Hi Lisa, Here's what I do. I cut out the "outside size" all the way around the pattern piece. Sometimes it's the biggest and sometimes it's the smallest in areas like the crotch. When I cut I just fold and pin the pattern on the straight sides and kind of just cut under the pattern where it isn't straight enough to fold. I usually try not to cut the pattern at all and I never trace it onto anything. Good luck.

Thanks! The only patterns I have ever seen before are dress patterns...I had to actually get out a new shorts/capris pattern I just bought to wrap my mind around the part where you said "...sometimes it's the smallest in areas like the crotch" !! Got it now, though!

This pattern paper seems so fragile. I'm afraid I am going to rip it up!

Well, anyway.....here I go!!! Wish me luck!!

ok stupid question. I asked earlier about what to do to make sure the ribbons don't fray. Well I was told I should use a lighter to heat seal them. Ok here is the stupid part. Will it affect the t-shirt if I already glued the ribbon or am I supposed to do this before. SORRY I am an idiot
There is a bottle of liquid called Fray Check. It can be bought at any fabric store, and I know Wal-Mart has it in their fabric depts. It is like $1.75 a bottle. I use it on everything that I don't want to, well, fray. :)

I have the smooth wheel.

I do my pattern sizing this way too. :)

The patterns do seem fragile, but they are sturdier than they look. My mom has patterns that she has been using over and over again for decades. Every pattern that I have, I have to cut from at least twice, and they are holding strong. :)

I’ve been catching up on my reading and see we have some new boards. How many do we have? 2? 3? I want in on them, please!

Thank you,
Chantell

I use something called "Fray check" on ribbons and material that I have a fraying problem with. I am sure there is the same thing out there with another name - small bottle like glue comes in - it's a clear liquid that you squeeze on the ends and then it dries. If it runs up the fabric, no problem because it dries quick and colorless. Just make sure that you have something under the ribbons you are working on because it will seep through and get on your table. It will dry a little stiff sometimes if too much squeezes out and it will stick to what ever it is laying on if you lay it down before it dries. I use the fray check, hold the ribbons or clothes up and dry with hair dryer for a few seconds.
I have often wondered if clear fingernail polish would do the same thing if you were in a bind ??? :confused3 (After all it will stop runs in pantyhose)

I just finished this outfit. Although I'm not a huge fan of Pooh I just love this fabric.

The back: I have no idea what happened with the quality of the picture. Didn't notice it til after she'd taken the outfit off.

TOO cute! I love this fabric so much of Pooh!!! I had a Jon Jon made out of it for my 7 month old. He will wear it when we go in Sept.

o.k. - dummy me - while I was replying another post comes up with exactly what I was saying about the fray check ...I guess great minds think alike
:cool1:

Well..... even though you are all planning on staying on these boards as well, (THANK YOU FOR DOING THAT BTW!!!) can I still be included on the other group? I'll probably just lurk, but I love to see your creations.... and since I do have a grandbaby due in February, that we plan on taking to WDW often, I'd like to keep current so I'm in the know when it comes time to sew some of these things for taht little kiddle!

I know someone on here did the Mickey bracelet with all of the different colored Minnie head plastic buttons, if anyone know who this is, can them pm me please. I'd love to get one for my vacation...

I just received mine in the mail today. The bracelet was a big hit with my girls.

Hi i havent even had a chance to post here, just joined the dis boards a week ago but have been reading and looking at the beautiful outfits,as Im a buyer not a maker! I am always buying on ebay and enjoyed seeing your clothes and getting some new ids for the ebayers who do applique. I would never do what someone obviously has done ,and thats try to ruin everyone elses enjoyment of making clothes by themselves to have that joy of doing it them selves and saving money ,making an outfit they may not have been able to get any other way. Its sad but in every situation or club whatever ,there is always someone who has to make trouble, loves to make drama. I would love to be able to continue to see the newest creations you guys come up with everyday. Its fun and fascinating and feeds my addiction of shopping for disney stuff! I would love to be allowed to join if possible Thanks!
Ps I have twin girls 4yrs old that wear disney year round!

You can use Fray check ..Its seals fabric and ribbon. You can get it at Walmart or any fabric store. The lighter has to be done prior to sewing or glueing..:)

Here is an interesting tidbit...I was telling DH about this thread and he said something along the lines of "when we go next year are you going to dress DS-3 up like Prince Charming?"

HUH? I didn't know we were going next year. :lmao: I would like to but didn't think we would have the funds (of course, if I quit buying fabric we might actually have some), etc... I think he meant "next time we go" since we were talking 2009 but I'm wondering if I should hold him to the "next year".

Of course, the fact that he was even talking about dressing them up at all is impressive (he does NOT care for Disney -- Really need to make him a Grumpy shirt of some sort! :rotfl2: ).

I just saw on the walmart website that Disney stuff is marked down. I ordered a Minnie sundress (size 4) for my daughter for $5. Got a Mickey camo shirt for son for $5. There is a pink sleeveless Minnie shirt for $3.

*I know it's not custom but there are a couple of cute items there you may want to check out* They would look cute with the custom bows, jewelry and skirts we all already have!

Ok ladies, I have about 5 projects started that I promise to put up when I am done...Cars shirt and shorts, 2 sets of jon jons, a pillowcase dress for myself :scared1: and assorted others. Now I am starting another...should probably finish the other first but oh well....I am making overalls. I bought the Disney embroidered sticker and now I have a dumb question. I have the E6000 of whatever fabric glue...do I take the backing off the sticker and glue on the "sticky" part? I can't see any other way to do it, I just want to make sure...

TIA
