cart and then closed the window.
Heh.
That way I get to pretend like I ordered it.
