Kids Disney Boutique / Customs Clothes Part 2

Hello All - You have all been such an inspiration to me. I used to sew and have just returned from a Disney trip. Unfortunately I found this thread about 10 days before we left for Disney so all I could churn out were some matching t-shirts.

I do have a friend who is going to Disney and I asked to make her an outfit. Her 7 year old daughter is an Ariel fanatic of the highest degree. I simply bought a basic outfit in her size and added to it. I have to say I have not appliqued before and need lots of practice.

Unfortunately in my area we are definately lacking in stores...and a fabric store is out of the question. I called 9 stores including Jo Ann's Fabrics (45 min away) to see about getting what I needed. Course no one had what I wanted and I didn't want to bother DH with ordering off of Ebay. So I went on an all-out search Monday to find what I needed. I got a cute purple outfit in her size from KMart that had the colors I liked. Then I found a tank top with the most beautiful Ariel applique on it. I bought it too. Then I drove an hour to the fabric store and looked around. Then I went to the mall and the Disney store. Here's where I struck gold. They actually have iron on appliques and they had Ariel!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was so excited. I went back to the fabric store and found some green striped fabric that sort of resembled sea weed. I snagged some sea shell shaped buttons and some ribbon and I was all set!!!!

So that evening and all day Tuesday I assembled my Ariel masterpiece. The only problem was that I had never appliqued before. It isnt too hard but does take practice...by the third letter I was getting the hang of it:rolleyes: I tried my best. I would really have to master appliqueing before I actually would sell something but I think it will make a nice gift for our little friend.

Here are pics galore:

Oh and I forgot to say that I also picked up some beads and Ariel stuff for decorating flip flops. I made them into a matching bracelet and necklace. I also used left over ribbon to make a hair bow:

And there you have it folks! Next time we go to Disney, I will be making outfits for us! Or at least altering already existing outfits for Disney. I wish I could do this full time...I love it. That and scrapbooking when I am not out horseback riding or Dissing :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

What an adorable outfit! You did awesome!:thumbsup2

I just totally finally got email notices for posts on the board. I thought things have just been slow. Nope!! I just wasn't getting emails.

Well I've been working like crazy and have finished a line called Sweet Cupcake. Its 5 pieces (Twirl Skirt, Button Tank, Twirl Top, Jeans & Flower Clip).

Here's some pics.

I haven't been able to get good pics of the jeans & twirl top together since its been too hot outside. Our house is so dark that inside pics just never work.

Now I'm off to catch up on posts. ^_^

Ok, how did I miss this thread for so long? I sat up until 3am reading every page and got up early this am to finish! I have bbg triplets :dance3: who are 7, but my DD would love the older girl designs and I want to learn to make those pillowcases! Who made the really cute ones a few pages back? Are there directions anywhere?

I was one of the original designers on the DISigns board for t-shirts, but I burned out on that. I see lots of familiar faces from there! :wave2: I always make us matching t-shirts for our trips, and we get so much attention. For Sept maybe I should try to make a couple of boutique outfits for DD and matching t-shirts for my boys?

I think this would be perfect for a creative outlet. I have a sewing machine in my basement, but I haven't sewn in 25 years, so I wouldn't even remember how to thread a bobbin. I will need lots of basic instructions. Anywhere in particular to start? And, Dawn, why didn't you tell me about this? :rolleyes1

Glad to join you all. Your work is absolutely AMAZING!!!!! :thumbsup2

Welcome Triplefigs! I have often wondered where you were:rolleyes1
I have seen you on the Disigns and also other places, like the Contemporary thread (going in Sept) and also a couple of years ago at Christmas when we did the Christmas tree swap, which was so fun and worked great!

Glad to see you here!:yay:

Thanks! Yes, we seem to follow each other around! ;) We're at the CR Sept 22 for a week. When do you go? I am seriously trying to plan a Christmas trip for 2008. This will be 2 Halloweens in a row. I need my Christmas fix again!

My little brain has been reeling trying to figure out where to start. These clothes are awesome.

How many people here sell on Ebay? If you do, would you PM me your store or ID?

And if anyone knows of good stores/IDs for non-Disney (gasp) custom clothes, I'd love to see those too.

Anyone know who the original poster of this pic. is? I'd love to find out the ebay seller of the overalls is. I know I've seen them, they're not currently listed.

We had a terrible storm and my modem was hit by lightning so I've been down a while. GOSH, the outfits are so great. I can't wait to get to Hancock's to try to get some of the epcot outfits fabric!!! Got my Minnie Dot fabric in the mail and am P-Syched to to get started on her MK outfit- I'm gonna get her some yellow crocs to wear w/ it!!!

Tonight is DD's b-day party, tomorrow I'll post pics of her in her birthday cuties stripwork dress. She LOVES to twirl in it. She sceams "SPIN" at the top of her lungs. She made me put it on her before the buttons even got sewn on!!

Keep up the great work ladies, I'll post again when I don't have so much cathing up to do.

...t.

I didn't make this one and it's not Disney, but it's Orlando! I was so excited about it, I had to share! I won this off ebay. It even came with the corker bows! Obviously this is for our Sea World day! Don't mind my DD's crazy wet hair, she just got out of the tub.

Very, very cute. My DD7 would like the top. She can't wear anything with spaghetti straps to school. It has to be a true sleeveless or straps 2" wide.

Oh, bummer! That definately puts limits on the wardrobe! All the more fun for Disney though!

I know, especially since she lives in tank tops, halters, and spaghetti straps all summer. For school, I layer a solid shirt under her faves, but it would be better to just have items she can use without worrying.

I really like that top. Her favorite thing to wear is long a-line dresses with capris. I bet she would love the pillowcase dresses/tops.

Me, too.:flower3: Pretty please! I asked before but only got 1 response :confused3

I've already bought most of what we'll be wearing but I always like to browse for new potential outfits! If my dh will let me post pics of our kids(it might be a long shot, though) I'll post some of what we have, if possible!

Thanks!! :goodvibes

Hey, those are my babies bums!! I'll pm you the sellers id. I'll have to go dig around and find it. I have her email addy somewhere if I can't find the id.

Hi all! I haven't posted in a while, I've been really, really busy! Had a yard sale two weekends ago. I made enough to pay for plane tickets and rental car and $175 for spending money!:cool1: Originally we were driving, so this is great!
I had decided I was done making clothes. I already have more outfits than days being there! I had to make a spreadsheet to figure out which outfits go to what day!!!!!:rotfl: Then Dena had to post that awesome small world outfit. So here is my version! I even made shoes! This is my second attempt at an applique. Not bad I don't think. I still need some more practice. Oh, and I drew the face on. I tried to applique it about six times and kept trashing it.

Awww this turned out adorable! I just found some of the friends around the world fabric and I can't wait to make DD a dress from it. I love the shoes too!

Great Job thanks for sharing the photos!

This was my first attempt at an applique. I just cut out the image out of a pillowcase. I made a few mistakes. Once I sewed through the back of the t-shirt. Opps! I had to rip that out. I originally started on her collar, and decided it looked bad. I think after I wash it, the stitch holes will tighten up and not be so obvious. I'm slowly getting better.

You did a great job. Aurora looks beautiful and so does your DD.

You all remember my DD nemo outfit. (the very first thing I ever sewed!) I've since blinged her outfit (not in Photo), made her shoes and hairbow!

Thanks!! I contacted the seller, just waiting to hear back. Thanks to everyone who sent me the name!!! These seem pretty popular! There's another pair on *-bay. They have either mickey in LARGE letters or DS name down the front, with a mickey head on the leg. I'll have to decide which I like better.
