How many posts do you have to have to post a pic?? I just started my sewing (inspired by this thread) and made a cute little dress I want to show off. It isn't Disney but it is cute. I was trying to practice on somewhat cheaper stuff in case I ruined it.:rolleyes1 Thanks-- Mindy

These are the coolest jeans ever!!!!! I am SO envious of your talent!!!

Thanks, but no talent when it comes to sewing! Fabric glue is my friend! I glued everthing on and then hand sewed the buttons. For the bottom ribbon, I just put grommets in the pants (an idea I saw somewhere else...;) ) I do plan on having my mom stitch everything down and use some minnie fabric to cover the back pockets.

I finally finished another project!
This necklace:

I have ordered a shirt from ebay to go with these. My daughter will have to wear these or she will be totally naked on the cruise!!!:rotfl2:

That ruffle is so perfect! Do you make it yourself or buy it on a roll? I really really like it. Someone else used it before I think and it looks so polished.

How did you get those silver metal rings to stay in place!??!?! I tried putting those in a ribbon skirt once and they wouldn't stay!!!

I love fabric glue!!! How did you attatch the grommets?!?! Were the cuffs already folded up? Great job - love those no sew projects!

I just finished this outfit. Although I'm not a huge fan of Pooh I just love this fabric.

The back: I have no idea what happened with the quality of the picture. Didn't notice it til after she'd taken the outfit off.

I do sew ( a little ) and I gotta say, I'm a big fan of the fabric glue. We do halloween big so there are usually costumes to be made and my mother usually does all of the trimming and details, 2 yrs ago we were working on a cpt. hook jacket for DH and she wanted to hand sew all the lace and trim onto it. I was like ummm, no- I handed her some fabric glue and changed her life!!

I'm all about the fabric glue- way to be creative!...t.

Thanks, I think! I feel like I'm not getting much done since I started obsessing over these clothes! Every outfit I see, I think "how could I turn that into a Disney item? How is that put together?

Aw shucks, Teresa, you're too sweet!

Thanks, glad to be a member! I don't think I was ever on the bike, this is all pretty new to me. I am discovering that I really love to sew, though!

My daughter woke up this morning and wanted to try her dress on right away. So, here she is modeling her new dress. She seems to think that putting your head on your shoulder is a "modely" thing to do. :cutie: For anyone who thinks this dress is a little more formal than the board is intended. Believe me, this is casual compared to most of the stuff she wears!

OHHH HEATHER!!!!! Tessa looks absolutely gorgeous in that dress! I just love it!!! Do I have a cute neice or what!!!!????!!!! I can't wait for you to finish Lydia's, we will have to post a picture of both of them in their matching dresses!  I must say though, Tessa looks too old in those pictures! I LOVE her model pose!!! Such an adorable little girl she is! Looks like her aunt.

Hobby Loby sells it on the roll, the had red, yellow and black. Perfect for us Disney lovers!!

I used grommet setters (?) or maybe they are called pliers. They are in the section of Joanns with the grommets and eyelets.

I love fabric glue!!! How did you attatch the grommets?!?! Were the cuffs already folded up? Great job - love those no sew projects!

The cuffs were already folded but only stitched down on the seams, so it was easy to put the ribbon in. After my mom stitches it down, I won't be able to remove the ribbon as easily.
Thanks to everyone for all of the kind replys!

4th of July outfit (she wore it all without complaning!:cloud9:)

Hi Ladies!

I hope there is someone here that can help me - cause I am all set to go, but now at a loss!

I have a pattern, but no "copy paper" for lack of a better term......I have 1 DD who is a size 8/10 and the other DD who is a 6/7.

What do I do to cut out this pattern, but still keep it usable for the other sized child??? Do I just cut out for the big kid, and fold the paper for the little kid?

As I said, I want to start RIGHT NOW, not later tonight after I make a Joann's run!!!! :lmao: Ya know what I mean?!?!?!

TIA!!
Lisa

These are so NOT disney but they are my first projects and wanted to share. I am on to Disney things now. Thanks for the motivation. I think I figured out the pic thing.

This is a blanket I attempted for a friends baby. Be very glad you can't see the stitching.

Dino curtains for my dinoboy.
100_1241.jpg

Dress made from fabric already gathered(?) at the top for my niece. I will attach sleves when she tries it on.

Hi Lisa, Here's what I do. I cut out the "outside size" all the way around the pattern piece. Sometimes it's the biggest and sometimes it's the smallest in areas like the crotch. When I cut I just fold and pin the pattern on the straight sides and kind of just cut under the pattern where it isn't straight enough to fold. I usually try not to cut the pattern at all and I never trace it onto anything. Good luck.

There's a material called "pattern ease" I believe. It was on sale for $.99/yd At Joann's it's next to the cutting table on a bolt with the interfacings by the yard. I specifically asked when I was there if there was something to trace a pattern onto that was sturdier than tissue paper and this was what she recommended. I bought some because the tissue is just too flimsy! So, you can trace the big size onto the pattern ease and then either fold or cut it down to the smaller size and trace that, too. Not that I know what I'm talking about  , that's my best guess.

HTH,
Christine

ok stupid question. I asked earlier about what to do to make sure the ribbons don't fray. Well I was told I should use a lighter to heat seal them. Ok here is the stupid part. Will it affect the t-shirt if I already glued the ribbon or am I supposed to do this before. SORRY I am an idiot

I wouldn't try it while it's on the shirt, not if the end of the ribbon is touching the fabric of the shirt!!

Well, I haven't been around here too long, and I can't yet really claim to sew (working on that!), but . . .

I'd LOVE to be a part of the new group too, if that'd be okay?!

I will just say that I prefer cute to 'name' and I'm not fond of bullies . . ..

TIA!!!

Cool! Then do you just use the chalk type tracing paper and the spiked wheel? (Sorry, I can't remember what it's called) I'm always afraid that the spikes on the wheel will just shread my pattern.
